CHAPTER 14 Sara Beth arose the following day before the sun. Her heart pounded in anticipation as she dressed and hurried to see if someone had accepted her food offering. She couldn’t see much in the early pre-dawn darkness, but the lid was open on the pan she’d set out, and it was empty. Lying next to it was a small bunch of wildflowers made up of yellow coneflower, purple aster, and pale pink barbaras buttons.
