Sara Beth chattered all the way back to the house, thrilled to have Uncle Seymour back in her life. She pointed out the newly acquired chickens and the garden plot.
“So, once I get the purchases from town put away, we’ll get your room in order.”
“Don’t go to no trouble. I can take care of myself.”
She paused and touched his thick shoulder. “I know you can. But please allow me to help. I want to.”
Uncle Seymour stopped outside the back door. “In the morning, I can help you plant your new garden. I know a few tricks to make things grow.”
