There was something so exquisite and exotic about Zivana, he decided, that she looked like a precious jewel to be put in a glass case and to be admired but never touched. “Perfect Pearl,” he said aloud, “I cannot imagine a better description.” For the first time since he had known her she looked self-conscious. “I think it is time we should be moving on,” she said. He told himself that he had no wish to embarrass her. While it was nothing new for him to travel with a female companion, although not on a mission as dangerous as this, for her it was obviously the first time.
