Unknown: Mate at Rooftop

1803 Words
Unknown POV. The night was considerably darker since the figure in the white shirt and black trousers had stepped out. With the intention to get some fresh air, the Mister had stepped out. Only that he had stepped out into the roof of a high rise, modernist apartment. His face glaring down on the city, watching the multipurpose hall where soft, sober music was playing. He was supposed to be there. The square jawed figure with high cheekbones and almost sleepy eyes sighed. With a hand to his back he shook his head, pulling himself from leering over the edge of the building. He took a brisk walk to the left. Then, back to the right hand side, all the while, his teeth chattered along with him. This was not how it was meant to be. “Ah!” He groaned, smashing his right fist into his open left palm. “Ah!” He groaned out once more, inhaling the air. Usually, this would calm him. But not today. Today was meant to be a big day for him. It was meant to be special. “And yet you could not even take that old man down? How much of a weakling are you?” He growled out, repeating the same smashing procedure once more. “I actually don't think that is your fault.” A feminine voice resounded. The figure paused at the sound of that. One eyebrow arched slowly while his body turned around. A quizzical look on his face. “I don't recall telling you my location.” He said. “Ha! Yea, say that to that girl who has magic and can pop out just wherever she wants to.” The girl jeered, stepping out from behind him, her right hand on his shoulder. “You know, you should not have to beat yourself so hard. You did what you could.” “It was not enough.” He rapped out. “And…” The girl said, spreading out her hands with a bored look on. “Beating yourself up is supposed to make you feel better? It had happened. Deal with it. You did not have a mate. How was it supposed to happen?” The male figure sighed, shaking his head. He looked down to the city below and then looked back to the lady beside him. He sniffed in, taking in her feminne scents. She had high cheekbones, just like him. Cornrows on her head, her skin abundant in melanine. An important member to his circle. And more importantly, she was his friend. “I don’t get it. WHy was it so easy for you to take over and not the same for me, Tomiwa?” The man asked, swallowing hard. “Hey, we don't walk the same destinies, you know.” Tomiwa said, a smirk to her left cheek, her hand patting his back. “I didn't need a fight to the death to take over. I just…” “We don't have a fight to the death. Tomiwa.” The man blurted, walking off from her. “And you know that?” “So? Why are you killing yourself over that now? You look like you have already sentenced yourself to death because you simply lost a hand over bout.” Tomiwa licked her lips, sighing exasperatedly. “Look, I know it is very rare but you went into it with half a foot. That was brave of you. And unless that weird misstep did not happen, heck, you would have made history tonight.” “But I didn’t.” The man sighed, his back turned to her and his hands to his waist. “I am just another waste of matter and space.” “Don’t say that!” Tomiwa blurted, walking to meet him. The Mister moved some steps forward, away from her again, shaking his head. “Don't try to calm me. You know the order. Before the takeover bout, the challenger must have had his mate. It makes him stronger.” The man fisted his right arm, holding it up to his face, a frown pasted over. “It is the norm. Why is it in my case that the fates decide to play me and not give me my mate even when the bout was here?” “Stop!” The weak, almost whisper-like voice of Tomiwa broke into his train of thoughts. “I looked out for her, Tomiwa. Everywhere. Thinking that I could see her. A last second miracle. But… Nothing…” The man tilted his head backwards, arching an eyebrow in surprise. Before his eyes, Tomiwa quivered, her eyes reeking of desire and, her right hand embracing the middle of her bosoms. Right in between the unbuttoned side of the ember green shirt. His eyes drifted there, tracing her dark, chiseled skin. Trailing into the cleavages of her hand sized breasts, down till he could see soft sides of her boobs. He frowned, turning around fully, his lips parting aside slowly. A quizzical look on his face as he looked Tomiwa in the eyes and back to the chest. More buttons had come off, the shirt giving way to reveal some more of the inviting mounds of breasts. Looking away, the man ground his teeth, muscles snapping taut. And then… he inhaled, a brief smile to his face as he looked back to her. “W-what in God’s name are you doing? Why are you taking off your shirt?” He asked. She did not reply, her hands slowly working the buttons down to her stomach. “I said, Put it ON!” He barked out. The result was instantaneous. Tomiwa jerked, her whole body freezing. The slow speed of before vanished as she worked the buttons on, her eyes dropping to the ground. “I’m sorry. I just wanted to cheer you up.” “We don't need to have s*x to cheer me up. Frankly…” The man turned, returning to watch the city below. “I don’t need that. No more.” “I am not asking you to reciprocate. Giving you my body is my greatest honor.” She said. He looked her way, shutting his eyes. His body roared within him to get a grab on her and take the offer. It would not be the first time. But down, his other half did not agree. He was torn between two places. But the urge to resist having to ravage her was stronger. There was something about this night that did not need s*x. “Look.. I would be honest. It is not like I don't want you. But you are not my mate. Nothing we have can work out. You. Know the drill.” He paused, sucking in the night air. “I failed everyone today. I dont want to be jump into s*x the next instant and then fail whoever may be counting on me in the next minute.:” “Hm! Fine!” Tomiwa drew the last words. The sound of her boots clacking closer. Upon hearing them, the male tensed up. His muscles contracted almost immediately. He held still, with bated breaths, keeping his eyes locked sideways. That way, he reasoned, he could keep himself in check. Instead of giving in to the carnal desire that rampaged his body. Within himself, he knew that his other half agreed to this. The calm resonating from within was proof enough. “Wait.. what is that? g**g violence?” Tomiwa asked. The man looked her way, noting her gaze. He followed the direction of her eyes, spotting a Girl in a blue dress being chased along the alley. Right between the building where he stood on, and the multipurpose hall. “What? Those guys look like they are going to kill her!” The man straightened up. His fist curled to his side. “Look, I know what you are thinking. Don’t do it.” “I have to stop them. That's an innocent girl there. And even if, whatever her offense is not enough for the killing intent they chase her with.” The mister said, looking down at her, his heart thumping in anxiety. He had to get down there. His other half which had been so calm churned up instantly. It was like all of him had been stirred. And worse, a sweet scent of flowers hit his nose. The source of it, coming right from the girl being chased. Mate. The other half chanted. The mister frowned, thinking he had heard wrong. Mate. Our Mate. “Don't you get it, sir? Those are Wolves!” Tomiwa swirled around, putting her hands to hold him back by the chest. “Considering how she is even able to keep away from them, despite their speed, you should know it's a wolf matter. And Dragons, do not enter wolf business. It's the Order of things.” “And I don't care.” A throaty growl escaped the mister’s throat now, his eyes glaring down on Tomiwa. He swallowed hard, resisting the urge to let his beast out. If he did that, his beast would not care about Tomiwa. The fact that she was in the way. It would rip her to save the only one that mattered, now. The girl. Mate. Save Her. His heart missed a beat, dizziness knocking all his senses. He swallowed harder, the scent of fresh flowers drifting farther away. “Consider your position. It's dicey. You just lost… look, you can't afford to bring more attention to yourself like this.” Tomiwa pleaded, pushing him back. “And the more time you spend talking, the more they gain on her. Look, I could not save my mother. I could not save my ambition. Now, I see a chance to save someone and you want me to lose it too? Is this how much you really care for me?” The mister growled, veins spreading over his temples. “If you do not listen to me as a friend.” The dark skinned maiden bared her teeth, wind whooshing over her as an ethereal shadow descended on her. Her eyes glowed green instantly, fingers warbling with static whilst still holding back the mister. “Then you would, as the Sage of the Dragon Wing. It is against the interests of Thunder and the Wing to interfere in Wolf matters.” “I will not repeat myself, Tomiwa.” A throaty growl escaped from the mister as his face began to stretch out.. Veins crisscrossing the length of the face as his beast threatened to break free. “MOVE!” He thundered. “SHE’S MATE!” He shoved her aside, hurling his entire mass over the high rise building, gravity taking a swift toll on him.
