Reject Me Again, My Alpha

Chapter 8 Enzo's POV

" Enzo, you've been whacked out for days. What the hell is going on with you ? " Devon said as we sparred. " Nothing ". I snapped and went for a hit. He ducks it easily and spins around my body, popping a hit on my ribs on his way. " Nothing ? That is the third easy hit I have landed in the past five minutes. Something is definitely up , my ass hasn't hit these mats once yet. That isn't normal. You know full well you are distracted ". I gritted my teeth and stormed off of the mats. Grabbing my water bottle, I threw it over my face rather than drink it , then took a seat on the bench.

He saunters up and sits besides me. He didn't say anything , just remained quiet. "I am going to pick a bond mate , all of these girls are getting me nowhere for a fated mate. The ceremony is getting closer and I need a mate before it happens "I said lowly. Lots of wolves were mulling around the training grounds and I didn't want them overhearing. " What ? Have you spoken to your father about this ? I am sure there is no big rush and you have more time to find your mate. The pack will understand. We have no control of the when and where we meet them, we all get that ", Devon said in a hushed, very serious whisper.

" What Alpha has ever taken their place without their mate by their side ? I'll tell you Devon none , zero " sighing, I looked out and saw some of our best fighters sparring with one another. " I'm going to go speak with my father today and tell him what I wish to do. Then I will put out word to any single female who wants to be my mate and forsake their own. This isn't a discussion, Devon. My mind is made up ". He fell silent and when I dared a glance at him, he was looking at me. His care-free smile was long gone, instead his face was filled with worry. I couldn't tell my best friend my reasons. So, for him , this would all seem bizarre.

I can't wait for a mate to come along, she already has. And all these men here will see a weakness. They respect me now. But would they respect me then ? It was a huge risk to take. You could truly not know anyone else's agenda but your own. These men could be friends to my face and enemies to my back. " We still have some time, Enzo. We will go on another trip to other packs. There are still some females flying in to meet you to see if they are. Just don't do it too soon and then regret it if your true mate turns up ". Devon tries. I looked back at him from where my eyes had once again drifted off watching everyone. He looked pleading , it was a waste of time , but he didn't know that. So ,I had to not look suspicious here. So I nodded. "I will leave it until the week before the Alpha ceremony. Who knows if one of these girls could also be bonded mate material. If not , maybe one from outside of this pack would be a good move anyway. I mean , everyone here is being warned off by her ". I tipped my chin towards where Tiffany was standing. She was acting as if she wasn't looking this way , but doing a poor job.

Devon finally lets out a little relieved laugh. " Yea , she's been on the war path since you publically shut her down. How did your dad take that news ?" Standing up, I grinned down at him. And started walking out of the training grounds. And away from prying eyes. Devin followed. " Not well. She ran home and cried to her dad. And her dad then brought it to my father's attention. I got lectures about public image. All the while, mum was standing behind him giving me a virtual high five that I told her to do one. Dad caught mum , rolled his eyes. Then he stormed out grumbling, we were both pains in his ass", I shrugged.

Devon laughed and I couldn't help but smile too. We rounded the corner to a commotion happening in the towns square. People were all gathered around something and they were laughing and hooting and hollering. " The f***s happening here ?" Devon said , and that was my thought exactly. Walking closer, it sounded like there was a fight happening. So I pushed past the first few people and then when people realised I was there , they started to part out of the way for me.

What I saw , instantly had the hairs on the back of my neck and arms stand up. Anthea was in the mud on the floor face first , while a she wolf I recognized as one of Tiffany's friends, Bianca, was on the top of her, pushing her face into the mud and laughing. I knew it was her from the shade of her hair , well what I could see of it around the thick mud. Storming over , without a second thought. I grabbed Bianca by the hair and flung her body off of Anthea and into the crowd of people. Her body crashed into them and then landed in the dirt herself.

" WHAT THE f**k IS GOING ON HERE ?" I heard myself roar. My hands were balled in fists at my side, I felt all my muscles tensing and flexing. Bianca scrambled up , she didn't look fearful, more pissed off. She stuck out her hand and pointed her finger at Anthea. " Enzo , that thing is to blame for my aunt's embarrassment with the Alpha. Because of her, they have been shamed by the pack and my cousin Lorna has to live with the worry that she will birth something like that too.Lorna moved out of Aunt's house. She won't speak to her, her own mother, and she has bunked up with her lot. " She sneered down at Anthea.

I stalked my way over to Bianca , until I stood hovering over her. She had the damn sense to start looking worried. " I was there , Lorna seemed pretty happy and content with her mate. Even her sister Tamara was happy with it. It seems the only ones with the issues are her parents and you . This matter has been dealt with by the Alpha and you bet your f*****g ass he will be hearing about this little show, a show that goes against what he said to your aunt that day about there being no more talk of this matter. If this matter is heard of again , I promise you your whole family will be banished. So watch your actions " I snarled down at her.

She shook her head, looking confused. " You can't do that , why would you do that over someone as pathetic as her ? My family are a strong, respectable family and she's a runt ". My hand shot out and grabbed her by the throat , her hands shot up and clawed at my forearm. " This has nothing to do with her, you going after her.It is you going against a mating and one that has been blessed by the alpha , your cousin is not mated to Anthea is she ? So why is this anything to do with her ? " Lie , big fat lie. It had everything to do with her. Why I was butting in . " And more to do with the fact you are disobeying the Alpha's order to respect the mating. You going after her today is not respecting a mating, is it, Bianca ? "I practically repeated again , I think trying to convince everyone it was not her I was sticking up for. I tightened my grip and she started to gasp.

She couldn't speak back , my fingers were crushing her wind pipe too much. Curling my lips up in disgust, I dropped her to the floor. " Get out of here " I said to her scrambling body and she moved away from me. Turning around, everyone was still watching. " Shows over ", I snapped. One by one, they all started to turn away. Devon stood watching me , his arms crossed with a weird look on his face. " I'll meet you later for rounds ", I told him. Dismissing him too. I glanced down and she had turned around. She was looking up at me with a strange expression on her face. Looking back up, Devon still stood there , so I raised a brow at him. He glanced down at her and then turned and left.

Without speaking to her , I bent down and scooped her up into my arms. " Enzo " she said, trying to struggle out of my grip. " Shut up Anthea ", I said and kept walking. I kept walking and she thankfully stopped wiggling. I was doing my best to stop myself going back and ripping Bianca's throat out. As well as ignoring the fact I had her in my arms. " Wait, why are you bringing me here ? I can't go in there " she said, sounding worried. My destination was obvious now after walking for a few minutes. The pack house. Ignoring her , I climbed the steps and burst the door open.

Walking through the house , I still don't put her down. She was covered in mud , head to toe, but I didn't care. When I was about to head upstairs, Dad was coming down. He paused in his tracks, taking in the scene. " Enzo ,what is going on ?" he asked, his brows furrowed. " Lorna's family is what happened , well her cousin Bianca. Seems her family is still pissed. I found Bianca rubbing Anthea into the mud because of it ". I told him, pissed off. " I warned her if they carry this feud on they'll all be banished ", I admitted to him. He looked shocked. I mean what she did was bad. But would it warrant a threat to be banished? No. This was personal , and dad knew I wouldn't act so irrational. He taught me better.. So I tried to back it up. " They disobeyed your order to respect the mating ".

He cleared his throat and went down the steps some more. Anthea was looking between us both. She was shrinking herself smaller and smaller into my chest by the second. " Anthea I, prosumme " Dad said, looking at her in my arms. She makes a small nodding motion and dad smiles gently at her. " I am sorry for your ordeal. I will go speak to their family again. " She shakes her head. " No please , I don't, it doesn't matter. This sort of stuff happens all of the time " she stammers out and I tense up. " What ?" I snap at her and her eyes snap at me and she seems to freeze.

Dad's calm voice said " Anthea , what my son means is, please elaborate that ". My dad was looking at me like I had lost my mind. She licks her lips and looks between us. I can only imagine the Alpha power she was feeling right now. It would be hard to deny the Alpha. " This sort of thing has happened my whole life , it is why I don't leave the house much. To avoid it. I doubt today had anything to do with the mating and more to just do with me being seen and existing ". Dad looked at her and he even looked a little mad now. And she looked shocked she had just shared so much. Was this her first meeting with the Alpha ?

My dad clears his throat and looks at me. " Where are you taking her ? " he asks me. " Upstairs so she can get cleaned up , then I will walk her home ", I tell him. He nods and looks back at her. " I shall see you soon Anthea ". With that, he walks around us and I carry her upstairs to my room and into my bathroom. That's when I let her down. " Use the shower , I will get you some clean clothing " I said to her. Before getting the hell out of the bathroom, the thought of her naked in my shower was f*****g with my control. I needed a minute to calm myself down.
