That jerk is my husband

Chapter 5

“Thank you Dr. Dion, I will.” I said and left the hospital after I bought the tea in the pharmacy what the doctor recommended for me. I decided to walk home since it the weather is nice and we live not so far from here. I checked the time on my phone and to see it’s 5 pm already. Ryan will be home in an hour because his practice ended now. 

Me: Hi handsome, will you be home soon?

I texted him since I know his practice ended already so he can text me back. 

Husband: Hi, angel. Yes, maybe in an hour. Can’t wait to see you.

His answer came after a minute and I was excited to see him. I decided to cook dinner, he must be starving so I will make spaghetti. The first meal what we ate together before we started dating. On the day he apologised, I still remember clearly.

    I just placed the plates on the table when the door opened and Ryan walked in tiredly.

“Angel, I am home.” He shouted.

“I can see that, why are you shouting?” I asked him with a chuckle when I walked towards him from the kitchen.

“Oh.. I didn’t see you there.” He said and pulled me into a tight hug. “I missed you, wife.” He said with sad puppy eyes while pouting.

“Awww, I missed you more, husband.” I said and kissed him. “The dinner is ready, come let’s eat, I am starving.” I told him and he picked me up suddenly.

“Then we need to hurry, my baby is hungry.” He said and carried me into the dining room. We were laughing and talking, it was just like before when we didn’t have anything to worry about. I told him about the visit in the hospital and he made a cup of tea for me after dinner.

“Come on angel, I want to go to bed.” He said when we finished with our shower. 

“So eager, are we?” I asked him playfully.

“Angeeeel... stop teasing me and come here. It’s so arousing to see your little baby bump. It’s so s**y and it’s amazing to know that we created that baby in your belly.” He said and I felt sorry for him after teasing him in the shower too so I walked towards him.

“Okay, I will stop...” I gave in and climbed onto the bed next to him.

“Finally.” He said dramatically while he grabbed me and pulled the blanket on the top of us. “You won’t escape now.” He said playfully and started tickling me. 

“Ryan, stop it...” I screamed and he suddenly stopped and jumped out of the bed.

“Wait, don’t move.” He said and went to the bookshelf. He chose a kinder book what we bought recently and came back to the bed. “I will read you a bedtime story, my baby.” He said to my belly lovingly and started to read. He is so sweet, he will be a great father. I just watched him with a smile on my face and listened to his story. When the story ended he placed a soft kiss on my belly and said quietly.

“Good night baby...” then he looked at me. “Now it’s adult time.” He said playfully and started to undress himself, afterwards he undressed me as well. 

“We need to hurry because it’s late already” I told him and he groaned. 

“I know Angel, but don’t think about that now and let me make you feel good.” He said and we made love for an hour before we fall asleep in each other’s arms.

    I woke up and it was still dark outside. I checked my phone to see it was only 5 am. I turned around to find the bed empty next to me. I had and uneasy feeling in my stomach so I got up to look for Ryan, maybe he just went to the bathroom since his place was still a bit warm. I opened the door but it was empty so I started to walk downstairs and I saw him sitting on the couch and writing on his phone with a smile on his face. ‘With who is he texting so early in the morning?’ I walked behind him quietly to see the screen of his phone. 

H: so we will go to the library after school?

Ryan: yep, prepare everything what we need for the project and next time please let me sleep

H: sorry, I couldn’t sleep, LOL, I thought you have your phone on silent so you will see it when you wake up.

Ryan: I never put my phone on silent, in case someone needs my help - he wrote and added a winking emoji after the text. I read the messages and frown. Who is this ‘H’ he is texting to? Why didn’t he save the number with the whole name? Could it be his project partner so I worried again for nothing? Why he didn’t wait till morning for texting back? Maybe he couldn’t sleep either.

    I took a few steps backwards before he catch me reading his messages.

“Why did you wake up so early?” I asked him while rubbed my eyes, pretending that I just arrived. He jumped up from the couch suddenly.

“Angel... you scared the s**t out of me. I didn’t hear you.” He said nervously. “It’s just.... my classmate texted me about our project and I didn’t want to wake you up.” He said and walked up to me to pull me into a hug.

“Come back to bed. Why it couldn’t wait till the morning to reply?” I asked him.

“I wanted to drink a glass of water anyway so I came downstairs, I thought I will just answer fast.” He said nervously. “Come let’s go back to bed.” He said and I nodded. We walked upstairs and lay down on the bed. He pulled me closer and he was fast asleep soon. I couldn’t sleep so I just lay there and watched his beautiful face while he was sleeping. 

    After a few minutes his phone vibrated and I looked towards his nightstand but the phone wasn’t there. I realised that his phone was vibrating under his pillow. ‘Why did he put it there? Strange.’ I thought and since I already read the message I am not worried but why did he put it under his pillow when he never does that? He was holding me tightly in his arms so I just relaxed and finally fall a sleep.

    The next day the time went slowly while I was attending my classes. All of them was boring and I just couldn’t get myself to pay attention, because I was thinking about my surprise for him.

    Today is our one and half year anniversary, he asked me to be his girlfriend exactly one and half year ago and this is a good opportunity to surprise him. He will stay in the library after school to learn with his project partner so it will give me time to prepare something for him. Maybe he doesn’t count this one ,but I want to surprise him how he does all the time to me. Anyway we wasn’t on a date since we got married 3 months ago so I think here is the time to fix that. 

    He thinks that I will leave the Camaro here for him and I will go home with my sisters, but what he doesn’t know that I took the spare keys of the car with me so I can just ‘steal’ it till he will be in the library to pick up the cake. Since I don’t have time to drive home and then back here, I needed to plan something here nearby. Originally I wanted to take him to the same restaurant where he asked me to be his girlfriend, but that’s too far from here so I will just take him for ice skating since we both like that. I hope he won’t be too tired to go, but I will make a reservation in a restaurant as well just in case. He can choose what he wants us to do then and I ordered a cake as well with ‘happy 1 & 1/2 anniversary’ written on it, what we can take home with us.

    When my last class is ended I walked towards the lockers to see Ryan before I leave. He was already waiting for me there when I arrived.

“Hi angel.” He said and pulled me into a tight hug. I will never get enough of his hugs. 

“Hi handsome.” I said and pressed a kiss onto his soft lips. “I will leave now. You will finish around 5 , right?” I asked him.

“Yes, I think. Tomorrow I have no practice or project planned so I will be all yours.” He said adorably and I kissed him again with a smile.

“I hope you will.” I joked and pulled away. “Okay darling, see you later at home.” I said and kissed him for the last time.

“Okay angel, I miss you already.” He said with a puppy eyes and let me go finally.
