Chapter 4 - You Are -!

After I set-up the timer for my camera I sat next to him. I'm only using a small camera and I always bring with me a foldable and adjustable holder for my camera, so it's not difficult for me to set it all up, especially to someone like me who's already use to it by practice and hobby. At first I'm still a bit shy and awkward as I sat next to him. I mean, we just met, so it's obvious why I'm a bit shy and still awkward around him despite with us already talking and sharing something about us. Except for exchanging names. I mean, he probably know me already by the name I put on my social account username where I post some of the photos I took since he obviously looked and followed it earlier after I told him about it, but I still don't know his name since it looks like he wants to be mysterious and anonymous for a short while that's why he has those things covering his face. That's why I decided not to insist on asking him. Well, maybe later, before we parted ways I'll ask him. "So are we just gonna sit here like this and look at the camera?" He asked me while he looked straight towards the camera while his voice was deadpan and curious. I shook my head. "We at least need to look friendly and maybe create a peace or heart sign with our fingers." I suggested. That will be a good idea to first break this awkwardness. I set up my camera to dozens of shots automatically so we can just pose whatever we wanted. He nodded and make a peace sign while I did the heart sign above my head. Since he didn't connect his hand above my head with putting his hand over his head, I probably look like a neglected fool, but I didn't complain. It will just take time and waste some shots. I instead tugged his hand above his head to connect it with the heart sign I made with my own hand. "You should've told me you want us to do the heart sign." He told me. "It's easier to take action than waste words, now smile." I reminded him. "It doesn't matter if I smile or not, my face is fully covered." He reminded me. "Oh. I forgot. Then just look towards the camera still and put your head sideways next to mine, so even it your face is hidden, it'll still deliver the message that you're probably smiling since we both have our heads bending towards each other while making a heart sign. People who don't smile or unhappy don't do this kind of pose, because they'll think it's for people who's always sunny and happy. So, follow my pose, bent your head a little." I suggested after I explained. He followed my instructions instantly. "I think I know why unhappy or unsmiling people don't like this kind of pose or don't want to take photos." He then said while we did the pose and look at the camera. "Hmm...why do you think?" I asked, wondering what his theory was. "Because their unhappy and miserable. Why would they want that to be shown on photos if it'll just be reminding them how miserable they are. Besides, if they take photos with fake smiles, it'll still be obvious after seeing their photos. They don't want to be reminded by that kind of photos." He told me theoretically. "That's one of the reason and probably the most accurate. While others who feel like they're edgy thinks it'll be uncool for them to take photos, but at the end of the day, they don't want their photos taken because they're still miserable and they're only hiding behind being edgy and cool. They're still both miserable." I also added. "Well, I'm glad for you that despite your sneaking around under disguise, you still like taking photos and with the way you're so active with following instructions without misgivings, it's obvious you're also a contented or happy person." I observed. "So, besides being a talented photographer, you're also a psychologist?" he teased me. "Hmm, maybe. Because photographers like me tend to see the emotions of people we take photos of." I pointed out. "You're right. I may want to be free from time to time from my busy schedule, but I'm also happy and enjoying with what I'm doing and add the fact that it has a lot of perks, too, and money of course. So, there's nothing to be unhappy about. Well, maybe sometimes when I can't eat some junk foods because I have to watch my weight some certain times, then everything's fine." He explained to me. I nodded and smiled. "That's good to hear. I thought at first you're hiding behind those coverings on your face because you're escaping an unwanted something in your life." "Thank you for caring about what I might be feeling earlier. Is that why you also agreed to ride with me here in the ferris wheel?" he asked me. I nodded. "I really wanted to take photos from up here, and I only have a limited chance to be able to do that before the school fair ended. And since you're in disguise and seems to be hiding and you also wanted to ride the ferris wheel, I took your offered suggestion, that way you won't be alone. I'm worried that you need someone to talk or listen to you." I told him. He nodded. And I almost forgot that while we're talking, the camera is continuously automatically taking photos of us. I sighed and felt frustrated from forgetting about it. We might've ran out of the automatic shots. I need to set it up again for us to have more different poses besides the first one we made. But when I was about to stand up to set up my camera, the cabin we're in swayed a little bit with force when it stopped at the very top of the ferris wheel, and I unconsciously reached out for something to hold on to as I swayed off balance. I held on to his hoodie before gravity made me sit on his lap sideways, with his hands on my shoulder and hips to help steady me. When I looked up, I was shocked! We were both surprised, I guess. Because of my desperation to cling onto something, I pulled the hood of his hoodie off his head, his cap half-way off his covered now messy hair, his sunglasses askewed and his surprised wide eyes staring straight back at me. "You are-!"
