Elizabeth brought her knees up to her chest and wrapped her arms around her legs before resting her face on her knees. She wanted to curl up as small as she could make herself as if it would make everything stop. Sawyer had been the one that asked her to stop the conversation that had led to her feeling this way, and now it was her that was suffering for it. Her eyes were screwed shut, but she felt him move on the bed, and then the sound of the window being opened followed by a gentle balmy breeze which carried with it the distinctive smoky scent of a neighbor’s summer evening barbecue.
