Chapter 6

1630 Words
Charles stood up from his bed after placing Nancy's photo on the headboard. He went into his bathroom to bathe before stepping out, putting on his night robe, and walking to his study room to busy himself. Sleep was very far from his eyes. He knew he would be marrying soon, but he still needed to check his company records as he was running a multimillion-dollar company in their state. Charles took his time and did his own personal cross-checking of his company records and growth with his computer. Meanwhile, his mother, First Lady Kira Alejandro, had contacted her assistant, Miller Robert, on a phone call. "Hello, Miller." "Good evening, Your Excellency," Miller responded. "I want you to find out what this lady is up to for me. Make sure to keep track of all her movements and send some security men to follow her around too." "Okay, Your Excellency," Miller responded. "Anything else you need me to do?" He asked. "No, that's all. And the job starts now," First Lady Kira replied. "Okay, Your Excellency, good night," Miller said. "Good night too," First Lady Kira replied, and her phone call with Miller ended. She knew she could always trust Miller to give her clean records as he had never failed her. She sighed and finally walked out of her room on the second floor as she went downstairs to the ground floor to welcome her husband. Although she had had her dinner with Charles, she still wanted to be with her husband and spend some quality time with him before the night completely fell. ***** Nancy woke up in her bedroom feeling sore, as she had dreamt about the wedding and indeed happily got married to Charles. She knew that most of her dreams usually came to pass, but she frowned as she thought of how she would escape from marrying Charles and also the gain if she actually agreed to marry him. "No, I cannot become Charles's wife," Nancy said, and she immediately slid out of her bed and walked to her bathroom to bathe. It was a bright Friday morning. Nancy brushed her teeth and took her bath quickly before stepping out and putting on a black long gown. "No, let me wear trousers and a top, so it will be easy for me to escape. But how do I do this?" Nancy frowned as she walked to her closet and said, "Well, since the wedding is tomorrow, let me find out first if Mom and Dad have already purchased all that I will need for the wedding. They cannot possibly have purchased my wedding gown too." Nancy smirked and quickly searched her box of clothes for her travel documents, keeping everything in a small red purse. She wore only her panties and bra in her room and contemplated what she would wear. Nancy finally walked into her closet and took out a blue long-sleeve top and black long trousers. She put them on, but the black trousers hugged tightly to her legs and accentuated her shape. Nancy walked to her bed to carry her red purse, and she was set to leave the house, as she was already dressed. She knew she could not give her family the impression that she was escaping. So she combed her long golden hair and applied a little makeup on her face as she prepared to escape. Nancy smiled in satisfaction at her reflection once more and glanced at her room clock, seeing it was after 8 a.m. "Two hours to go," she said, and heard a knock on her room door. She walked up to her door to open it and met the gaze of a young maid who greeted her, "Good morning, my lady." "Good morning, what do you want?" Nancy asked the pretty brown-skinned maid in a blue uniform as she was already leaving the house. "Breakfast is ready, ma'am, but I'm here to tidy up your room," the maid replied. "Okay. I'm already leaving the house now, so do it neatly and don't scatter any of my things in my room. Bye," Nancy said as she walked out of her room. "Okay," the pretty maid replied, while Nancy finally went downstairs to the living room. Nancy could see that her father had other guests around, but stealing a quick glance at the guests' faces, Nancy saw they were all elderly men like her father's age-mates and probably his business associates. She sighed and stepped downstairs into the living room, not wanting to be rude to them, even as she was still upset with her parents' decision to have her become Charles's wife. Nancy paused in the living room and greeted her father, "Good morning, Dad. Good morning, sirs." "Good morning, Nancy. How was your night?" Senator Logan Marlon asked, smiling at his only daughter. He was seated on the living room's black couch, previously discussing with his business partners before Nancy came downstairs. He could see the men were also smiling at Nancy and admiring her, as the wedding was the following day. "Fine, Father. Where's Mom? I want to have my breakfast first before I leave the house, as I want to go out for some shopping," Nancy replied, knowing she had just returned from City X the previous day and some of her items in her room had run out. "That's alright. Your mother is in the kitchen, Nancy," Senator Logan Marlon replied. "Okay, Dad," Nancy answered, glad that her father didn't object to her leaving the house. He was a very busy man, occupied with his business partners, and she knew that everything to him was business. "You have a very beautiful daughter, Senator Logan Marlon. If President Nolan Alejandro's only son, Charles Alejandro, hadn't chosen her yet, I really would've loved to have her as my sixth wife. Is she still a virgin?" Nancy froze at the dining room as she heard one of the elderly men seated in the living room boldly ask her father. She paused and stared back at the four men, feeling irritated to know that the old man also had his eyes on her. Nancy met their gazes, but she heard her father respond, "No, Senator Leon Clayton, Nancy is too young to become your sixth wife, and even though Charles Alejandro hasn't chosen her yet, I still cannot give my only daughter to you." Nancy sighed in relief and stared coldly at the silly old man named Senator Leon Clayton. But she saw him lick his lips, and he offered, "How about I give you a 30 billion cash transfer and all my properties in Atlanta for you to allow me to have your daughter?" Nancy's eyes widened in shock at Senator Leon's offer to marry her. She wondered how much Charles had paid her parents to have her too, but she was interrupted by her mother, who stepped out from the kitchen, while they both heard her father respond to the old man, "Don't you dare mention any further, Senator Leon Clayton. That's enough. Nancy is not for trade, and even though you offer me a 100 billion cash transfer, I still cannot give my only daughter to you, as you're older than me and old enough to be her grandfather too." "But I'm still good in bed," Senator Leon shamelessly announced, and Nancy and her mother gasped in shock at the silly old man's shamelessness. But Senator Logan snapped, "Enough! Senator Leon Clayton, back to our business conversation." "The business will be on hold, except you allow me to have your daughter instead of President Nolan Alejandro's only son. From my findings about Charles, he is a male prostitute, and I'm sure your daughter cannot stand such a childish, immature man to become her husband. She needs a good man like myself to groom her well," Senator Leon spoke. "Hmm... leave my house, Senator Leon Clayton. I appreciate your cancellation of our business deal, but this meeting is over!" Senator Logan Marlon barked, and Nancy saw her father point to the living room exit door. The other men in black suits wanted to protest, but Senator Leon cut them off, "Very well then." Senator Leon Clayton stood up from the black couch to exit the living room, his personal assistant following him from behind, but his eyes still traveled to stare at Nancy, where she stood with her mother. Nancy felt irritated all over, but she was glad that her father didn't accept the old man's proposal. More importantly, she was surprised that Charles hadn't given her parents anything yet to marry as his bribe. But she still didn't like Charles and still plotted to move on with her escape plan. "You shouldn't have sent Senator Leon Clayton away, Senator Logan. We still need him to win the local parties," Nancy heard some of the men in black suits still seated in the living room couches speak to her father. "I know, but this meeting has come to an end, and I made a terrible mistake by organizing it here. The meeting will be on hold until after the presidential wedding has come to an end. So see you all next weekend in the Senate house," Senator Logan spoke as he stood up from the black couch. All the old men in black suits had no other option than to stand up and finally exit the mansion. Nancy sighed as she walked to the dining table with her mother. The maids stepped out from the kitchen and served their breakfasts around the dining table and to Nancy's view. Nancy was conscious of the time as she watched her parents settle on the seats across from her at the dining table to have their breakfasts.
