Chapter 3; Running away

1484 Words
Nancy finished combing and drying her long, golden hair in her bedroom so that it fell behind her back. After leaving her room, she went downstairs to the living room to join her parents for dinner. Nancy felt her stomach rumbling so loudly with hunger that she grabbed onto the iron railing to keep herself upright as she descended the stairs to avoid falling or missing her steps. She noticed some guests had arrived at her parents' house, which caused her to frown because she despised the way her father's mansion was built. Because the living room was connected to the dining room, it was easy for guests to spy on her family affairs, whereas she despised being watched by anyone and she values her privacy. Upon her final exit from the stairs, Nancy noticed the tall, attractive, and authoritative black man standing in their living room, observing her. She felt extremely uneasy under his watchful gaze because of the way his black eyes continued to stare at her; Nancy thought he was already stripping her naked because of the desire in his eyes. Eventually, she turned her gaze from the black man to her parents, who were standing tensely in the living room. Nancy asked her mother, "Mom.. Is dinner not ready yet?," as she approached her. Mrs. Olivia Marlon was anxious because she had not anticipated Charles physically coming to her house. With trepidation, she replied to Nancy, "Nancy dear, Meet your groom here." "My what?" Nancy gave a startled gasp and quickly turned to Charles. She looked directly into his attractive black eyes, which remained fixed on her for a minute. He was also observing her while he stood in the living room. "Mom.. When did I got married to him?" Nancy asked her mother after she jolted out of her shock. "Nancy, you are not married to him yet. Charles Alejandro is here with us. The wedding of Mr. President Nolan Alejandro's only child is scheduled for two days from now," her father disclosed. "Two days!" Nancy nearly passed out as she gasped. "Be calm, Nancy." Nancy shivered as Charles spoke to her in a deep masculine voice. Nancy could not believe she was marrying him, and their wedding was just two days away. She finally summoned her courage and said to him, her lips trembling, "I cannot... marry you, sir." "Nancy!!" Her father screamed at her, attempting to silence her. Charles Alejandro is the most feared young man in the city. Senator Logan cautioned, "Nancy! You have no right to object to this marriage because Charles Alejandro has seen many photos of attractive young women before deciding on you. Thus, you ought to be appreciative of the opportunity to serve as the nation's future first lady." "No, dad. I can not agree to this union; I can not wed him." Nancy instantly retreated as she bounded to the stairs and ran upstairs to her bedroom, her hips bouncing and swaying as she did so. She went to her room on the top floor and closed the door. "Hey Nancy! Return here." Nancy did not want to marry Charles, so she did not answer when her father called. She went to her bed and sobbed after closing the door to her room. "Well, I will go upstairs and give her a call back." Mrs. Olivia Marlon made an offer, but her husband promptly halted her. "It will not be required." Senator Logan looked at Charles and said, "Your Excellency, we sincerely apologize. Since Nancy has not been told about the arranged marriage with you, sir." Charles stood stunned in the living room, staring up at the second floor. "Hmm," he said. He hoped his bride would look down at him with her gorgeous head peeking out. Similar to how her hips had shifted and swayed sensuously in his direction. Charles felt his muscles harden in preparation for claiming her. Charles doubted he could control himself if he was left alone with Nancy. She looked stunning, even more so than in her photo with him. He finally looked back at Nancy's parents, and his gaze met her mother's. She looked similar to Nancy. Mrs Olivia Marlon smiled nervously and said to Charles, "Do not worry, your excellency; I will go upstairs now and speak with my daughter. The wedding will still take place." "Well, that is okay. I came here to greet my bride upon her return to the city, and I am looking forward to our wedding. However, it is clear that she does not want to see me." As he gave Mrs. Olivia Marlon the bouquet of rose petals he was holding, Charles said, "Please, give these flowers to Nancy and let her know that I truly love her and I want to marry her." Mrs. Olivia Marlon grinned, picked it up, and moved aside as her husband apologized once more, saying, "Your Excellency, we truly apologize. Please pardon our daughter for acting rudely toward you." "That is okay. I came here to greet her upon her return to the city, so it is not a problem that I genuinely understand her fears. Please let her know that I want her and send her my greetings. I have got to leave now. Goodbye, Senator Logan," Charles said. "Yes, Your Excellency, good bye." Charles eventually left their living room with Senator Logan as his escort. and proceeded to his car outside. The security guards on duty pull the car door shut. The three vehicles eventually left the residence of Senator Logan Marlon as soon as Charlee got into his Jeep. ***** Nancy stood at her upstairs window, staring down at the garage. She also noticed that Charles had left her family's house and climbed into his vehicle before the three vehicles left. Nancy was shocked to learn that her parents genuinely wanted her to wed Charles Alejandro, the president's only son, against her will. Although she has never met Charles, she is aware of him because of the way that his family has been publicly mocked and mistreated for their refusal to leave the position of power. Since Charles was allegedly a male prostitute and not the type of man Nancy wanted as her husband, she learned of his affairs with numerous attractive young women in their state. Nancy was startled back to reality by the sound of her room door being forced open. She turned her gaze from her window to her parent, who stormed into her room to visit her. "Nancy! What was the purpose of the ridiculous drama you just put on during your meeting with Charles Alejandro today? Do you not realize that many young ladies would have been thrilled to accept the offer and even agree to marry Charles right away?" Her father stood next to her room door, glaring at her as he asked her a heated question. Her mother, meanwhile, stood silently holding the bouquet of roses she had previously seen with Charles. "Answer me Nancy??" her father shouted at her. "That is not the type of man I want, Dad." Nancy sobbed as she said, "I do not love him, and that is the truth." She also stated that Charles Alejandro was not the type of man she wanted to marry. She is looking for a good man who will only love her, not a cheat like Charles who will not value her as his wife. Nancy was searching for the ideal pretext to convince her parents that she could not become Charles wife or marry a man like Charles. "Love? Nancy, what are your knowledge of love? Charles Alejandro will win your heart over time. and following your union as husband and wife. That is how your mother and I got married, and we are still together today. Imagine sitting here waiting for the man you will love first, only to find that he does not love you either, leaving you to love him alone." "Even though I am aware that you will object, I am unable to turn down the Alejandro family's offer to us. They will be deeply offended that you turned down their only son's proposal to you, since they are the ones in charge of the nation! Among all the other attractive young women's pictures Charles must have seen, he chose you, Nancy Marlon. Therefore, you must wed Charles regardless of your feelings for him." "No, dad! I can not wed him." Nancy cried uncontrollably and screamed because she did not think her father truly wanted her to wed Charles against her will. "Talk to your daughter and get her ready on everything that she will need to become Charles' wife," her father said to her mother as he turned to leave her room, stopping at the door. "Regardless of her feelings for Charles, she will move into the presidential villa this Saturday to live with him."
