She’s in love with a boy

1648 Words
It all started freshman in high school. I was the freak, of the school. I had braces curly hair that wanted to control itself. I was pretty but I didn't feel like it. I was tall for my age, I was 5 foot 6, 125 pounds, tan with dark brown hair and hazel, blueish-green eyes. I had good grades, I was #1 in everything. I ran track and field, softball, soccer, bowling, cheerleading, any named sports I was in. Even geek/nerd stuff that I tried to hide but always found a way out. I got picked on all through school til the moment I met a special someone. Tall, dark, and handsome. Very handsome. But I was to shy to talk to him. I hide the fact that I had a crush on him and no one really knew other than one person. Qetsiyah, she was my bestest friend since I can ever remember. We were two peas in a pod. Done everything together, we were actually born together but only a few hours apart. Our mothers were best friends as well. They went to grade school, middle school, high school, and even college together. They even were each others bridesmaid at each others wedding. Even the craziest thing is they dated each others brothers. But it didn't last long. Only a few years but they still great friends after the break ups. With Qetsiyah, there wasn't a thing that I knew that she knew or even the other way around. If I found something out I would tell her. And the same with her. But when it was in school, I only talked to her. I was very shy. I stayed to myself mostly. But not until him. It was the middle of the school year, when he joined. And as school as he did, he joined everything. He was like the shiny new toy that everyone wanted. The funny thing is, he was Bella from Twilight, the boy version of her at least. And I was Edward. I wanted to know who he was, I wanted to be near him. He with him and everything. But I was to shy. "Genevieve, your drooling." Qetsiyah had said while we were at lunch. "Am not." I said whipping my mouth off. "Just go talk to him." "No, I can't." I had said. "I'm a nobody and he's a somebody." "Girl, your a somebody as well. Your a cheerleader, your on top of all sports. You may not be the captain, but cheerleaders always gets the boy." She had said. "You make this sound so dirty." I said shivering a little. "It can be, if you get with him." Qetsiyah had said smirking. I just glared at her like, 'shut the hell up'. The funny thing is, she's right though. She's always is. And I hate that about her sometimes. As time turned into days then weeks, the cutie had joined the football team, now I would have to talk to him since we'll somewhat be working together at games. Just great. I thought to myself, what else would happen? As it was starting to get cooler out, that meant the bonfire was gonna be happening soon. Every year once school starts back up we have a month or two til fall and the school let's the president of the school throw a huge bonfire for us. As a freshman, I had to go. There wasn't no buts or ands about it. My parents said they done it back in high school and that its fun way to make new friends and my cheer captain said it was mandatory for the cheerleaders to be there. It was fun, I was having loads of fun til I saw him. He was sitting across from me from the fire drinking and talking to some buddies, while it was just me and a few months cheerleaders and Qetsiyah. "Ooouu, someone looks like they have a crush on the new kid." Delanie chuckles with pride. She was the cheer captain "She sure does." Qetsiyah said giggling. "Guys stop, its not like that." I had said. "Mhm, sure." Brittany said chuckles. "Go talk to him." Delanie says. "I'm good. For now at least." I said. "Ima go get another drink." I said then got up and with to the keg stand. As I walked over to the keg stand that was about 10 feet away from the new guy. I was glad too, I didn't want to even look at him. At least not right now. As I got to the keg, I filled up a cup that I grabbed and chugged it a few times. I felt a little better but after all I was under age and drinking wasn't my cup of tea, but I had to get what I was feeling out of my head. "You may want to slow down on the drinking?" A voice has said behind me. I turned around and saw it was the one person I was trying not to run into. "Kinda need it. Trying to forget something and well its not working like I want it to be." "What are you trying to forget?" He has asked. "A certain boy?" I said as I poured more into cup. "Oh, boyfriend drama?" "I don't have a boyfriend. Nor do I want one right now." I told him. "Even though your a cheerleader? All cheerleaders has boyfriends." "Not I." I said then chugged the rest of my beer. As I filled it one last time, I walked away from him or at least tried too. "The names Glen." He called out making me stop to turn around and look at him. "Genevieve, but you can call me Gen." I said as I turned around to head back to Qetsiyah and the others smiling a little. When I got over to them, Qetsiyah noticed I was smiling. She then looked behind me, seeing where I came from, knowing I just talked to Glen. My crush. Once I got to her she started chuckling a little then shook her head at me. I just shook my head back at her. Later on that night, after the fire had gone out, I went to my car to head home. As I got to my car, I had dropped my keys on the ground and before I could even bend down to pick em up, someone already beat me to it. When I looked, it was Glen. "Do you think you can drive?" He asked me. "Yes, I stopped drinking hours ago. I've been drinking water so I can sobber up some." I said. "Are you sure?" He asked. "I can drive you home. I don't live that far from here." "Nor do I. I live a few blocks away." "Here, let me drive you. How would your parents feel if something happens to you and they knew I was the last to see you alive. And that I tried to stop you and offer you a ride?" He explained. "Fine." I said as I walked to the passenger side. Once we both got into the car, I told him where to drive to. The drive was quiet, kinda glad it was. What would I say to him. How would I say what I want to say that's in my head. When we arrive at my house, he parked my car in the drive and turned her off. We sat there once again in silence until I blew out a breathe. "Thanks." I said as I reached for my keys before getting out. "Your welcome. By the way, I live 4 houses down. That big blue house." He told me. "If you want to car pull together, just come down and knock anytime." He said. "Sure." I said as I opened my door and got out. He done the same about was heading down my driveway. I was about to walk inside the house until Qetsiyah voice had spoke in my head. "Get his number girl." I shook my head at that comment but some reason I listened to it. I turned around and head to the end of the drive and hollered at him. "Glen!" I hollered. He stopped and turned around. "Yea?" "Give me your number so maybe I can call you and ask you if you need a ride from me." "Yeah, sure that'd be better." He said as he walked back to me. We exchanged our phones to type in each others numbers to each other. Once we were done, we gave our phones back to each other then we turned back around and headed inside our places. Once I got inside, my father was standing by the steps like he was about to open the door for me. "Hi, daddy." I said as I closed the door and placed my keys on the end table. "Who was the boy?" "Oh that was Glen. He's new to school sorta. I offered him a ride since he lived down the street." I said as I slide my shoes off. "Oh, that was nice of you." He said. "How was the bonfire?" He asked. "It was great. I'm wore out. Just glad its Friday." "Yea, well tomorrow, me and your mother are going over to my parents house. Kimmy had her baby so we gonna meet the little fella." "Oh, tell aunt Kimmy hi for me." "Sure will. Goodnight sweetie, get some rest." "Sure am daddy. Love you." I said as I reached up and kissed his cheek then headed up to my room. Tonight was a win win for me. I got to somewhat talk to my crush but even got to ride with him. Let's just say, I surrender for tonight. There may not be a next time for that but I ain't holding my breathe.
