Detective Cindy Sparrow perched on the edge of her partner’s desk and handed him the jump drive.
“That the latest footage of the Twin Cities’ so-called Porch Pirate?” posed Detective Horatio Hawk.
“Yep. The victim, one Abigail Wannamaker, took it right off her doorbell system. Claims it gives us an image of the perp that’s better than those being pedaled by local TV news crews.”
Those images had been either blurred or capturing nothing but the back of a head.
Hawk installed the drive in his computer. “It had better. The Captain wants us to end the pillaging of the Porch Pirate ASAP.”
The video showed a young man with dark scruff on his face walk brazenly up to the Wannamakers’ front porch, hoist a cardboard box, to his shoulder, and walk away.
