CHAPTER TWELVE

LIAM POV

“Thank you for coming, James.” I shaked his hand.

“Oh I am glad I did come today. At least I was about to meet a very lovely lady in your company today.” he smiled.

For some reason, I could tell he was looking so happy when he walked into my office. I didn't know the reason was because of a lady.

I let out a smirk as I watched him leave.

I sat down and looked at my wristwatch.

We really spent a lot of time talking.

I picked up my telephone and dialled Fiona's desk.

“Yes boss.”

“I thought I told you to send for Ava Wilson to come to my office?” I asked her.

“Yea you did, and I sent for her. But when she came you were having a visitor so she waited for a while before leaving to use the restroom. She will be back soon because she didn't go that far. She went to the rooftop.” she answered.

The rooftop?

But there is no restroom in the rooftop.

“Fiona are you sure she went there?” I asked her.

“Yes Alpha she did. Actually, it looks like something is bothering her because she left with tears in her eyes.” she said.

I dropped the telephone and rushed out of my office.

Just hearing that she was crying really broke my heart, and I wanted to find out who the hell made her cry.

I ran up to the rooftop.

I opened the door and walked only to see her right there. It seems she is on a call with someone.

Who is she talking to?

I know it's bad, but I have no other choice but to eavesdrop on her conversation out of curiosity.

“Lance just got married, and he is going to be a dad. His new wife is pregnant with a big bump.”

Who the hell is Lance, and why is she crying over him?

I was confused.

I used my werewolf special hearing to listen to what the person on the phone was saying.

“So that bastard actually got a lady pregnant while he was still under your roof, and he didn't say anything about it? Wait, if he was going to get married to that girl, then why did he still fight to stay in your house? I see so he decided to go live with his other b***h. Wow amazing. Hahahaha Lance you are in deep shit.”

He what? What an animal.

How dare he treat my mate like that?

He is so disgusting. I can't believe such a person exist.

How can someone do such a thing to my beautiful mate?

Now I get why she sounds so broken.

“Do not tell me to calm down Ava. That bastard cheated on you, betrayed you, broke your heart and now he is trying to live a happy life after everything he did to you. Like I will sit down and watch that happen. Hahaha never. Not going to happen. I will make him feel the pain you are feeling right now.”

I smiled nodding my head in support of what the lady just said.

I don't know her but I am so impressed with her braveness.

I silently listened to everything they talking about. I felt relieved that her friend had helped her to stop crying.

Then I heard the friend advice her to go home to rest.

“This isn't my office back in London. I can't just request for a leave when this is the second day I am working here. I have to just work. I will be fine.”

You aren't fine my beautiful mate. You need go rest. No one is forcing you to work here.

You need to worry about yourself first before worrying about work.

I said to myself.

I can't talk to her now till she is done with her phone call and she is ready to talk to me.

Finally she ended the call.

I stood and watched her. I was expecting she will stay here for a while. I wasn't expecting her to turn her back.

Her scream made my heart to skip a beat.

If I wasn't here, only heavens know how I will rush to safe her if she was in danger.

She looked startled to see me.

I already know there is no way out of this. She has already caught me, so there is no need to hide anymore.

“Mr Welles.....”

From her voice, I could tell she was feeling uneasy seeing me. So I decided to just leave. But before that;

“You can take a break. You can't work in this condition. Two days break is fine, right?”

Then I walked away.

I know she won't ask for a break because I heard her earlier, so it's best to give it to her. She needs to rest.

I entered Fiona's office.

“Fiona I need you to help me out with something.” I said.

“Okay? What is it, and why do you have to sound so urgent?” she asked.

“Because it is urgent. I want you to make sure Ava doesn't work today. I have granted her a day off for today and also tomorrow. Please ensure she leaves the company grounds immediately.” I said.

“Wait a minute, Liam, this is getting out of hand. First of all you gave her special benefits which you have never given to anyone. Now you want to give her a two days break. May I ask what is the reason for doing all this just for that human?” she asked, raising her eyebrows.

“I will explain it to you later. Right now, please just do what I said you should do. It is important and urgent too.” I said before leaving her office and going into my office.

I sat down and wanted to continue working, but I couldn't.

My mind kept going to her.

I felt so uneasy that she was going through a heartbreak and it's affecting her this bad.

I wish the dude was not in London. I wish he was here in New York City. That way, it will be easier to punish him for hurting her and making her cry.

I really wish her friend earlier would really punish him.

Or should I go to London and do it myself?

But I know nothing about her ex. So it will be hard to find him.

And I really don't want to investigate on her just yet.

I would like for her to tell me all about herself without finding her information from elsewhere.

I heard the telephone ring.

I quickly picked it up.

“Hello.”

“She has gone home. She told me to tell you thank you before she left.”

I let out a loud sigh, feeling so relieved that she would go to rest.

“Thank you, Fiona.” I said.

“Don't thank me just yet. Just know you have a lot of explanations to do when we get home.” she said before hanging up.

I shaked my head, knowing I couldn't escape this even if she was my Beta female. She is still my best friend who is mated to my other best friend.

After another stressful day at work attending meetings and all, I finally arrived home.

I badly needed to just lay on my bed and sleep.

But when I entered my house, I was greeted by two people.

“Finally the boss is back. I heard something interesting so I am here to hear more from you.” My best friend and beta Theo said with a smirk on his face.

The culprit who told everything was sitting beside him with a huge smile on her face.

I growled at Fiona.

“Growling isn't what we came for. We came to hear everything.” Theo said.

“At least can I just freshen up from the sweat and dirt of today?” I asked them.

“Three minutes. You have just three minutes to finish. Now hurry up.” he said, ordering me like he is superior over me.

Maybe he has forgotten I am the alpha and not him.

I went to my bedroom.

I took my time to take my bath before wearing my light pyjamas.

As I joined my friends, my maid walked out with my food.

“Don't worry. Just take it up to my bedroom. I will eat after I am done with these two. You can go now.” I told her.

After she left, the two of them sat beside me, putting me in the middle.

“Speak already. I want to know who that girl is to you.” Theo said.

“Is she someone special to you, or is it something different?” Fiona asked.

“Alright Ava is my mate.” I announced.

They both let out a gasp like they were shocked.

“Oh my friend. Finally, you have found a mate. I thought it's when you had white hair that's when you would find your mate. I didn't expect the moon goddess to still love you. Congratulations, my friend. I am so happy for you, and I mean it.” Theo said, smiling.

“I am also happy for you, too. Ava is a good lady, and I like her already. She is going to be an amazing luna.” Fiona was smiling too.

“Hold on a minute, are you forgetting something here?” I asked.

“Something like what?” they both asked together.

“Something like she is actually a human? Fiona, did you forget to tell him that she is a human?” I asked them.

“And so what if she is a human? She is still perfect and we don't mind. Or do you have an issue with her being human?” Theo asked.

“Of course not. I am happy with whatever she is. I was thinking you won't accept her because she is different.” I told them.

“Oh don't think too much. We are fine. Anyways, when are you bringing her to pack, and when are you introducing her to everyone?” he asked again.

“Well for that question, I need time to convince her first. You know I can't just walk up to her and tell her who we are. So I need to take things slow with her. You both should not tell anyone about this, including your parents, because I am also keeping this a secret too.” I told them.

“As you wish, alpha.” they said together with a smirk on their faces.

For some reason, I could hear a voice telling me it's a wrong idea to believe them.
