Chapter 37 Just Take My Chance

“You don’t have to explain. They’ve got it all investigated.” Chairman Martin smiled and led Vincent to another man. He was a middle-aged man, sharing a rich aura around him. As for the old man in Tang suit, he stood aside as if he was a servant of the middle-aged man. “May I introduce...” Chairman Martin pointed to the middle-aged man and said to Vincent, “President of Elliot Industrial Group, Thorne Elliot.” “What? Who?” Vincent was taken aback. “Elliot Industrial Group! Have you never heard of Elliot Industrial Group here in Fairfax?!” Chairman Martin was stunned. “Uh, no, no, I’ve heard so much about it...” Vincent nodded hurriedly, then looked at the middle-aged man in front of him, and stretched out his hand, “...” “Thorne Elliot, President Elliot.” Chairman Martin pushed Vincent speechlessly. “President Elliot, it’s a pleasure to meet you.” Vincent hurriedly greeted him. “Well, hello, boy.” Thorne also smiled and shook Vincent’s hand. “Since Chairman Martin has regarded you as his brother, may I do the same?” “Are you trying to steal him from me, man?” Chairman Martin rolled his eyes. “Don’t get me wrong. I just want to make friends with such young talent!” Thorne smiled and shook Vincent’s hand. “Martin, how do you know that I am here?” Vincent scratched his head embarrassedly. “Hehe, you have to thank Mr. Grey for this.” Chairman Martin pointed to the old man in Tang suit who was standing next to Thorne. His clothes seemed very smooth and comfortable. “My friend, I’m glad to see you again!” Mr. Grey held his hands in front of his chest. “Pleasure to meet you, too, Mr. Grey.” Vincent stretched out his hand first but then held Mr. Grey’s hands as well to show respect. “Here is the thing. Right after you left the antique firm, I was afraid that someone might be up to no good to hurt you, so I sent my men to follow your car. As expected, they found those who rubbed the treasure from you...” Mr. Grey paused for a moment before he continued, “That’s why I notified Mr. Elliot, and then he connected Chairman Martin. Only then did they know the relationship between you two, so we all rushed our way here.” “I see! Thank you, Mr. Grey, and thank you, Martin and Mr. Elliot.” Vincent held his hands again. Thorne smiled and put the brocade box in Vincent’s hand again, “Vincent, here is your belonging.” Vincent took the brocade box and weighed it. Feeling the Iron Credential still in the box, he couldn’t help but hold his hands again. “Oh, come on, man. Are you living in ancient times or something? Let’s save the politeness and leave here first. Come with me.” Martin shook his hand and then headed out. Elliot, out of Vincent’s expectation, led him out respectfully. Vincent was confused to be treated that way, wondering why such a big figure valued him that much. Out of the interrogation room, Chairman Martin took them to an office directly. “Director’s Office” was written above the door. “Come in. It’s my brother’s office. Just suit yourselves.” Chairman Martin smiled, opened the door, and led them in before he closed it. “Have a seat, please.” Chairman Martin poured water for the three of them as casually as he had just gone back home. Mr. Grey, however, stood beside Thorne, back-handed, and the latter took Vincent to sit on the sofa, looking at him with a smile. Vincent was really flattered and couldn’t help scratching his head, “Mr. Elliot, have we... met before?” “Didn’t I just meet you?” Thorne smiled, took a cup of tea made by Chairman Martin, and placed it in front of Vincent. Vincent couldn’t stand it anymore, so he hurriedly stood up with the tea as if he was about to serve it, “Mr., Mr. Elliot, what’s this for? I’m so flattered to be treated like this since this is the first time that we meet each other.” “Eh?” Thorne smiled in embarrassment, while Mr. Grey shook his head. “Mr. Elliot, you are the president of a big group, but I’m just a nobody. You may treat me this way because of Martin, but please, I can’t afford that.” Vincent said a lot as he served the tea in front of Thorne. “Hahahaha.” Thorne and Mr. Grey both laughed out, and even Martin nudged Thorne to stop the game. “Come on, let him breathe, will you?” “Good! You are a good lad.” Thorne looked at Vincent with a smile and nodded, “With such talent, you are still humble. No wonder both Chairman Martin and Mr. Grey spoke highly of you.” “Haha.” Vincent still scratched his head in a daze. Did the man just test his personality? “That’s true.” Mr. Grey also nodded. “Vincent not only has sharp eyes to see through the inkstone in the firm, but also is courageous, cautious, and calm. He is going to have a bright future.” “I just got lucky.” “Hahaha, if you happen to get luck on this, I’m afraid nobody is gonna be luckier than you!” Thorne shook his head in disbelief. “Alright, President Elliot, just get to the point!” Chairman Martin sipped the tea as he said. Vincent had no idea what they meant, so he looked at them at a loss. Thorne nodded, and then looked at Vincent respectfully, “Vincent, I’ll get it straight then. You see, I’d like to ask you to do me a favor...” “Me?” Vincent nodded, “So, is anybody in bad health?” “Oh, no, no, no. Chairman Martin has told me that you are a brilliant doctor and I’m aware of that. But right now, I’m talking about something else.” Thorne pointed to the brocade box Vincent had put on the coffee table, “May I take a look at the Iron Credential for Forgiveness?” “Yeah, sure. Not a big deal.” Vincent nodded hurriedly, took the box over, and looked at Thorne, “Mr. Elliot, didn’t you take a look at it when you held it just now?” “No, of course not! It’s such a unique treasure and it would be rude to peek at it without your permission.” Thorne shook his head and waved his hands, seeming like a quality people indeed. Vincent smiled, “Mr. Elliot, you are one of the classy kinds, aren’t you?” As he said so, he had already shown the Iron Credential in front of Thorne. And the office was suddenly brightened. Thorne was obviously astonished, wore his glasses and gloves hurriedly, and then took the Iron Credential with both hands in a pious manner. Even Mr. Grey, who had already seen it in the antique firm, approached respectfully, staring at the thing in Thorne’s hand while passing over a magnifying glass. Martin also got close to them, frowning and staring at the thing, which was said to be a national, unique, and significant treasure.
