_____________________ . . . ||EMILY VENSON|| . It was a brand new day. There's nothing I hate more than having to wake up to the alarm. I like to wake up at my own pace but week days just do not allow that kind of luxury. I sighed as I turned off the alarm on my phone and jumped off my bed. I stretched and did a few jumping jacks to loosen my stiff muscles before I walked over to my closet to pick out some clothes. I decided on cozy worn-out baggy jeans and a beige crop top with a denim jacket over it. I pulled out my white sneakers from the bottom rack and laid my clothes and underwear on my bed before making my way to the bathroom. I brushed in the shower. Call me weird, but I am just too used to it. I let the warm water wash my skin as I used my face wash and scrubbed my lavender body wash on with my super soft blue loofah. I dried myself with a towel and wrapped my hair in another one and walked out in my silky bath robe, I sat down before the mirror, rubbing on my berry-scented lotion and blow-drying my hair. I was not in the mood for make up but some of us are not born with clean and clear skin, so we have to use all the primers and concealers to tone down the zombie look a bit. I am an above averager in the beauty department but it takes effort you know. The real me looks like I have not been sleeping for a week and that kind of look on the first day of school? Hahaha, that, my ladies, is what we call (in Mean Girls' term) social suicide. I was leaving before Auntie to avoid the unnecessary spotlight on me as the Principal's niece. We only had one car. My Aunt was against me driving after what happened to my parents. I had a bit of a PTSD and she was scared something would happen to me if it was triggered while I am driving. A bit paranoid. But that was just her love. So I was ubering to school for the day. . . . Thanking the driver, I got out of the cab. And as soon as I entered the premises, all eyes were on me. Um.. Why? It was the first day of school and there were going to a lot of freshmen so I honestly don't see why majority of them had their eyes set on me. It's not like they could say I was a new sophomore! Then again, it was a small town; everyone knew everyone. Did they already know I was the new Principal's niece? Even if that was the case, what's the freaking big deal? I shrugged off my nervousness and walked into the red-brick building. It was neat and smelled nice and was newly painted. Hopefully it will stay the same till the end of the year. Which was unlikely. There were whispers as I made my way through the corridor, scanning the lockers for 156. 154..155... I stopped and rolled my eyes. A couple was making out, pressed onto my locker.(Where have I seen this before?) Why can't all this cliché just stay in the movies? Can I clear my throat or ask them to get a room? Nope. Another con of being mute. So I marched over to the horny teenagers exchanging saliva and tapped on the guy's shoulder. He just swatted my hand away and continued. Come on. I was about to do it again when the guy was pulled by the back of the shirt and thrown to the ground. I turned around and came face to face with the most gorgeous caramel orbs in the world. "You are welcome." He winked before walking away. I blinked and turned to my locker to see the girl look at her boyfriend or fling or whoever he was to her, still dazed. Is she on c***k early in the morning? I nudged her to move and she quickly did, thankfully not taking anything out on me. I didn't even bother minding the two as I quickly grabbed my books for Homeroom, English. I was way early so I was already seated at the far back of the class, near the window when the first bell rang and students started filing in. Three of them had walked in, stared at me, and started whispering among themselves before she appeared. Wearing a pair of high-waisted black leggings and a green tank top, a leather backpack and very high heels to go with it, her face made perfectly and her sleek black hair in a high ponytail, she walked in, lighting up the whole room. There was no doubt she was the beauty among the sophomores. The three others looked at her in awe, probably hoping she would next to them. Her eyes landed on me and widened, a mischievous grin on her face. "Finally, you are here!" She squealed. The other three turned to me so did the few who came in after her. I blinked. I didn't look behind me because I knew I was at the very back. Was she talking to me though? Maybe she mistook me for someone else? She hurried towards me. Whoa, she has mastered the art of fast-walking in heels. She dropped her bag on the desk right in front of mine and swung her leg over the chair, resting her arms on it as she sat backwards, grinning at me. "I have waited sixteen years for you, my best friend!" She squealed, her forest greens twinkling. I raised an eyebrow. Huh? HUH? "Oh, I am Vivian Salters by the way. The one and only." She flipped her gorgeous long hair. I smiled at her nervously before fishing out my digital drawing pad while she watched me, confused. I turned it on and scribbled out. Hi, I am Emily Venson. ̶I ̶c̶a̶n'̶t ̶s̶p̶  It's nice to meet you Vivian.  As you might have already figured out, I am mute. I handed the pad to her. Her eyebrows furrowed as she read it and then looked up and gave me a sad pout before it morphed into a smirk. "Don't expect any special treatments from me, bestie. Mute or not, I am gonna treat you like sh*t." I pursed my lips before I gave up and burst out laughing. Finally, someone who didn't treat me like some delicate doll! Or at least she was pretending like she wasn't going to. I quickly grabbed the pad and wrote down. But why did you decide on me being your friend? She read it and tilted her head, "Friend? You are not just a friend. You are my best friend." But why? I scrunched up my face. "Because you freaking showed Brandon Stone his place." She grinned. I furrowed my forehead. Wait a minute, how did you know that? Before I could get the pad back to ask, she answered. "Oh the whole school knows about it honey." . . . __________________
