Six weeks later
After Robbie recovered from his stubborn case of pneumonia, everyone agreed it was time for him to begin to reintegrate into normal life. The first week he could go out, he bought a GED prep manual. Because of all the time he spent at the library and the manual, his photographic memory allowed him to pass the test for his GED with ease.
Robbie took the waiters/subs class with Bull, and Jake arranged for Robbie to get all of his papers. Tom took Robbie to pick up his birth certificate at the satellite office of the Bureau of Vital Statistics in Red Bank. They also stopped in Hamilton for a copy of his parents’ death certificates.
