Chapter 18 On the other side of the world, at the Begert Air Force Base, military leaders tackle a different problem. They struggle to understand the trail of attacks. Admiral Parker thinks he might have figured it out and calls Taylor. “Can you meet with me? I’ve got information.” “I’ll be there in five.” Then Parker calls Gruner. “Taylor and I are meeting in five minutes. Would you join us?” “Absolutely. See you momentarily.” Parker makes steady improvements and walks short distances. He even manages to get in and out of bed with minimal discomfort. In preparation for the meeting, he moves slowly over to a chair by the windows. Taylor and Gruner arrive at the same time, eager to hear what Parker says.
