Chapter One:
Vampires are nothing but fiction, right?
—
Third Person’s Point of View
“Get your cold blooded hands off of me!”
Arth yelled on top of her lungs while trashing and wriggling in the two royal guard’s holds. She tried exerting more force and effort to escape but both of them were obviously stronger than her. Even their build alone was enough for her to know that she did not stand a chance, despite that still she tried.
Earlier she thought that she had the chance to outsmart them but just their hold on her was enough to tell her that she could not get out of it.
She was not just going to let these two drag her to her hell.
Obviously, with everything she learned from Minari earlier, it is clear to her that she is being serve to the Vampire Prince in this kingdom.
“This would be easier if you would stay still.” The guard with the curly chestnut colored hair hissed. After he said those words, his fangs showed and Arth almost flinched at the sight.
Clearly he was trying to scare her off since it naturally frightens humans whenever they would be difficult to deal with during times like this.
However, he was baffled when it did not have any effect on Arth.
In spite of that, she let out a huff. The annoyance was showing on her face. “This would be easier if you would just let me go.” Arth pressed back, not backing down.
Everything that had been told to her earlier has not really sunken into her mind yet.
On the back of her mind, she still felt like Arden was pulling some kind of ploy to her. After all, Arden had always been the one who is best at doing these stunts. He has this reputation that no one can beat him with all of the pranks that he pulled at almost everyone in the House Wfauzhle. Even the servants and maids were victims of such childlike play.
Which is why Arth is close to his three older brothers other than the firstborn and second born son. The age gap is one thing but since they both have many tasks at hand, they rarely have a time to play with Arth.
Knowing Arden, the fifth born and the last son of their parents, he would definitely go through the ends of the kingdom just so he could do the things that he wanted… even if that meant that it was just a childish scheme.
Everything is going smoothly if this was really what Arden planned all along.
Although, the only thing that bothered Arth earlier was the fact that the second that the royal guards touched her skin, she almost shivered by their cold touch. Their pale white skin was glistening in the dark and it was cold.
Like it was dead…. Like they were really dead.
Arth knew that it was not possible. Despite the pale skin and other creepy things, they still look human. They appear to be in good shape too like they were not starving to death. The royal guards’ built were almost the same as the royal guards that Arth had in the Zeindall Kingdom.
There was a look of amusement from both guards thinking that this one is a tough cookie. “Mortals.” They both mumbled while shaking their heads sideways, still amused. However, the grip on Arth’s arms was still strong despite the amusement.
They really do not have any intention of hurting mortals no matter how much they try to escape as it is one of the rules that the Kingston’s made. Knowing full well that if they ever tried to harm the humans that served as the juice bank for the royals, they would automatically be put in a grave situation as it’s mostly hard to harvest mortals nowadays.
As soon as they were out of the dungeon and out in the yard, Arth took a good look around the surroundings to check if she was still inside the House Wfauzhle but her heart sank knowing that the place was not even close to being familiar in her eyes.
Soon after, they entered a huge castle and Arth was astonished at the sight before her. Everything screamed fancy with a touch of authenticity seemingly like they kept the traditional look of the place but refurbished it to a much better aesthetic. Although, the place was too dark for her liking. It was clear that those who lived here did not fancy lights too much since everywhere she looked it was dim.
Judging by the surroundings alone, Arth had no means of knowing what date it was or what time it was. But since it was dark, she had this inkling feeling that it must be night time already.
That being said, there was an eerie and creepy feeling as she walked through the halls of the place. The guards seemed to be unfazed by this despite the fact that the castle was large enough to accommodate hundreds of people and yet they were the only ones venturing inside the place. She could not even hear any faintest sound aside from the shuffling of their feet.
“Must you drag me for ten minutes already? At this point, my feet are aching.” Arth blurted out the moment that they had been ascending the stairs. For her, it already felt like ages and they still haven’t reached their destination.
The other one with blonde hair released an annoyed sigh, “Mortal, we are nearing the place. Stop being so… human.” He pointed out, using the term as an insult seemingly as though it was enough to hurt her feelings.
Disregarding what he said, Kara suddenly remembered what Minari told her earlier. “So, about the Vampire Prince… what is he like?” She asked, confused by the rumor that what she was about to face was nothing but a monster.
The way she uttered the word ‘vampire’ even tasted wrong in her mouth.
Surely, this really felt like some kind of sitcom for her.
Making her almost shiver by the thought but she suppressed the urge to do so. Not wanting to even believe that vampires were real. Back in Zeindall Kingdom, there were books about it but there was no proof that they coexisted with humans.
Which is why Arth was both confused and curious about this whole ordeal.
Hesitating to answer, one of the guards knew that this human wouldn’t stop until she got what she wanted. So he spoke, “His Royal Highness is the embodiment of evil. He has done a lot of atrocious things but since he is a prince, he always gets pardoned for his vicious acts.” The man shuddered in fear, recollecting his thoughts about the prince. “His juice banks mostly do not last a day. Prince Jaeden seemed to relinquish his thirst by sucking his juice banks until they were drained of blood, causing their deaths.”
“Aside from that,” The other one interjected, causing Arth to avert her gaze to the man. “He never showed mercy to those who had always been begging to spare their lives after he was done drinking their blood.” He continued.
“Is he really that bad?” She managed to ask despite feeling like she wanted to shrink in her place.
The man on her left nodded, “Prince Jaeden Kingston is a monster.”
“His Royal Highness is the one that is feared the most in the entire Vladyn Kingdom, Miss. That alone spoke a lot of volume.” The man on the right added.
Gulping her saliva, Arth felt her mouth dried up from the information. “Does that mean I am going to die today?” She asked, her heart beating erratically inside her ribcage.
“Most certainly.” Both of the guards answered in unison.
Arth was silent for a mean time. Not because she was scared but mostly because she was weighing her options down.
If this Prince Jaeden was really a so-called ‘Demon Prince’, she needs to plan an escape as early as now.
Arth does not think that her brother, Arden, would let a prank last this so long. All of their schemes usually ended on a good ten minutes mark before any of them would scream the words “I got you!” and then laugh their stomachs out.
“There is a sudden change of events. Prince Jaeden seemed to have an abrupt meeting.” One of the royal guards muttered, holding out a hand to the earpiece that Arth only noticed right now.
Wow, now they are like some kind of secret agent, huh? Arth thought to herself. Due to the fact that the royal guards in their palace never had such a device. Even her personal knight did not have anything like that. The only means for them to communicate was to ride a freaking horse and then tell the person personally what they needed to tell them.
Arth thought that it was the same in all of the kingdoms.
“Does that mean I can go now?” She queried as soon as she heard such unexpected news. So she wriggled herself once more in their hold, “I should be off then. It was nice meeting the two of you.” Arth casually greeted before them and was about to do a curtsy when all of a sudden the gripped on her arms tightened.
“We will move you to another room for the meantime.” The one on her right implied. “It is where blood banks used to wait for their vampire masters whenever they suddenly had an important meeting.” He added, clipped. And then continued on dragging Arth once again. Disregarding the discomfort that she is now feeling.
Her feet were aching like crazy. If she only had known that she was going to be dragged like this, she should have shown them some basic self-defense earlier.
Countless times, Arth asked Sir Frederick to personally train her with some combat training since she did not like her personal trainer at that time. It was a woman and all she ever did was flirt with her brothers and not give a single f**k about training Arth. It had always irritated her so in the end, she ended up firing the woman.
Sir Frederick had been keen on training her and would tend to her whenever Arth wanted to learn some moves that would put her in an advantage. Numerous times, she had been complimented by her personal knight, who is considered to be one of the best royal knights in the Zeindall Kingdom.
Arth could easily think of a plan as to how she will get out of their hold but there was something deep inside her that was stopping her. Like a gut feeling of her was telling her to see these things through. And in a way, she was unsure why she wanted to listen to her instincts even though it might put her in some kind of danger.
“Can I just go back to the dungeon? I think it would be much better there.” She suggested the royal guards beside her. Not that she wanted to walk more that would eventually make her feel like her legs were about to fall off. But due to the fact that for the shortest time that she had mnet Minari Dyer, Arth already felt like she was her friend.
Because that is what she needed right now.
A friend.
Or she will absolutely go bonkers with all these shits that she is experiencing.
In Zeindall Kingdom, she was used to having her lady-in-waiting and her personal knight by her side to accompany her wherever she was in the palace. Aside from that she had five older brothers, three of them which she was closest to and they all made sure that Arth was not deprived of the care, love, and attention that she needed. And right now that she was alone in a place she did not have a knowledge of, there was this loneliness feeling swirling inside her.
“We have been commanded that once a vampire master calls for their juice bank, they can wait at the lobby while their master finishes the meeting. Therefore we can not let you go back to the dungeon.” The blonde royal guard explained, being patient towards Arth who seemed to have a lot of questions rather than other humans who were just always screaming and thrashing in their holds.
It was also a breath of fresh air to them.
The royal guard on the left shook his head sideways as a sign of disagreement. “The lobby is full of foods and drinks that you can eat. I bet you are famished yourself.” He commented teasingly. As if he had known what Arth was feeling at the moment.
As if on cue, Arth’s stomach grumbled at the thought of food. The two royal guards heard the sound and it caused a set of laughter from their mouths.
On the other hand, Arth was not sure if she felt embarrassed or if she felt the need to roll her eyes. In a sense, these two royal guards beside her pose not great to her and aside from that their banters made her feel like she was just with her older brothers. So at some point in this bizarre event, Arth felt comforted.
Must that be the reason why the plans of escaping this place seemed like it was out of the window?
Surely, Arth did not want to spend her day in a place where she does not know anyone.
Being a princess in the Zeindall Kingdom, it was her duty and task everyday to be socialite with anyone that could pose a gain to their kingdom. Even though she only met them at that particular day, there is this pretension that she needed to have whenever there are gatherings like that.
Not that she was sociable anyway.
If Arth does not like a particular person, she made sure that it was clear to them. Since she did not want to be a two-faced biatch just for the sake of her title in Zeindall Kingdom.
The moment that they arrived in the lobby, Arth was pulled out of her trance and was welcomed with varieties of food and drinks on the buffet table.
Maybe this is not so bad, after all? She thought to herself.
“Wow! What’s the party about?” She questioned looking at the two royal guards.
They both let out a laugh, mocking Arth that had a confused look on her face. “Your last day in this realm.”
