Xander’s POV
Standing in the ring staring at the young girl in front of me, made me want to do just what Jacob had done, but I knew I couldn't do that. I had personally set out on a mission that day, that she would submit before this was all said and done, I would make sure of it, because there was no way I was submitting to her. She would have to knock me out cold before I submitted to her or anyone else.
We stepped forward acknowledging time to begin, I already knew I would have to make the first move because she wouldn’t, so I wasted no time as I threw a punch, she caught it in the blink of an eye and twisted my arm down before letting go. I threw another punch and again she caught it and threw it to the side. I quickly realized this was not going to work I needed her to fight, I needed to see what cards she was holding.
“Alright Sin, you are going to have to fight, you can’t just block. I want to see what you are made of.” She stood there stunned for a minute, like she didn't expect me to speak to her or something.
She composed herself quickly and smirked my direction, “So, like sparring, not fighting right?” She questioned.
Before I had time to answer she threw a punch catching me in the gut and caused me to grunt and grab my stomach. She packed a lot of power for such a little thing I had to give her credit for that.
“So, I guess you want to break me, huh?” She taunted me as she leaned over and whispered in my ear.
I looked up and grinned, I don't know where that girl came from, but I just a glimpse of someone hiding in there and it only intrigued me more. “I see you are smart girl, and you will submit by the time we are done.” I raised up throwing a punch catching her in the jaw and as fast as her head snapped back, she was back staring me in the eye and smiling.
“Alright then, let’s do this.” She laughed and threw another punch, this time catching my nose, and I knew I heard it pop and I swear I saw tweety bird for a split second.
For the next thirty minutes we fought, she could take a punch and never show any signs of pain. I hit her with almost everything I had, the eye, the nose, the ribs, I took her knees out a couple times. I flipped her on her back, and she lunged back to her feet effortlessly. She kicked and punched like a strong man, if my eyes were closed, I would swear I was fighting with someone much older and stronger.
She spit blood out a few times and kept coming. The more I saw her in action the more I knew I was going to have to find this girl’s story out, but it was time to stop playing around, I grabbed her and knocked her feet out from under her causing us to both topple over with me landing on top of her and her arms pinned behind her. She struggled like a wild mustang until she had me on my stomach and she was straddled across my back. I am not even really sure how she done it and I made a quick mental note to be sure to ask later, but I couldn't think about it too much, I had to get her off me. Wreathing underneath her I quickly realized she had two different pressure points pressed on my legs with her knees and one on my shoulder, pressure points that I didn’t even know existed, that were to the point of almost immobilizing me. Trying to figure out how to get free, the next thing I knew I felt her breath on my ear.
“Xander please forgive me." She pleaded with sincerity in her voice, "Neither one of us is going to submit, so I have to do this.” She raised back up and I felt her hand around my neck and then everything went black.
Sin’s POV
“And your winner is Sin! Sin welcome to the Warrior Training Club.” Mr. Russell announced over the PA as I stood over top of an unconscious Xander. I hated that I had to do that, but I knew it was the only way. I wasn’t going to submit to him, and I knew he wasn’t going to submit to me, so I had to use the pressure point on his neck to knock him out.
“That is not fair Mr. Russell, Xander didn’t submit that witch just hurt him, and he is unconscious.” Jess screamed as she ran to Xander’s side.
“I assure you Jess I didn't hurt him. I only did him a favor, so he didn’t have to submit and neither did I. He will be awake in about five minutes. But be sure to have him a bottle of water.” And with that I walked away while she laid over his body and cried like he was dead and screamed horrible words at me.
“That was pretty awesome, let’s go get you cleaned up before the party.” Eva grabbed my arm and started leading me to the facility. “And what did you do to my brother?”She asked as she looked over her shoulder at him laying there.
“I just let him sleep, we all know he wasn’t going to submit, and neither was I. One of us was going to get seriously hurt so I just let him sleep. But I promise I didn’t hurt him in anyway.” I assured her. “And um, what party?”
“Oh, dad is throwing a congratulatory party for winning, you will be inducted this evening, so let’s go.” Claire joined us quickly and the three of us rushed upstairs to our room to get ready. I wasn't sure about a party, but I was sure about being in away from these people and in the sanctuary of my room.
Xander’s POV
“Hey man, welcome back to the living,” Jake stood over top of me offering me a hand. Looking around I noticed everyone had left, Jess was crying like a baby next to me, and Jake was smirking.
I grabbed his hand and came to my feet, “Dude what happened?”
“Man, you got beat.” He laughed, Jess was now standing beside me holding my arm and trembling, I tried to push her away and she just clung harder.
“What, what are you talking about? And Jess why are you acting like that.” And then it hit me, Sin apologized in my ear, before everything went dark. “What did she do to me?”
“Baby I thought you were dead, that stupid little trash is going to pay.” I just shook her off and wrapped my arm around Jake leaving a sobbing Jess standing by herself.
“Man, what happened?” I whispered to Jake.
“She knew that neither of you would submit. And she knew that one of you was going to get seriously hurt so she ended it without either of you submitting or getting seriously hurt. And before you get angry you should really think twice about giving that girl a hard time, she is pretty awesome if you ask me.”
“Yea," I admitted in a whisper as I scratched the back of my head. " I think I need to come around to you and dad’s way of thinking.”
With those words I left Jess and Jake standing there and headed to my room. I really needed to think about all this, there was something about this girl that dad knew and wasn’t saying. At that point I didn’t know if she really knew who she was. Running over the fight in my head, there was something there, I had refused to admit it all this time, but in being honest to myself, I could feel it when she was around me, her aura was strong and emitted so much power it was hard to mistake, maybe that's why I had a hard time connecting with her, maybe mine and her powerful aura together was fighting each other. Come to think of it though, I hadn’t heard anyone else talk about the aura she emitted, only her physical strength, and I hadn’t even let myself truly notice until today being around her in the ring, then I wondered if it was something she could control, or if it was something she even knew she emitted off her like tsunami waves.
“Hey son,” my dad called out as I entered our living room headed toward my bedroom. “Your mother is organizing the ceremony, we will begin at eight, so go get cleaned up and ready to go. And Xander, I expect you to treat that girl with respect she deserves it, she proved that today, if nothing else.”
“Yea about her dad, I have a question while I am thinking about it.”
“Okay ask.” He patted the couch for me to sit down.
“There is something that I can’t put my finger on with her. She is powerful, very powerful, but I don’t think she knows it.”
“You are right about that. I am doing some research but haven’t found anything yet. I can’t put my finger on it, but there is definitely something unique and special about her. And that power I felt it the first day she came. However, I think you are right, she has no idea.”
“Can you sense her aura?”
“No, I know it is there, but she controls it, I felt a flash of it a couple of times, but it was for a split second and I couldn’t get a good sense of it. Why do you ask?”
“Because I can, and it would make the strongest quiver. But as soon as you feel it it’s gone, and I don’t understand.”
“I think when her guard is down, and she fully trusts you then you sense it. Or when her emotions are not in check. I don’t know if you noticed but she controls her emotions extremely well, I have only ever met one other person that could control them like that and that was many, many, many years ago.”
“Dad what was Jake talking about, about her scars?" I couldn't help the questions as they poured out of my mouth, my mind was on overdrive. "I have saw a sneak-peak at them while she was stretching.”
“Xander I told you, you will have to talk to her. Her scars go along with her story, so not mine to tell. I promise if you give her a chance, she will make you a better person for it.” He smiled as I could see how proud he was of her.
I just rolled my eyes at dad before standing to head to my room, “I'll take that into consideration. When you do that research let me know what you find out. We need to find out what’s going on with her. You and I both know that if she is that powerful now, we need to find out what is going on and how to help her before she hits eighteen. That will mark the point of her leaving here and then we will not be able to help her.”
“I know son, I have my suspicions, and if it is what I think we have to do more than help her, especially if she has no clue.” He sighed.
With those words I left him sitting in the living room to head to my room. My dad’s words ringing in my ears, as much as I was going to make it my life’s mission to make her submit, right then I decided I needed to befriend her and find out what was really going on.
I stood in front of the mirror in the bathroom and looked myself over; my abdomen was starting to turn black and blue from her small fists and feet. She knocked the air out of me a few times, with those punches and kicks and I still couldn't understand how she packed such a mean punch. My lip was swollen and busted with dried blood running down my chin, there was definitely going to be a black eye, and I didn’t miss the boxer cut just above my eyebrow. And I couldn't get over how sore I was.
I only hoped the hot shower would help, but I couldn't get that one question out of my head, among many others; was how did she get so strong and who in the world trained her. I didn’t want to admit it, but Jake was right, I could see her training our recruits with no problem.
Climbing in the shower the thought hit me, I knew what I would do, I would get her alone tonight, I would make her talk to me.
