*Willa*
I arranged for an assistant to take Will home. Joel is right; I definitely don't want Levi to see him. Levi is not stupid; he would probably make the connection right away if he saw our son.
At least Joel agreed to let me tell Levi myself. I will when the time is right; we need to finish this episode for the show first. I fear he will become extremely angry and probably hate me.
I now realize that keeping it from him was wrong, but I was young and hurt. As I got older and wiser, I didn't know how to contact him, and then he became famous. Well, now it has just been so long.
Okay, so it seems like he hadn't been as big a jerk as I had thought back then. Maybe I owe him a chance to explain, at least.
And speaking of the devil, when I walk back on set, I see Levi already waiting. Joel, the director, and most of the crew are still on break, leaving us alone. I take a deep breath, trying not to show the turmoil inside me. "Hi Levi, you're back early."
"I wasn't really hungry, so I just got a bottle of water and came back here to rehearse," he says, shrugging. Once again, I marvel at how much Will looks like his father, not just physically but also in the little things they both do and their facial expressions.
I send him a smile and tell him the exact same thing I've told Will hundreds of times. "You should be eating; you don't exactly need to lose weight." They have the same tall, lean build.
"Then go out to dinner with me tonight, and I promise you that I will eat. Just as friends, to let me explain, let me make amends." He looks at me in a way I have to describe as hopeful.
Well, I promised myself to give him a chance to apologize, and it will be a lot easier to tell him if we are on friendly terms. "Okay, Levi, I will go to dinner with you."
"Thank you, Willa." He lights up with one of those breathtaking smiles that go all the way up into his eyes and light up his whole face.
I smile, hoping it looks friendly, hoping he can't see right through my facade to the mess underneath. Not knowing how to tell Levi about Will, not to mention how I'm going to tell Will about Levi.
Luckily for me, everyone else starts to arrive, and I don't have to be alone with Levi anymore. Right now, I can concentrate on getting this show done.
The day actually goes pretty well, and we get a lot of shooting done. Both Joel and Levi are professional and very easy to work with.
"So, if you give me your address, I'll pick you up at 6 o'clock," Levi tells me with a smile when we are done for the day and ready to leave.
I shake my head, but when I see his smile faltering, I hurriedly say, "Can we meet here at the studio? I have to come back later to check on some things, so it will be easier."
"Of course, Willa, if that's easiest for you. So, see you here at 6 o'clock," he says, smiling at me and giving me a soft kiss on the cheek before leaving.
I hurry home to take a shower and change into something fit for a date with Levi. I end up choosing an emerald green strapless skater dress, pretty but not too much, and the color sets off the green in my eyes. I want to look good but not as if I'm trying too hard, or like I am out to score.
As I walk into the living room, Will looks up at me, his blue eyes going wide. "Do you have a date, Mum?"
"Yeah, I actually do. Are you okay to be alone for a couple of hours? You can order a pizza; you know where the money is," I tell him. He's a good boy and very mature, so I have no problem leaving him alone for a couple of hours in our safe neighborhood..
He looks at me. "No problem, Mum. You look really beautiful. So, who are you going on a date with? It wouldn't happen to be Inspector Durant, would it?" He seems kind of excited.
"No, I hate to disappoint you, but not Inspector Durant. Joel happens to be happily married, so I had to go with Meteor Man instead," I say, winking at him.
He looks like his eyes are going to fall out of his head. "For real, Mum? You're going on a date with Levi Thomsen? Way to score."
"Well, your old mother still's got it," I say, giggling. My son happens to be a big superhero fan. "Yup, the one and only Levi Thomsen."
"Wow, I'm going to get so much attention at school when I tell them my mother is dating Levi Thomsen. Especially from the girls," he says with a grin.
Oh, he is most definitely his father's son, I think, shaking my head. "Hold your horses, Will. This is just one friendly date, work collegues, so please don't start rumors at school, okay?"
"Okay, but I get to meet him, right?" He asks, looking very excited, and I feel a pang of guilt. If he only knew. If anyone knew.
I send him a smile as I pick up my handbag, feeling the nerves start to appear. "Well, let's see how this date goes, okay?"
I hurry out to avoid any more questions from my son. At least he will hopefully get his wish and meet Levi at some point. It's just going to be quite a shock for him to realize he has a father.
