New Friend.

The dark brown wolf circled the white fox in a predatory manner before she ran between his legs and darted into the woods.  With a playful yip, the wolf ran behind.  The fox weaved in and out of the wolf’s legs causing him to howl with glee.  They ran over logs and through streams getting wet and full of dirt.  They even rolled down a grassy hill into a meadow full of flowers and butterflies.  The brown wolf licked her white fur, and she leaned into him and closed her eyes.  Their bliss was interrupted by the annoying blare of an alarm clock.               I opened my eyes, thoroughly annoyed.  I wanted the wonderful dream to continue.  Being happy was not something I was used to, and I was completely happy in the dream.  Sighing, I looked up at the moldy concrete ceiling.  ‘One more day, Darcy.  Tomorrow we will be free.’  I repeated to myself as I got out of bed.  I quickly cleaned up and looked at the bruise I got last night when Uncle Dieter hit me for dripping soup on the floor.  He made me lick it up with my tongue before using a washcloth.  ‘Trash can lap up their mistakes like some mongrel dog.’ He told me while my aunt and cousins roared with laughter.  Then he punched me             ‘One more day,’ I repeated.  I got dressed in my usual outfit of worn jeans and a t-shirt.  I sat on the bed and dug my money ouch out from under the mattress.  I counted it again and had nearly a thousand dollars I collected from doing homework and other odd jobs.   I smiled at the thought of leaving.             “Darcy!” Brandy’s shrill voice called from the top of the stairs.              I jumped and quickly tucked my pouch under the bed as she sauntered down the stairs in her nightclothes.  “What, Brandy?” I asked her.             “What are you doing?” She asked suspiciously.             “Sitting on my bed.  Did you need something?” I asked her and stood up.             She held out one of her blouses.  “I stained my favorite blouse, and I want to wear it today.  You know how to get stuff out of it.”             “What did you stain it with?” I asked as I took it from her and walked over to the washer and dryer.             “c*m,” She giggled. “Felix and I went at it pretty hard last night.”             I had to refrain from rolling my eyes.  “And you want to wear this again today?” I asked.             “It’s pink Friday, duh,” She flipped her hair.  “Have it done so I can wear it to school?”             “Fine,” I mumbled and got to work on the blouse.  I squirted my special concoction to remove the stain, put it in the washer, and ran upstairs to start breakfast.  My stomach growled as I was cooking the bacon.  I wished I could eat something.  Aunt Jean said if I were good, she would let me eat something tomorrow for my birthday.  Buddy said he would bring me one of his Mom’s muffins.  My mind drifted off thinking about it.             “Trash!” My aunt barked, causing me to jump.             I turned to her and poured her coffee.  “How is our morning, Aunt Jean?”             She sipped her coffee and sneered.  “Looking at you first thing never helps.”             I sighed as she walked away.  I plated the bacon and ran downstairs to switch Brandy’s blouse over to the dryer.  I rushed back up the stairs to finish breakfast. I  got it plated and ready for the family to scarf down.  While they ate, I cleaned the kitchen and wrote down what groceries were needed.  I pulled a chicken out of the freezer to cook for dinner and then went downstairs to get Brandy’s blouse.             “Here,” I said to her when I saw her in the hallway.             She snatched the blouse from me.  “You aren’t trash when it comes to laundry. Maybe you have a future in that,” She cackled and walked away.             ‘That was almost a compliment,’ Kaya finally spoke up for the morning.             ‘Well, good morning to you, too,’ I snarled as I went back to my room to grab my backpack.  I ran out of the house and found Buddy waiting for me down the street.  “Hey Buddy,” I greeted him.             “Hey, Dar,” He said and handed me a plastic container.  “She made banana chocolate chip muffins.”             I sniffed the container, and my mouth watered. I looked around before tearing off the lid and shoving half the muffin into my mouth.  “Holy s**t, I love your mom,” I grumbled through muffin.             Buddy laughed.  “I’ll tell her you liked it,”  He sighed. “I wish those assholes would at least let you eat.”             “One more day, Buddy, one more day,” I said with glee causing him to frown.  I sighed and clasped his hand.  “I’m sorry.”             He wiped a tear from his cheek.  “No, I understand. It just makes me sad.”             Feeling guilty, I handed him the container, and we walked the rest of the way to school in silence.  Once reaching school, we went our separate ways to our classes.  I stopped at my locker, got out what I needed, and was about to close it when a large hand slammed it shut.  I jumped and looked into Felix’s eyes.             He stared deep into my eyes, and I felt something like tingles in my body.  His hot breath fanned my face.  Felix ran his hand down my cheek and inhaled.  “Of all the people, why does it have to be the pack Trash?” He snarled and then walked away, leaving me heaving with confusion and arousal.             “What the f**k is up with him?” I mumbled as I wandered to my next class. I sat in my usual spot and pulled out my homework.  While I was writing, someone sat beside me.  “Go away, Felix,” I said without looking.             “I’m not Felix,” A new male voice said, and I looked up at a handsome nerdy guy sitting at the desk.  He held out his hand to me.  “My name is Niles Olson.  I just moved here. Well, my family moved here.”             I looked at him with confusion.  No one but Buddy and the teachers ever talks to me.  And if they do, it's with cruelty.  I stared at his hand for a moment before hesitantly thrusting mine forward. “I am Darcy,” I mumble quietly.             Niles smiles at me.  “Darcy, I like it.”             “Get out of my seat,” Felix demands, causing Niles to jump.             “I didn't know this was your seat,” Niles stands up.  “I’ll see you around, Darcy.”             I smiled as he walked to another seat.  Sighing, I look down at my papers, ignoring Felix leering at me.  He grabs my chin roughly and glares into my eyes, causing my heart rate to rise while Kaya whimpers in my head.             “I don’t want you talking to any other males in this school.”  He snarls and releases me.             I glare at him for a second until the bell rings.  I shuddered and looked ahead as the teacher began the class.  ‘Why is he acting like that?’ I ask Kaya, and she stays silent.              After class, I go back to my locker, and Niles walks up to me.  “I didn’t know you had a boyfriend,” He said to me.             “I don’t,” I snort as I slam the locker door.              “Then why was that guy acting all possessive of you?”             “That’s something I would like to know,” I chuckle dryly.  “What class do you have next?” I ask Niles liking his presence.  It was too bad that I was leaving tomorrow.  He and I could be friends.  ‘I should introduce him to Buddy.’             Niles pulls out a piece of paper.  “Looks like English with a Miss Beatty.”             “Oh hey, I’m in that class,” I smile at him again and look at his freckled face. He is cute, I think.  He has curly reddish hair and brown eyes hidden behind glasses.  He is tall and thin, and by his scent, he is not a wolf.             “Will the jerk be in that class?” Niles asks.             “Fortunately, no,” I laugh almost too loud.  We pass Felix in the hall.  He is standing with his best friend Darren, the next beta of the pack.  Felix’s eyes look almost black, telling me that his wolf is ready to fight.  I try not to let it affect me.              Niles and I reach the class, and he takes the seat next to me.  “So, what kind of music are you into?” He asks.             I shrug.  “A little bit of everything, I guess,” I reply.  “I have been listening to Muse a lot lately.”             “Cool, I am into harder stuff.” He says.              Darren walks into class and up to us.  “You need to move away from her,” He orders Niles.              “Why?” Niles folds his arms.             “Because I said so,” Darren lets a low growl out, and Niles shudders and gets up.  Darren then sits next to me.             “What is your problem?” I ask him.             “Felix, warned you once, Trash.”             I sigh angrily and look away from Darren.  Kaya makes a strange noise in my head.  ‘What?’             ‘I can’t say what until tomorrow.’ She replies sadly.             Shaking my head, I stare at the front until class starts.  After class, I notice Niles avoids walking with me.  “Great, I guess I am not allowed to have any friends.” As I walk to choir, I am pulled suddenly into a dark room, and a hand clamps over my mouth. I am held tightly to a hard chest.             “I thought I told you not to talk to other guys,” Felix’s voice snarls in my ear.              I struggle to get away from him.  My protests are muffled as he places a kiss on my neck.              “You taste good for trash,” He speaks huskily.  “But you can never be Luna.”             ‘What the f**k is he talking about?’ I scream in my head.  I try getting away from him, but he tightens his hold on me and shoves me into a wall.  Using his larger body, he presses me to the wall.             “But goddess, Viggo wants you so bad.  Maybe I’ll just keep you as my mistress,” He whispers in my ear.             I felt my body betraying me by getting turned on.  Felix was making me think I wanted him.  I tried to scream, but his hand was tight over my mouth.  I felt bile in my stomach, threatening to escape as he kissed my neck and used a hand to fondle my breasts.  His teeth grazed my cheek, and he turned me around to face him. I used my eyes to plead with him to let me go.             “You are prettier than Brandy.  Like real pretty not made up all fake like her,” He said and removed his hand from my mouth.  Before I could scream, he placed his lips against mine.             I screamed into his mouth and managed to kick his leg, causing him to release me.  I ran out of the closet and down the empty hall of the school.  I ran outside and into the woods.  Leaning against a tree to catch my breath, I felt my panic rising.  “What is going on?” I breathed out. Once I got myself calmed, I went back into the school.  I didn’t feel like getting beaten today for cutting classes.             At lunch, I sat in my usual spot in the corner of the cafeteria, waiting for Buddy.  He usually shared his lunch with me.  I saw Niles and tried waving him down, but he ignored me and sat with other students.  Sighing sadly, I looked at the ground.  Soon I was joined by Buddy.  He handed me an apple and half of his turkey sandwich.             “What’s up?” He asked me.             I shrugged as I ate my food.  “Just another day in hell,” I replied with anger.  I saw Felix sitting across the room with Brandy and their friends.  He stared straight at me with mixed emotions on his face.  My appetite was suddenly lost at the thought of what he would do to me in the closet.  “I don’t feel good, Buddy,” I said and handed him the apple.  “I am going to the library.”             I spent the rest of lunch in the library, and luckily the rest of the school day was without drama.  As I was leaving with Buddy, I spotted Niles once more.  “Hey, Niles,” I called to him, and he turned.             “Hi, Darcy.  Sorry about talking to you earlier,” I saw he had a bruise on his cheek.              “Who did that to you?” I asked.             He shook his head. “Don’t worry about it.  Just some first-day new guy hazing,” He touched the bruise and winced.  “I wish we could be friends, but I don’t think it will be a good idea.”  He said and walked away.             “What the hell was that about?” Buddy asked.             I started towards our spot.  I needed the run more than anything. Kaya was itching to get out, and I needed the release.  “Stupid Felix is acting weird,” I refrained from mentioning the incident in the closet.  “Niles is new, and I tried being friends with him.”             “Oh, that sucks,” Buddy sighed.  “Why is Felix acting weird?”             I shook my head. “I don’t know.”  We stopped, and Buddy turned away from me so I could get undressed.  I shifted into my white fox and circled my friend before disappearing into the woods.  The wind felt good on my fur.  I ran over and under logs and chased a few bunnies.  The snap of a twig alerted me that something large was close by.  The scent of a wolf caused me to run into a bush, hoping it was enough to conceal me.              Felix’s black wolf walked slowly by sniffing the ground.  He paused near the bush, and I froze when he looked straight at me. On instinct, I darted as fast as I could out of the bush.  I sensed Felix behind me as I ran as fast as I could.  I ran up a tree, hoping I could avoid Felix.              The black wolf looked around and sniffed the air as I sat on a branch watching him.  He howled with frustration and ran off.  I ran down the tree and rushed back to where I had left Buddy.  I shifted back into human form and threw my clothes back on.  “Damn, I think he saw me this time,” I said to Buddy.             “Why do you say that?”             “Because he chased me,” I replied and picked up my backpack.             Buddy handed me a bag.  “Here, this is just some jerky and granola bars from my Mom.  I’ll see you tomorrow, right?”             I nodded. I was supposed to help clean the packhouse and help set up for Felix’s birthday party. “Of course. I’m not leaving until everyone goes on their run with Felix.”             “Good,” Buddy hugged me, and then we walked out of the woods.              I heard a wolf howling in the woods and shuddered.  Kaya stirred in my head but said nothing.  I got home and was suspicious when I saw Uncle Dieter’s truck in the drive.  Usually, he was out on patrols at this time.  I walked in to see him sitting in the living room with Aunt Jean and Alpha Dean.             “Sit down, Darcy,” Aunt Jean indicated a wooden chair between the couches.              I stepped slowly towards the chair and felt panic again.  I then saw my money pouch sitting on the coffee table, and my heart sank.              “We have some important things to talk about,” My aunt said. She picked up my money and opened it.  She pulled out my cash.  “Care to explain where you stole all of this cash from?”             I looked at the Alpha and Uncle Dieter and then at my aunt.  “I didn’t steal it,” I told her.             “Liar!” My aunt screeched and went to slap me.  Uncle Dieter grabbed her wrist.             “Now, now, Jeanie.  Let the trash tell us her lies.  It will only make her punishment even more severe.” He smirked at me.             I shuddered.  “I am not lying.  I earned money from doing everyone else’s homework.” I told them.  “I also did a few odd jobs here and there.”             “What are you saving the money for?” Aunt Jean folded her arms.             I sighed.  “It for when I leave.”             They all started laughing.  “Leave? You can’t leave! You owe Dieter and me for all of the years we were forced to take care of you,” Aunt Jean finally was able to slap me across the face.  She grabbed my chin.  “No, Trash.  You are stuck here until I feel your debt to me is repaid.” She released me.             Alpha Dean stood up and stepped towards me.  “And you can only leave if I give you permission to leave.”             “But I’ll be eighteen tomorrow,” I protested. “             The Alpha laughed. “No, as of tomorrow, you will be moving to the packhouse and working for me.  All of the money you earn will be given to Jean and Dieter.  You are here forever, Darcy,” He cackled.             Aunt Jean grabbed my money and stuffed it into her shirt. “Thank you for the new shoes, pet.”             Tears welled up in my eyes as I ran out of the room and down to my room. I threw myself onto the bed and sobbed into my pillow.  ‘I hate them, Kaya.  I f*****g hate them.  What did I do wrong to deserve them?’             ‘You are going to show them, Darcy.  They will regret what they have done to you,’ Kaya tried reassuring me.             The basement door swung open, and I gulped when I heard Uncle Dieter’s clunking down the stairs.  I heard him removing his belt from the straps, and I rolled onto my back.  “I didn’t do anything.”             He cackled. “Doing other students homework is unethical,” He snarked.  “And you hid money from us.  That should be our money, you ungrateful pig.”  He whipped the belt in the air. “Now, take off your shirt and pull down your pants.”             I did as he said and laid on my bed as he beat me until I passed out.  I woke up hours later, barely able to move.  I could still feel the sting of the belt and the sound of Uncle Dieter’s cold laughter.  I wanted to leave now, but I didn’t have the strength.  I could only hope that Kaya could help me and do what she said she would do.  I cried into my pillow until I fell asleep again.
