Chapter 5 Josh woke at his usual five a.m. Apparently being on the West Coast simply wasn’t working its way into his biorhythms. He showered, and slipped out of the condo. He exchanged a wave with the now-familiar shelter cook going in the back door just as Josh passed. The bit of routine helped ground him in the quiet city, it made him feel a little more as if he belonged.
