Disney heard the gunshot sounds getting closer and pushed open the door of her car by her left side. There were no shooters at her left, so it was safer for her to get out through that side.
The men who were shooting at her moved closer but maintained a considerable distance from her. They unsuccessfully tried to break down the glass of her car but couldn't because it was bulletproof.
Nevertheless, Disney knew that she could not remain in her car as the men were bound to surround her in no time and could tow the car away if she was stuck inside.
Looking at her map, she realized the area was a blind spot and only a few cars passed there since it wasn't very safe at night.
There were always police vehicles with officers in them but at this time, none were available.
