Chapter 8 Give me an Explaination!

824 Words
Emily's face paled. "Mom, why didn't you stop him?" she asked frantically. While she spoke, she flung away the covers and hopped out of bed. After hastily changing out of her hospital gown, she grabbed her phone and dashed towards the door. Mrs. Wilson was bewildered when she looked up and saw that her daughter was already at the door. "Emily dear, what on earth are you doing? Come back here this instant!" she hollered across the room. "I'll be back in a bit, mom!" she shouted. With that, Emily was gone. Emily managed to hail a cab at the front entrance of the hospital. "Mister, please drive me to New Bamboo Garden as fast as you can," she directed the cab driver. "Alrighty missy, better sit tight." he said. She broke out in a cold sweat in the backseat of the cab. Only one thought floated in her mind at the moment, and it was that she had to get to the Bell residence before her father did! She must! The Bell's ancestral mansion was located in New Bamboo Garden. Most of the Bells lived there, with the exception of Grandpa Bell. Emily and Ronald had moved out after getting married. She knew that since her father wanted to rip an explanation out of them, he wouldn't be on his way to their new house. After who knows how long, she saw that she was finally approaching the grand mansion. The sense of dread she felt intensified. After scanning her surroundings, her eyes landed on a familiar figure. She banged on the cab door and exclaimed, "Mister, please stop the car!" She paid the driver and got out of the car. Despite the throbbing pain in her tummy, she pressed on and ran after her father. "Dad!" she screamed. Before he had a chance to step foot into the Bell residence, he heard a voice calling him from behind. He was shocked to see his daughter's ghost-like complexion upon turning around. "Emily dear, why are you here? Shouldn't you be resting in bed?" he asked with concern. "No time for questions now, dad. Let's head back right now!" Emily commanded. She tried dragging him by the wrist back to where they came from. Her father was dumbfounded. "No, I refuse to leave until one of them explains why they're treating my daughter so poorly," he said with a serious expression on his face. She anxiously pleaded with her tear-filled eyes, "Dad, what do you plan to accomplish? I already told you that none of the Bells know about my pregnancy. I caused my own miscarriage due to my carelessness so this matter doesn't concern them in the slightest. So can you please drop it already?!" "Absolutely not! I have to meet with at least one of them today. How can I just sit and watch as my precious daughter continues to suffer like this?" he snapped. It was apparent that her father's rage hadn't subsided yet. He pushed her away and stormed toward the front gates. "I'm begging you, dad. Please come home with me," she wailed. The two of them were so busy arguing that they didn't notice two cars that just turned the corner and were headed in their direction. A jet black Rolls-Royce limo lead the way. "Sir, it appears that... the Young Miss is here," the chauffer announced, befuddled. This instantly piqued the interest of all the passengers onboard. A man sitting at the very back slowly opened his eyes and looked outside. He couldn't help but raise an eyebrow at what he saw but his expression remain unchanged. "Emily?" An old man sitting in the back chimed in with furrowed brows. He requested the chauffer to stop the car. The sound of a car horn instantly interrupted the dispute between Emily and her father. Emily turned around and saw a car parked near them. She balled up her fists and tugged at her father's shirtsleeve. "Dad, promise me you won't say anything." she said in a low whisper. The bodyguards stepped out of the back of the limo first and opened the doors in an orderly fashion. Grandpa Bell was the first to step out of the vehicle. Emily yelped when she saw who got off next. Why was Ronald here? Shouldn't he be at work at this hour? Emily really didn't want to start anything. She looked at what seemed like the whole Bell family standing before her. She was so nervous she dug her nails into her palms, and daren't so much as look at Ronald. "So it was Mr. Wilson I saw just now. I was curious as to who was standing beside Emily," a white-haired Grandpa Bell said while strolling towards them in high spirits. "So, what brings you two here? Is there something the matter?" he asked. Emily tugged at her father's shirtsleeves again and pleaded once more with desperation in her eyes.
