"Emily, are you alright?!" Abby asked anxiously. She pulled Emily behind her and screamed, "Chloe! What's the meaning of this?"
"What's the meaning? I just feel that it doesn't make sense to just pretend to act... Real acting is all about making it believable, right? What I did was just teaching the newbie how... to act the part!" A scoff emanated from Chloe's red lips.
"You, you're too much!" Abby wanted to give Chloe a piece of her mind, but Emily tugged at her shirtsleeve and motioned her not to exacerbate the situation even further.
Abby bit her lip and her face darkened. She suddenly lifted her gaze to Chloe and pretended to smile. "Miss Walker, since you're so 'good' at 'acting', mind being interviewed by some of the paparazzi lurking outside?" she taunted.
Chloe totally ignored her remark and gave her a smile that was as pretty as a flower. She reverted back to her elegant self. She rubbed her hands together and chuckled.
"I don't mind, but acting is all about convincing people to believe in your performance, isn't it? Who are you to talk about acting with me when you're with a woman who's just standing there, as stiff as a plank of wood?"
Emily furrowed her brows. She was so pale, and it was as if all blood had been drained from her face. She reckoned all of it had gone to her baby...
Abby thought Emily was scared witless and wanted to hurl another retort, but then she saw Chloe readying her wrist for another slap. "If you think my demonstration just now wasn't good enough, I don't mind giving you another..."
As soon as she finished speaking, the woman already had her hand raised.
Abby's eyes widened. "You..."
She really couldn't believe that Chloe was this insane.
Emily was prepared for a second blow and subconsciously moved her face to one side to try to avoid it. There was nowhere for her to hide.
But this time, before Chloe's arm could land on her face, it was stopped by a large hand in mid-air. A cold and gruff voice could be heard behind her. "An impromptu lesson? Seems like Miss Walker is a bit too confident in her acting skills."
Emily started to tremble at the very moment she heard that voice.
She'd heard this low, mellow voice a million times before.
Ronald!
It was Ronald!
Why was he... Why was he here?
Emily's eyes widened as she looked up at the man in front of her who was wearing a tailored dark-coloured suit on his sturdy frame. He donned his signature indifferent expression under his short, wispy hair. His sharp jaw added to his icy tone.
The director suddenly came to his senses. He hurried forward with the producer and started singing praises to Ronald. "What a surprise to see you here, Mr. Bell! Why didn't you send someone to inform us of your arrival? As you can see, we're still busy filming."
The producer also chimed in enthusiastically, "Mr. Bell! There's too much going on in here, so why don't we move this discussion to the back?"
Accompanying Ronald were several middle-aged men clad in suits and leather shoes. They were obviously a part of the top management.
There also appeared to be two women secretaries who were taking note of everything in their record books. They were probably sent by the top management to inspect the film set.
Both of them were confused as to why Ronald suddenly held up his hands as if to say 'stop'. He then walked over to the middle of the set.
His personal assistant Kian Saunders quickly exchanged an apologetic smile with them. He smoothened the creases on his suit, coughed drily, and hastened his pace to catch up to Ronald.
"Mr... Mr. Bell... Everyone is waiting for you!" Kian said.
"Hmm." Ronald frowned and grunted. He looked over at Chloe and let go of her hand.
"I don't want to see what happened today a second time. I hope that all of you will focus on producing the film instead of engaging in petty squabbles between actors. Otherwise... J & F Group reserves the right to withdraw the investment at any time."
Ronald's voice was ice-cold and direct. Everyone heard him loud and clear.
The producer's face turned pale as a sheet in an instant. "Mr. Bell, you can't..."
"Mr. Bell... We were really talking about acting! I was teaching the newbie how to make her acting more believable! Although I might've hit her a little hard just now, I can assure you that I'm not lying!"
Chloe blurted nervously.
She only knew that Ronald had invested in this film, but she didn't expect him to be the CEO of the J & F Group. It didn't cross her mind that such an influential figure in the business world turned out to be so young. His appearance and character surpassed all the men she'd met before by leaps and bounds.
She couldn't deny the fact that her heart thumped for this man.
So this was the golden boy of the upper echelon!
