Asher did a perfect job. Scarlett accepted the contract and now everything seemed to be back on track. Phoenix’s story would soon be history.
I walked down to Asher’s room to get the contract for myself. Ever since he mentioned that he was done with the task, I couldn’t take the thoughts out of my head.
The guards at Asher’s door bowed at my presence. I nodded, acknowledging them. But as I pulled the door opened and one of them stepped out of line.
“King Asher just stepped out of his room. He is not in there,” he said.
My legs stopped moving but I remembered the conversation we had before that, it must have been in his room.
“Not a problem. I will just grab what I came for then.” Before I could even finish speaking, the guard got away from me instantly, leaving the door open.
