“So annoying,” everybody flinched when Nate dropped his books on top of the table. We were currently having our breakfast in the cafeteria when Nate arrived with a bad morning. He slumped down on his seat and put his chin on the top of his hand. Everybody was confused why he was acting like this, though it’s not typical for Nate for having a bad day.
“I fell asleep last night and I didn’t finish the book that I was reading. Damn it,” he added as he opened the book that he was talking about.
Hiro and Finn continue their breakfast when suddenly someone caught our attention. As usual. You already know who it is. They both look up to Spencer, who’s looking for a vacant seat. Hiro, being the bubbly nice guy, waved his right hand for Spencer to see him. He pointed out that there was still another vacant seat beside me but Spencer’s smile faded away when he sees that he would be sitting next to the person he most hated.
The feeling is mutual, bro.
I also don’t want to be seated next to him.
Shifting my attention to my breakfast, I kept an eye on Spencer's movements outside of the corner of my eye. I know I shouldn't, but I can't stop myself from watching his reaction.
Spencer is still standing there, hoping that everybody will realize that he's not sitting beside me. This kid.
I was about to say something of the kind that if he doesn't want to sit here, he can go find another, but Finn interrupted me. Everyone was stunned into silence and stared at him. He got out of his seat and turned to Spencer.
“You can sit here. I will go and it next to Kieran,” he said as he picked up his food and walk beside me.
Hold up. What kind of romantic drama is this?
Spencer merely smiled at him and thanked him. He then sat down and continued to converse with Nate and Hiro as if nothing had happened. Finn seemed to be sitting next to me while he began eating his breakfast. We never speak or look at one another. Since then, I haven't spoken a thing. I'm only paying attention to what they're saying.
The three were having a normal conversation when Nate notices something about Spencer. I immediately averted my gaze at him from his eyes down to his wrist.
Shit. I f****d it up.
I remember what happened to us last night. We got into an argument, and I can't believe I hurt him. I feel guilty, and I haven't even apologized. If Spencer told them what happened to his wrist, I would apologize right away, but Nate, as the group's mom and dad, would lecture me nonstop about why I did that to him.
Spencer may be a petite small guy, but his mouth’s really sharp.
“What happened to your wrist?” Nate asks. Hiro stops his doing and he looked at Spencer in confusion. I noticed that Finn looked in his way too.
I felt that Spencer got a little awkward as he pulled his sweater to cover his whole hand.
“It’s nothing. I tried my mom’s bangle bracelet when I was in London and I tried to get it off but it didn’t, so I hurt myself a little.” He explained with a smile.
Liar.
Why would he lie?
Nate slowly nods his head like he literally bought it, “Okay. Just don’t be harsh to yourself.”
“Of course,” Spencer commented. It was silent again and we continued our breakfast.
We don't have anything planned for today because school starts next week. Basically, we've come to familiarize ourselves with the area and meet other students from various departments, as well as students who previously resided in the dorm. However, the dorm still has its own curfew. If you're late returning home, you won't be able to enter the building.
This week will be long since I don’t have many things to do but to spend my time with my friends… and Spencer.
I can't believe Spencer and I used to hang around with the same people. How is that even possible? We belong to the same social circle, but we are not friends, and even if I had the opportunity to be friends with him, I would drop out.
As the day ended, I rushed up to my dorm to have a quick shower before I got into my bed. We already had dinner outside. It was chilling just like when we were in high school. As I slumped down on my bed, I heard the door open and I knew it was my lovely roommate.
After dinner, Spencer excused himself because he was going to run some errand, so we didn’t walk together into our room. As if he and I did that.
When Spencer entered the room, he didn’t take a glance at me, and why would he? Instead, he walked straight to the bathroom and run the water. Once he finished, he walked to his bed and slumped down. I know that he’s still mad at me.
I called his name in a whispered tone but it was stupid because he wouldn’t hear it.
“Spencer. I know that you’re still awake.” I sternly called him once again, hoping he would hear it, but he didn’t even budge. I don’t know if he’s playing or he’s just plain mad.
I assume both.
The morning came, I woke up first. I looked at the time and it was only 5 in the morning, yet I couldn’t go back to sleep anymore. I tried a different position but it’s not working. I tried playing with my phone to make me feel sleepy, but it was not so. When I looked at the time once again, it was about 6 in the morning. The sun will shine soon.
I gave up going back to sleep and decided that maybe I should start my morning now. I don’t have a class, but I can spend my time by myself or with my friends. I glanced up to the side where Spencer was and he was still in his deep sleep.
Once I washed my face and brushed my teeth, I went to the kitchen to make my favorite brewed coffee. It was the best thing ever. Like, who doesn’t like coffee? Everybody does.
I sat on the kitchen counter for a long time, thinking how I would spend my day since I was not doing anything when I heard the bathroom door open. Spencer is awake and fully dressed up—where is he going this early in the morning? I glanced at him and he was walking straight to the pantry and grabbing his granola bar.
This is my time to apologize to him.
Before he could pass me, I stopped him. I’m glad that he listens to me.
He looked at me and I couldn’t even look straight at him.
“Uhm, I’m sorry… about last night,” I said.
Spencer gave me no emotion and I felt stupid. I know that apologizing to him would make me feel stupid. Plus, he would think that he won again. Me apologizing to him?
That’s no—
“It’s okay.” He smiled, “Anyway, can I ask you a favor?”
Wait for what? That’s it?
“What?”
“Can you open my luggage for me? I think the zipper got stuck, I can’t open it.” He sadly said, “My things are still inside and I can’t get them.”
Seriously? Zipper? Now he wants my help? My worst enemy is asking me to help him with his zipper luggage? Wow, this is so cool.
I can’t believe that he is actually asking me for help. Omg, this guy right here can’t open his luggage.
I followed him to where his luggage was and tried to help him. Again, tried. Besides, it is the best thing to do since I hurt him last night.
From the looks of his luggage, it’s quite expensive, but I think I can manage.
I bent down to lift up his luggage and put it on top of his bed. I zipped it open and it was perfectly fine. There’s nothing wrong with it. It’s not even broken. I looked at him and he gave me a fake shock look.
Wait a minute, is this a trap or something?
I need to relax my chill if that’s the case. I can't let him win this time.
Or maybe this is his revenge from last night?
What the hell, why did I even fall for that? I swear if this is one of his tricks, I will break every single one of his bones!
“It’s not broken,” I said.
“Really? Wow, thanks.” He said as he walked into the front door.
Well, there’s nothing suspecting anyways.
I went back to the kitchen counter and continued to drink my coffee when suddenly I felt a little tingly feeling. I know it is still hot but… what the f**k, I didn’t expect this to be THAT spicy!!
I spit my coffee on the sink and I heard the devil’s laugh. I turned around to face him and, perfect timing, he kissed the bottle of sriracha hot sauce. What the hell!
“Bye,” he laughed again as he busts the door open and ran away.
That’s it!
I am so done!
