Where is she?

Blair

I left Em in her room, she was angry and just wanted to be left alone. I didn't know whether it was the best thing to do or not but considering she was still trying to keep her wolf from ripping Lydia's throat out, maybe I was doing the right thing.

I walked into my own room and sat on the edge of the bed, pulling my phone out I dialled Kala's number in the hope she had some answers. I was thankful Rose had moved back to this realm, she was still deep into the forest and secluded from the rest of the pack but it is what she felt most comfortable with.

“Hi, Blair” Kala answered.

“Hi” I sighed, as I rubbed my temple.

“That doesn't sound good, what's happened?” Kala asked in a panicked tone.

“Well, Me and Em just walked into the gym and pretty much found Kane and Barbie making out on the floor, If it wasn't for Ryder, Barbie would be nothing but bloodstains on the wall right now”

“Oh, no! How is Em?”

“Not great, Seriously I've never seen her look the way she did, I actually thought she was going to kill them both. Her eyes went dark red and her wolf just began to take over, it was like she just disappeared. Please say you have some better news for me?”

“Not really, Rose has been doing some research this past year in case we think the curse could have triggered, however, there is no solid evidence of a curse. We know our father and grandfather were both affected but that was because they took chosen mates, I don't know here is Rose she can explain better!” She sighed as I heard her pass the phone over.

“Hi Blair, how are you my darling?” Rose asked as she came onto the phone.

“Not great Aunt Rose, so what have you found out?”

“Well, I'm not really sure, I have been going through some of the old journals, some from your father others from your grandfather and there is nothing to suggest there was a build-up to the curse triggering. All of the journals were just left when the curse had taken over them completely. But everything before was absolutely normal.”

“Do you think it is the curse that's affecting Kane now?” I asked hesitantly, I knew it had to be, what else was it?

“I couldn't tell you for sure, it doesn't look good! But from everything I know and the research that Kala conducted years ago, it shouldn't be happening. The curse shouldn't be triggered if you mate with your true mate”

“So that must be wrong, Em is his true mate, Isn't she?”

“Yes of course, which is why I'm very much shocked this has happened”

“Can't you do a spell or something to make the curse stop?” I asked hopefully.

“If only it was that easy, A spell is completely different from a curse, you have to go into Black magic for something like that. I do have a friend I could speak with, he knows a lot about the black arts maybe he could help us. I'll go see him this afternoon see what he thinks!”

“Great thankyou Rose, I'm pleased your here to help us in this”

“You welcome sweetheart, leave it with me I'll see what I can find out and I will come to the house”

“Thanks, Rose, I'll see you when you get here,” I said as I hung up, exhaling I fell back on my bed,

Embry

I was only just managing to calm myself, Taking a deep breath I smiled looking at the mess in front of me, throwing the scissors down onto the floor next to me I picked up my bag that I had packed some clothes in. I was going to visit my parents and stay with them for the night.

Standing I let all the loose pieces of Kane's clothing drop to the ground, I was pleased I had cut my way through the majority of his clothes, I could now see how people loved doing this in the movies.

I walked out of the room and made my way out of the house.

Walking into the forest I decided to text Blair, explaining I was going to my parents for a few days. I needed to think of what I was going to do, right now, I couldn't help but feel alone, I knew it was always a risk, the curse. But I never believed it would happen, everyone always told me we were safe, it wouldn't trigger, we were happy! We were even trying for a baby. We hadn't told anyone because Doc said it may take me a while to conceive because of my past my body might reject it at first, I didn't want to add the pressure of everyone asking whether I was pregnant every day.

I walked for what seemed like all day before I saw my parents cabin, Mason saw me first and came running out to me. Giving me a hug he didn't say anything, he just looked at the bag and back at me. For a young boy he was very clever he knew when something wasn't right.

I walked inside to see my mum sitting in her chair doing some sewing, the moment I saw her the tears began streaming down my cheeks. Mason let go of me as my mum got up from her seat and ran to me throwing her arms around me.

“Oh gosh, Embry, What's happened,” She asked as she hugged me tightly”

I couldn't speak, I just quietly held onto her and sobbed, A few moments passed and I began to calm down, she walked me to the kitchen and sat me at the table.

“I'll make you a hot drink, your as cold as stone Embry” She disappeared out the door and came back in with a blanket and wrapped it around my shoulders.

“Is she ok?” Mason's voice whispered from behind me.

“Yes she will be just fine, you go play while I speak with your sister,” My mum said as she pulled two mugs from the cupboard.

“Where's dad?” I croaked.

“He should be on his way home, now you want to explain what's happened?”

I took a deep breath and cleared my throat, I spent the rest of the day explaining everything to my mum, she sat and listened intently then again when my father came home. They offered me what support they could but I knew as well as they did, there wasn't much they could do to an Alpha like Kane. So I decided to spend the rest of the night snuggled on the sofa with Mason watching films and eating loads of junk food.

Kane

It was getting late, I had been all the way over to Rose's place but she wasn't there which was very unusual, It would be so much easier if she just had a phone I could reach her on but she was adamant she would never have one.

I reached home and walked back through the doors, I just wanted to go upstairs and see Em. I hated not seeing her all day, As I walked inside and closed the door behind me I knew something was off, sniffing the air I couldn't pick up her scent. I ran up the stairs and to our room, opening the door I saw all my clothes all over the floor cut to pieces. “I suppose I deserve that!” I sighed to myself.

“Hmmm! I agree!” Ryder appeared behind me, standing with his arms folded looking at the mess on the floor.

“Where is she?” I asked him sternly.

Ryder began nodding his head “No idea! It's been quiet around here for a while now, I thought maybe when she left she went to find you”

“I've not been here, I thought she was still up here” I turned around to look at the room once more, walking into the closet I immediately notice the large holdall missing and quite a few of her clothes.

“She must have gone to her parents, some of her things are missing”

“Well I don't blame her, I wouldn't want to stick around and watch my mate with someone else!” Ryder said as he began to walk out of the room.

“Thanks for the support!” I mumbled to myself.

He stopped and turned back to me “When you deserve support, you will get it! What you're doing to Em right now, it's not surprising she left, Best for her to go now before she ends up like your mother!”

I shook my head as I laughed “Wow! Low blow Ryder!” I moved around the room kicking the clothes out my way.

“Give us a moment please Ryder” Blair was now in the doorway, I rolled my eyes knowing she was the next to have a go at me.

“Come on, let's hear it!” I threw my arms up at her as she closed the door behind Ryder as he left, I expected shouting, screaming maybe a couple of slaps, but what I didn't expect was her to come up to me and wrap her arms around my torso and hug me tightly.

I hugged her back and just embraced her warmth for a few seconds, She pulled away after a few moments and pulled me over to sit on the edge of the bed.

“Kane, I know something more is going on, please, if it is the curse. I think it's best Embry does stay away for a while, she doesn't deserve the pain”

I sighed as I looked into her eyes “Blair, you know me better than anyone, I would never do anything to hurt Em, ever! She means the world to me” I explained,

“Well, what went on with Lydia? That wasn't you!”

“I know! And if I'm being completely honest I don't even know why it happened, I really don't think It's the curse, I love Em, I'm not starting to hate her, I've been trying all afternoon to get Lydia sent to her uncle's pack but I can't reach Victor”

“You've messed up Kane, big time!” She told me sternly, for such a small woman she was feisty and a complete scary badass when she wants to be.

“I know I have, but I want to make it up to her! I take it she is at her parent's house” I raised my brows at her, of course, she knows! Her Em and Kala are as thick as thieves.

“She needs time Kane, leave her if only just for tonight, leave her be!” she ordered.

“Ok, fine!” I agreed, but I think we both knew I was lying!
