“He's lost his god damn mind!” I shouted as I paced the length of my bedroom, Ryder and Kala sat on the end of my bed and watched as I slowly began my meltdown.

“He's gone to get her. Surely that has to count for something” Kala spoke up.

I turned to Kala and raised my eyebrows at her, “How do we know he's gone to bring her back? For all we know he's gone to chase her off so he can live here with the blonde bimbo across the hall” I seethed as I pointed behind me to the door.

“She's going to hear you,” Ryder said as if I didn't already know.

“Good! Let her know how she is not wanted here!” I shouted extra loud to make sure she heard exactly what I was saying.

Kala held her phone up “Ansel just got back with Em's car, I've told him to come straight up here” she explained.

Ryder stood and came over to me, taking hold of my arm he pulled me in closer to him, wrapping his arms around me he kissed the top of my head, “Just calm down babe, we will sort this, ok!” he whispered calmly as he caressed my back.

Seconds later the bedroom door opened and Ansel walked in, “how was she? He is bringing her back isn't he?” Kala asked as she got to her feet and ran into his arms.

“Yes, he's bringing her back, don't worry, but, I doubt she will be too happy to see him so I don't think they will be back too soon. If the right hook she landed on Lydia is anything to go by it wouldn't surprise me if Kane comes back with some bruises” Ansel joked.

“So what do you think we should do? I know it's the curse!” I choked as I tried to hold back the tears that were threatening to release.

Ansel shrugged his shoulders, “I don't know! There is something going on don't get me wrong but he is nothing like how his father was”

“Did he say anything in the car?” Ryder asked.

Ansel shook his head “No nothing, but I could tell by his face there was something, he looked worried”

“I say we still go to see Rose, she knows more about the curse than we do, even if it is just to rule out the possibility,” Ryder said, he had been quiet these past few days, I knew Kane's behaviour was worrying him. They had always been close, he was with him as a young child as the curse took hold of our father, he saw how much it affected Kane as a child, He wasn't prepared to lose his best friend.

We all nodded in agreement, it was the best thing we could do, I knew Rose was still looking into the curse, it was hard to pinpoint where exactly it originated from. “Ok, tomorrow we go and see her, But for now I think we should all go down, I'll make us all a drink and wait for them to get back, I won't sleep if I don't know whether he has brought her back here or not,” Kala said as she took Ansel's hand pulling him along behind her out the door.

Embry

We pulled up back at home, looking up at the tall building in front of me the majority of the house was in darkness, with any luck The b***h was asleep and will stay out of my way. “You ready?” Kane asked looking at me.

“She better stay out of my way, and if she thinks I'm going to stand by and watch her throw herself at you at every opportunity she gets then, she is sadly mistaken” Kane took hold of my hand and lifted it to his lips, kissing the back of my hand.

”I won't let her do anything to upset you, ok, but I'm afraid I already agreed to let her stay here just for a few days until she can go to her uncle's pack” I rolled my eyes looking up at the house once more.

“Just keep her the hell away from me!” I ordered as I took my hand from his and got out of the car, Kane followed closely behind as we made our way into the house.

I heard voices coming from the kitchen so I headed straight in there to see who was still up, I was kind of glad everyone was here apart from her. Blair and Kala came straight over to me and hugged me asking if I was ok.

“I'm fine guys, honestly I just needed a few hours to myself that's all,” I said as I hugged them back, I walked to the kitchen Island taking a seat on one of the stools.

Kane made me a coffee and came and sat by my side, we all sat and listened to Kane and Ryder speak about the pack and what had been going on while Kane was away. Kala and Blair kept giving me strange looks I knew they were dying to speak to me to find out what Kane had said.

We were distracted by the sound of footsteps running down the stairs, I sighed loudly as I looked at Kane unimpressed knowing who was about to enter the kitchen, He looked at me apologetically “I'll get rid of her” He whispered as he stood, kissing my forehead as he did so.

The unwanted blonde ran into the kitchen, I watched as she ran up to Kane and jumped up wrapping her arms around his neck “Kane, I was so scared, I had the most horrendous nightmare, It felt so real. I thought they were here coming to kill me” She sobbed holding onto him tighter but Kane had his arms outstretched by his side not wanting to touch her.

I turned my body so I was facing the pair and folded my arms, Kane arched his neck back so he could look my way, Seeing I was less than impressed I raised my eyebrows at him. He placed his hands on her shoulders pushing her away “Nobody knows your here Lydia, your safe” She released her arms from his neck, I could tell she didn't want to but Kane was quite forceful with his push.

“I don't like being up there on my own,” She said in a child-like voice.

“Please!” I scoffed as I made my amusement known to her.

She looked at me out the corner of her eye, the marks from my introduction earlier still visible on her eye socket, I couldn't help but smile at her.

“Will you take me back upstairs Kane” She looked up at him through the eyelashes.

Kane didn't look my way knowing this was going to piss me right off, “Ok, but then I need to spend time with Embry”

She looked back at me as she took hold of his arm, “She won't mind you tending to your guests, would you Em!” She smiled back at me.

“Actually, I would mind Lyd!” I smiled sarcastically.

“Two minutes!” Kane said holding up two fingers, as he removed Lydia's arm and extended his motioning for her to walk ahead of him out the door.

I heard a slight huff come from her as she stomped out and towards the stairs, I couldn't help but laugh to myself, “Talk about being desperate!” I mumbled as I swung back around in my seat. Facing everybody once more I paused when I saw them all staring at me.

“What?” I asked.

“What was that, and why didn't you smash her face in!” Blair whispered harshly.

I laughed, “It probably has something to do with the amount of Vodka I have consumed tonight, I just think it's funny how desperate she is making herself look!”

“Who is she? What did Kane say?” Ryder said lowly leaning forward to me.

“I need to talk to you all tomorrow about it, away from here though, can we all meet in the morning 9am, here, then we can decide where to go” everyone nodded.

I looked up at the ceiling knowing they were both up there, I listened carefully to see if I could hear them “Are you worried about them?” Kala asked.

I shook my head “No, I trust Kane” I smiled to hide my true emotions, the truth was I hated him being up there with her. I trusted him but I don't her, she is playing a game I know it! It had been a few minutes and I still couldn't hear Kane coming back down. “I think I'm going to head to bed, It's been a long day.” I smiled as I got up from my seat, the girls hugged me before I left and began to head upstairs.

Kane

I was irritated by the little display Lydia put on in the kitchen, My wolf hated her, heck, he hated me each time I was near her. As much as I didn't want her here I had to try and keep her close by, she was the only way I was getting closer to her father. Something was going on and I needed to know what it was.

We made it to her bedroom door and I extended my arm motioning her to go in, “While you're here could you show me how the shower works, please. I just feel like a shower would help me sleep” she smiled.

I nodded my head and walked past her to her bathroom, I showed her the various settings and turned it on for her setting it just right so she didn't have to do anymore apart from press the off button. “I'll leave you to it, see you in the morning Lydia” I smiled at her politely and walked out of the bathroom.

“Kane!” she called, I closed my eyes and sighed as I stopped to turn to her, I was beginning to see what Em meant about her. “Do you ever wonder what our lives would be like if we did marry?” she asked as she walked to my front looking up at me through her long lashes.

I shook my head at her “No, I'm happy with Em, there is no Love like a love between true mates” I went to turn to leave but she took hold of my shirt, looking down at her hand she retracted it immediately sensing my hostility at her action.

“Sorry, I know you are, I didn't mean to offend you, but you could be happy with someone else too, someone who respects you more, is by your side like a Luna should be”

“Lydia, I have been through hell and back to have Em here with me, she is by my side always, the pack love her, they wouldn't accept anyone else other than her as their Luna, I love her, and only her. If anyone ever tries to come between us I would kill them in a heartbeat”

She placed her finger on my chest looking up licking her lips seductively “Maybe you just haven't given the right person a chance, you would feel just the same for a chosen mate, I would make sure you were taken care of, I would make you feel like a real man in every way possible!” her voice was becoming huskier as she trailed her finger down to the waistband of my trousers.

I grabbed her hand to stop her, pushing it away knocking her balance slightly. she took a quick step back shocked by my reaction. I could tell she wasn't used to being told, no! ” As I said, Embry is the only one I am interested in, I hope one day you find your true mate and feel the happiness and love it brings,” I told her coldly, showing her she wasn't going to get anywhere with me.

“But what if I don't want a true mate? What if I want what was promised to me!” she said more sternly

“Well, I would say that's a great shame!” I turned to see a pissed off Embry walking through the doorway, glaring at Lydia. “But like he said, if anyone tries to come between us they will regret it” She walked to my front standing between Lydia and me.

Lydia rolled her eyes “You know being a possessive mate is not attractive” she smirked, folding her arms.

“And neither is being a desperate w***e but here we are!” I saw Em taking a threatening step towards her, I knew this wasn't going to end well, but I still couldn't help the sense of pride that filled my body. She was strong despite her past she stood up for her loved ones, she was never afraid of facing anyone.

“I think we should all be getting to bed, It's late,” I said as I pulled Embry out of the room, she began to struggle against me trying to get back at Lydia so I picked her up and hoisted her over my shoulders.

“Night Kane!” I heard Lydia shout from back in her room, I sighed Knowing it was for Em's benefit, just to wind her up so I ignored her!

“He won't be going to sleep anytime soon, trust me! I'll make sure to make him feel like a real man, don't worry! I'll try to keep the noise down but it's hard because he knows all the right moves!” she continued to shout as I walked into our room shutting the door behind me I threw her down on the bed.

She huffed as I looked down at her, I could feel her anger still, "I'm sorry that just happened" I tried to say but she got up and pushed me out the way, walking in the bathroom she slammed the door behind her.

I sat on the edge of the bed falling back as I sighed loudly "Great!"
