Ch. 5: A Room With A View

2504 Words
(Lacey’s POV) We walked into the bar, and he guided me to a quiet table off to the side. Once we were seated, we ordered our drinks and as the waitress walked away I noticed her eyeing me up and down. She was likely wondering why a guy like Leather was with a plain-jane like me, but I found the look funny. Thankfully, I didn’t laugh. With my luck, she’d spit in my drink if I did. “Hey, I’m really sorry about all that.” He said, which drew my attention back to him as I smiled and said, “It’s okay. I’m just glad you didn’t get hurt. Which reminds me… Here’s your phone back. You dropped it outside. I videoed the whole thing for you, just in case you need it.” I giggled a little when he looked at me, shocked I’d think to do something like that. If only he knew. I’ve always got my phone ready to record either video or voice recording because of Roger. Whenever he calls me, I record it. And yes, he calls me from jail when he gets his allotted time for phone calls to family. Usually, I let it go to voicemail. But every now and again, when I’m not paying attention, I answer without looking when it rings. I’m leaving it here when we leave. Emmitt's gonna wipe it clean, then we’re gonna toss it. Once we get to Cali, I’m gonna get a new one, with a new number and all. “Thanks!” Leather said and I just nodded. The waitress showed up with our drinks and as she was putting them on the table she was leaning over in front of him to give him a nice view down her top. I just shook my head, though he never paid her any attention, which was nice. “You’re welcome. It’s the least I could do to repay you for this unexpected date.” I laughed and he chuckled softly. “I’ve really enjoyed this evening, Lacey. It’s been a really long time since I’ve been out with someone I could just laugh with.” He said as I was taking a sip of my drink, “Well I’m glad I could help.” I teased, with a soft laugh. “So that guy…” he began hesitantly. “Is an a**hole. Yeah I got that. I’d rather not talk about any of that though. It’s done and over. Let’s just forget him.” I interrupted, and he smiled as he nodded and said, “Okay then. Let’s talk about you. Are you ever gonna tell me your actual name?” I laughed. I don’t know why he won’t believe me when I say, “It’s Lacey. Honestly.” He chuckled, still not believing me. So I said, “Okay, then. What do you think my name is?” He arched his brow and smirked as I took a sip of my drink, “What do I get if I guess correctly?” He asked, and I laughed as I said, “What would you like?” His smirk grew as he said, “A kiss.” Never one to shy away from a good challenge I laughed again and said, “Okay, you’re on. And if you don’t guess by the end of the evening, I get… your tie.” He chuckled at my suggestion as he asked, “My tie? Why my tie?” I shrugged as I said, “As a memento to remember you by. Deal?” I asked and he said, “Deal.” Then we shook on it, and he said, “Okay, so at least give me a hint.” I thought about it for a minute and said, “The first initial is in the latter half of the alphabet. Between J and V.” I laughed as he gave me a disbelieving look, “God you're awful at giving hints. You gotta narrow it down more than that.” I just shook my head with a giggle as I said, “Nope. That’s all you’re getting.” “You must be a blast at Christmas.” He chuckled, and I let out a fake gasp and pretended to be all indignant as I said in a haughty voice, “I’ll have you know I’m a lot of fun. Especially around the holidays. And I give great hints, too. You’re just lazy, that’s all.” He laughed loudly which made me giggle even as he started shaking his head. “Okay then, My name begins with a letter in the middle of the alphabet between H and Q.” I laughed as I said, “I’m just gonna call you HQ then.” “Oh god, please don’t. I’d actually rather stick with Leather.” He said with a soft chuckle as he reached over and gently ran his fingers along the back of my hand. It felt nice and gave me tiny good bumps all over my arm. I think he must have noticed because he ran his fingers along my arm next. Of course, that made those tiny goose bumps spread upwards along my arm and down over my other arm. “So do you have any siblings?” He asked. I shook my head as I said, “Nope, only child. I was such an ugly baby, Mom and Dad didn’t wanna take a chance of bringing any more like me into the world.” I laughed, but I also looked down, then sighed softly, “So what about you? You got any siblings?” I asked and as I looked up his face was right in front of mine. He was so close that as I looked up, our lips brushed, and he took full advantage of it, kissing me softly as his hand came up to cup my cheek. Now here is where I’d love to say I was a strong woman and didn’t fall for his charm, but that kiss was nothing like I’d ever felt before. It was gentle and sweet yet had an underlying passion to it that hinted at so many other pleasures it made my mind go all fuzzy. That was quickly followed by an eruption of butterflies dancing wildly in my lower belly which had me letting out a soft moan. My moan made him moan, and that sound sent tiny electric tingles all down my spine. I was in trouble, and I knew it. I wasn’t sure if I was glad or upset when he pulled back a little, then held my gaze as he said in a husky voice, “I’ve been wanting to do that all night.” I was a bit speechless. Unfortunately, I’m not exactly proficient at anything having to do with s*x. I understand the process. Mom gave me “The Talk” when I was twelve. But she never told me about kisses like that! Nor have I ever had a guy kiss me that way before. I wanted more, but I also didn’t wanna lead him on, either. I mean, I’m gonna be leaving New York for good soon. Striking up a relationship now would just be wrong. “Lacey? Please say something.” He said when I stayed quiet for too long. But what was I gonna say? The next thing I knew, my body just acted on its own and I leaned in closer, then kissed him again. He didn’t even hesitate to kiss me back as both hands came up to cup my face. I didn’t exactly know where to put my hands on him, so I just curled my arms around his neck. I’m not sure how long we kissed before we were rudely interrupted by people laughing loudly across the room. All I know is I was profoundly disappointed when he pulled away. Unfortunately, that reminded me we were in a public place and that there was, indeed, an entire world surrounding us. So as we pulled apart, I blushed deeply, and he smiled as he ran a finger gently along my jaw and said, “You're the most beautiful girl I’ve ever known. I wish this night never had to end. I’d love to wake up next to you and bring you breakfast in bed.” Whoa! I’ve never had anyone say anything so romantic to me before. Not even Roger, who I had my longest “relationship” with. I must have lost my ever-lovin’ mind because words tumbled from my lips I don’t remember giving permission to and I heard myself say, “So what’s on the breakfast menu?” (Lucas’ POV) D*mn. So much for… Wait! What? Did she just insinuate she’d stay the night? Okay, chill Luke. Just be casual. “Anything you want, darlin. So long as it includes spending time with you.” She giggled a little before saying, “You buyin, Tex?” I chuckled at the new name as I said, “Sweetheart? I’ll buy you ten breakfasts if that’s what you want.” “I promise, I don’t eat THAT much.” She giggled as she blushed. She was so beautiful. I couldn’t help but reach out and caress her cheek as I said, “Let’s go up to my place.” She hesitated before nodding as she bit her lower lip. I don’t know why, but she seemed nervous suddenly. I pushed it aside as I motioned the waitress over and signed off on our tab, then gave her a tip before taking Lacey’s hand, “Come on, gorgeous. Let’s get out of here.” She smiled as she nodded, and we walked out of the bar hand-in-hand. She started for the door and I chuckled as I asked, “Where are you going?” She blinked at me innocently as she answered, “Out to the car.” She sounded confused and while she obviously meant for that to be a statement, it came out as a question. I laughed as I motioned toward the elevators and said, “My place is here, sweetheart.” “You live here?” She asked, still confused, as she took my outstretched hand once again, and we headed toward the elevator as I said, “No, I’m actually staying here while my place is being fumigated and renovated.” She made an “OHHH” expression and, I swear, just when I didn’t think she could be any more adorable she proved me wrong yet again. And I gotta say, I love it. She’s also full of surprises, too. I really thought she’d say no when I brought this all up, but I can’t even begin to tell you how glad I am she didn’t. We got in the elevator with two other couples and I noticed Lacey sort of eyeing them curiously as we rose up, along the floors. We got to floor four and one of the couples got off. While we were going up to the next stop, I noticed the other woman eyeing me like she wanted to devour me or something and cringed. Nothing turns me off faster than a god d*mn cougar. I'm twenty-six, so I wasn’t even born yet when she was my age. This woman had to be in her sixties, maybe even her seventies. Yet she was eyeing me up and down like she wanted to jump my bone right then and there. At first, I was thankful when Lacey moved closer to me. But then I realized the old perv standing with the cougar was giving her the same treatment. I just tried my best to ignore them both. Thankfully, they got off at the tenth floor and I heard Lacey breathe a sigh of relief. I chuckled as I said, “I know the feelin’. Creepy, weren’t they?” She giggled a little as she said, “Very.” But I noticed she didn’t move away now that we were alone, either. We only had ten floors left before our stop, but I couldn’t wait that long. I turned and pulled her close, bringing my lips down on hers as I backed her up against the back wall of the elevator. Her arms went around my neck, and she kissed me back with just as much passion as I kissed her. All too soon, the elevator dinged, and we were f*rced to pull apart so we could step out of the elevator. There were only four rooms on this floor. Mine, my parents, and two other penthouses. I wasn’t kidding when I said mine was being fumigated and renovated. When I got into town a couple of weeks ago, I walked in and the place was a mess. It also wreaked from all the trash strewn all over the place. Apparently, one of the bellhops let people into my room, and they threw themselves a huge a** party, then just left. They even called off room service “until otherwise called for”. I knew something was up when I saw the Do Not Disturb sign on the door handle. I threw one h*ll of a sh*t fit over that, let me tell you. But now I’m stuck staying in my parents' penthouse suite for the duration of my stay. It’s a nice place, but it’s not mine. Know what I mean? Anyway, I fumbled a little with my keys because I was trying to hurry. I’ve never been so excited about a woman in my life. I just wanted to get inside, so I could get inside her. I know, I know, I’m a pig. But let me tell you something. This girl? She’d drive any Saint crazy with desire. And I’m so not a Saint. I’m not a bad guy, mind you. But I don’t see me ever getting my own cloud, either. If yah’ know what I mean? “Wow. You live here?” She asked with awe in her voice, which made me mentally kick myself for not thinking this through a bit better. I don’t wanna lie to her, but I don’t wanna come off like some rich f*ckhead either. Finally, I said, “No. I’m just staying here while my place is being torn apart, remember?” She smiled as she said, “Oh, right. Must be nice to have friends in such high places.” She joked as she looked out the glass doors leading onto the large balcony that had a gorgeous view of the city. “We can go out and enjoy the view if you like?” I offered, though I was already enjoying the view as I watched her. She was quick to shake her head as she said, “No. I’m fine right where I am, thanks.” I looked from her to the balcony and back again before asking curiously, “Afraid of heights?” She laughed as she said, “Terrified.”
