Chapter Seventeen: Kiss of a Bestfriend

Lying down on my bed is the least I can do for the morning at this time. Staring at the ceiling, waiting for my alarm clock to buzz and for the sunshine to rises to indicate that it is meant for me to start my day.

I slowly touched my lips, remembering the kissed that Cheryl and I had yesterday at Jeremy’s party.

I still can’t figured out why I kiss her back, nor why she kisses me. She is one of my friend, and I don’t date friend, as if I ever dated someone before. It is just, that was my first kiss… And I want my kiss to be memorable, my first kiss to be romantic, not on a bar and because of being drunk.

I mean, I am not that drank yesterday, I still have consciousness for em to remember everything. But I still can’t believe that we shared a kiss! Cheryl is one of my friend who I never dare myself into kissing her. She was the second friend I had after Jeremy. I even remember the first time we met.

We met on a cemetery. The day that my father died, I always go to cemetery after school, and then, there she was, I saw her sitting across where my father’s graveyard is. She was lonely, she was crying, and she was sitting there, on the grass with no accompanying her. Just like me.

I remember approaching her where she almost had a heart attacked, that causes her to attacked me and punch me, while crying. I knew that I realized that she was doing that to me not because I scared her or anything to do with me. I know she was doing that so she could spill her emotion out. So she would let her anger out of me.

I remember that she laughed after she realizes what she did and she apologizes. I ended up asking her to a lunch, since I felt horrible if I did not, you know? And that is when our friendship started. Mom thought she was my girlfriend for a while, even Jeremy was teasing me, but no, I am not really a boyfriend type.

She was visiting her grandmother who just recently passed away that time, she said she was the only one who understands her and always by her side, because her family are always focusing on the business that they had, in Singapore.

She was also like me, she had no siblings, only her father and mother…

But still, they are complete, while me, I felt like I will be all alone soon, since my mom is in the hospital because of Covid.

And ever since that day, the day we met, I never really had a doubt of kissing her, until yesterday when that happened.

After my moments at my bed, I finally started my day and get every papers that I need. I have a meeting with the DNWL corporation, short for The New Way of Living, later at 5 pm. I will have a contract signing of the product that me and my team has been building and planning for almost a year now. The one that I know for sure, will change my life, our life forever, even the company that we have. We are failing, my company is falling, and dad will not be so proud of me in heaven if that happens, and I believe, that this product that we are producing, we are creating, will create a new future for the better tomorrow. I am just thrilled and chilled when I learned that for the first time in the whole family history, the Madden did not follow where I am going, did not choose the path of competing me, competing against our company. I don’t know their reason, but I am so glad. Maybe they are tired of competing to the Martinez, or maybe, they are just busy enough for them not to think of any new product to produce for the DNWL Corporation this year.

If you didn’t know,, the DNWL Corporation is the largest and biggest corporation and company to the entire world, they are like apple and samsung, but, they are not a brand, nor a name, they are a company, a corporation, the one who are deciding if those products, gadgets, and stuff that every company we are creating, should be published or not. They are located in Washington, far away from Los Angeles, where I’m at. The DNWL Corporation will decide if the products from LA, where we are, will be considered to be one of the lucky one to get an opportunity to published their own creation. And for you to published it, you will need to sign a contract, then there will be a show off stage, where every business man out there, who owns a company, like us, will go discuss and show what their product is all about, and the next one will be deciding who will passed the test, and the last one will be the creating the products that had been successfully picked and publishing it soon after.

And it is kinda of a big deal, that is why we are preparing this Solar Gadgets for a year now. Because we believe that we are lucky, and this product that we have will be accepted, and when it will, everything will change, forever.

But before I go to the signing of contract, I have to visit my mom from the hospital, to see if she was okay or if she needed anything, and I have to tell her that I can handle the business that we have, that she has nothing to worry about.
