Chapter one

1239 Words
Evans is in a deserted land sitting in a meditating position with his eyes closed, he has been like that for nine hundred and ninety-nine days without opening his eyes, his mouth or allowing his mind to sway just to focus on one thing. "To become an immortal!" After his encounter with death, he barely got the opportunity to be alive again. Now he's determined to focus on himself and become an immortal, to overcome death and life so that no one will be able to send him to his death any more like what happened to him five years ago. Since he has overcome the nine hundred and ninety-nine days, he believes he will be able to overcome the last day, which is the most critical and important day, to make it the one thousand days. The nine hundred and ninety-nine days are not easy but terrible, but he remained unmoved and was able to overcome the nine hundred and ninety-nine days. After his encounter with death, he only thinks of becoming an immortal after having the opportunity to be the new Lord. He expected to fight with the demons and the other Lords who had emerged before him like he had been doing since he started the cultivation of wanting to become an immortal. But the last day seemed more peaceful and silent than he imagined. No power, force or demon has come to battle with him like before. He would not know that he would fail the test of the day of becoming just to save the son he did not know about. "Lord Evans, your son has been dragged to his death". Evans opened his eyes, which hadn't been shut for the past nine hundred and ninety-nine days. "What did you just say?" Evans didn't know when he opened his mouth, which had not opened for nine hundred and ninety-nine days too. "Your son has been dragged to his death like you were dragged to your death five years ago. You cannot allow the same fate you suffered to be repeated with your son", the voice tells him. "No! My son will not suffer the same fate as me", Evans let out and stood up from his meditating position which he should not have stood up from. He doesn't even care about the nine hundred and ninety-nine days which he has spent cultivating to become an immortal. The only thing on his mind at that time was to save his son. "Son, wait for me. I will save you and crush everyone who wants you dead", Evans let out and picked up his swinging sword, then charged out. The moment he launched his double sword to strike, he realized he had gone to the future and had left the present which he is. What he heard is not something happening in the present but the future. "What is happening?" Evans wonders. Then he comes back to the present. "This is a test for the last day of becoming. To become an immortal, you must overcome your flesh and blood, but since there is still something you have to protect in this mortal world, you have failed the test to become an immortal", The voice tells him. Realizing what had happened, Evans grinded his teeth tightly. He has failed to become as immortal as he wanted. "I don't even have a son!" He let out painfully. "You have to save your son before it is too late" the voice which had been talking to him said to him. "Son, though I don't know of your existence. I will save you", Evans let go of his determination to become an immortal and rise up from the position he has been since nine hundred and ninety-nine days ago. It is the nine hundred and ninety-nine days in which Evans, who has just emerged as the new Lord of Arizona, has been at for his cultivation. If he is able to stay for just one day, he will overcome the power of death and living and become an immortal. Everyone says the nine hundred and ninety-nine days which Evans has been chastised are the most difficult days, but little did they know that the last day which will make it the thousand days is the most difficult and most terrible day to overcome. "This is the day of becoming, if the new Lord can overcome the day of becoming. He will surely become an immortal, but I doubt he will be able to overcome this day though he has managed to overcome the nine hundred and ninety-nine days" the old seer said and continues. "This day is the most dread because he will have to fight his blood and flesh. Who can fight their own flesh and blood and overcome them? This battle can come in any form to ovepower the Lord. No one knows how the last day will be because no one has attained to this day before, it was only said that the last day is the most dread one and the most important" the old seer said to Durga, a beautiful tall young lady who always wait on Lord Evans. "What if the new Lord can overcome this day?" Durga ask curiously. "I wish the new Lord could overcome it and become an immortal as he wanted" she adds worriedly. "Let's wait and see, he has to endure till twelve Durga in the morning, it is just one hour to twelve" the seer adds and sigh. Little did Durga knows that Evans already failed the test of becoming. Durga waits anxiously for Evans as she watches the clock ticks. "It is just a minute to twelve" she thinks anxiously. "Get ready to visit the city" Evans voice sound from behind her. Durga looks surprise and confused, she turned to see it's really Evans who was supposed to be at the cultivation ground. It is just remaining a minute for Evans to become an immortal as he has wished but here he is. "My Lord, why are you here? You are suppose to wait in the cultivation ground till twelve o'clock" Durga said to him still confused. "I have to leave to the city. I must save my son" Evans tells her. Durga could see that he was not joking at all. With the look on Evans' face, Durga knows that nothing could stop him from leaving. "Does that mean the nine hundred and ninety-nine days are just wasted?" Durga ask slightly angry. "I don't care! I have to save my son. I cannot allow him to go through the same fate as me" Evans tells Durga and start to change his cloth to leave. But Durga stop him. "My Lord, it's late to go to the city now" she said to him hoping he will not be rash. Evans looks at Durga and sigh deeply to calm down. He really wa ts to leave for the city immediately, but since it's night, he decides to wait to dawn. Durga is utterly confused, because as far as she knows, Evans doesn't have any son. "By dawn the disciple should be made ready. I am going to save my son" Evans said to Durga determined to face heaven and earth to save the son he knew nothing about. "Alright, my Lord" Durga could not argue with him nor stop him, but have to do what he wanted.
