Chapter 1 Misunderstanding

3616 Words
Otto's POV I'm getting ready to leave the hospital after a long, productive, and successful day of training. I'm a physical therapist and trainer for the injured to help them recover after surgeries at the hospital. This is a strenuous job for my mental and physical stability, but after everything I have done to help out others and see them succeed has been the reward required to make this job feel so successful and worth every second drained into it. I have helped so many people in this job, and that alone makes the lonely sleepless nights worth it to me, at least for now. I used to get lonely after this job because I never had anyone to come home to. But after so many years of trying to get someone who will work with me and for me, I could never find it. They were all the same to me. All I would get is cheated on or treated like sh*t. So I gave up on the relationships and tried to force them to happen when they all just ended in disappointment.. at least for myself. I just put all my effort into my job now because, at least, as of right now, this job is more rewarding than any relationship I have been through. My body seems to be screaming at me, making sure I know that I'm starving after a long day of work but as a bachelor living the bachelor life I don't have much to eat at home, I'm not the biggest on fast food being a trainer and eating healthier foods. But every now and then I'll get me some fast food, but since tonight is not that night, I'll have to go to the store to find something to pique my interest.. That I might be willing to make for dinner. I'm walking down the always busy, bright white hospital hallways towards the elevator, as a group of nurses make their way in my direction. I am now patiently waiting for the elevator to get to my floor so I can leave for the day. I tap my foot impatiently, waiting in hopes I don't have to deal with anyone else for the day. Of course, that can't happen for me, especially when it comes to the single, caked on makeup, overwhelmingly strong perfume covered skanky nurses in this hospital. I'm not looking for a piece of ass, drugs, or drinking all the time anymore. I want a relationship or nothing, but no one around here wants that. They just want to party like kids, so I just stay single for my sake and sanity. "Hey...Otto, I hope you're having a great day because you are looking handsome as usual... Um.. We saw how great your patients have been doing, and we know it's only thanks to your hard, dedicated work... So to celebrate, we should go out, have a couple of drinks, maybe dinner, and see where the night leads us." One of the nurses says this to me, giving me those googily lust filled eyes with her petite hand rubbing up and down the side of my exposed bicep muscle. I roll my eyes as I am looking away.. but I'm going to try to be nice, so I take a deep breath and turn looking at the nurses. They are pretty but just not what I'm looking for at all. Honestly, I can't even remember any of their names either, mostly because I'm not even remotely interested in her or her friends at all. I hate it when the girls throw themselves at me anyways, for me, it's a straight turn-off. As stupid as that may sound, it seems almost desperate. I want a girl who will show me she likes me but not throw herself at me in desperation for attention. I will admit I'm a good looking guy who obviously works out being a trainer and all, but I think it's the biggest turn off when the nurses here throw themselves at me and they do it all the time. I just try not to be rude and shut them down nicely.. or as nice as possible. "Thanks..that's tempting for sure, but no, it's been a long day, and I'm exhausted, so I'm just going to go straight home thanks though have a good night, ladies." I say as I'm saved by the elevator beep as the door opens for me to enter.. perfect timing. I press the parking floor button as I wait for the doors to shut trying to ignore the lusty stares being thrown at me.The girls frantically wave at me as the doors close and take me away from their prying eyes.. thankfully. Once the elevator takes me to the parking lot, I walk to my car as I jump in, turning on the engine. Then, heading to the closest grocery store, that's right in between my work and home. I park my car and get out, making my way into the store. I grab a small handheld basket at the front doors. I don't have an actual list of items to grab. I'm just seeing if anything piques my interest as I wander around. I'm going up and down the isles, glancing around with nothing peaking my interest so far. I make my way to the next aisle when I hear soft soothing singing coming from one of the customers down the middle of this aisle. The singing is so soft, beautiful, and it sounds as if the singer is barely even trying to sing the songs the grocery store is playing over head. Either way, if she is trying or not, it's absolutely melodic as I listen to her sing.. It's as if I'm in a trance absolutely hypnotized and can't even control my feet as they make their way down the aisle closer to whoever is singing. The customers start to disperse, so I make my way closer to the middle of the aisle, still investigating everyone around. I try to single out the woman singing beautifully. I see a single woman at least a foot shorter than me with silky long dark hair that trails all the way down to her ass. I can only see her curvy hour glass figure with her back turned to me. I just secretly watch her as she grabs the cans off of the shelves, reading the labels and keeping some while putting others back as she continues to sing to herself in complete harmony with the songs playing overhead. I stare at her hour glass frame, taking in all of her beauty as my gaze trails over her, checking out what details of what I can see. I see she has a leather jacket that fits her frame, perfect with a green V neck t-shirt that's a little low, showing some cleavage but not too much. Her hair just takes over with it being so dark, you would think it's black, but under the light, you can see tinges of red and brown throughout her hair. But the dark hair makes her porcelain smooth skin really pop. I step closer pretending to look at something on the shelf and man I have to say she smells amazing, I can't tell if it's a perfume, shampoo or just her but either way it's absolutely intoxicating. She glances up at me with beautiful sparkling green eyes that match her shirt perfectly, She has some red, brown and green speckled glasses on, that end up framing her beautiful eyes making them pop out even more than they already did. She had an adorable button nose as she scrunched it up, reading all the details on the label, looking for who knows what on there. She now actually notices me by her, and her eyes go a little wide in realization, "Sorry, excuse me.. I just need one more, then I'm out of your way, I promise." She says so sweetly, smiling a small smile at me. I notice her plump light burgundy colored lips and her bright white teeth as smiles once more. She grabs one last can, tossing it into her basket, then walks away down the aisle, singing once again to herself. I watch her walk away as I think about her reaction to me.. She didn't even hit on me or throw herself at me like the other girls do.. curiously, not her, though. That's intriguing for sure. I continue to watch her body sway back and forth as she walks down the isle in her dark blue skinny jeans that fit her curves just perfectly with her knee high boots on that just really take the cake for her outfit. She turns the corner, looking around as she continues walking away. My legs start to move on their own following her. I swear I'm not normally like this, but there is something pulling me to her that just straight intrigues me. I watch her go through each aisle, trying not to seem obvious about following her. After a little bit of singing and wandering, she fills up her little basket that's on her arm and makes her way to the checkout counter. I walked to the shelf close by pretending to see something on there I liked as I observed her for a little longer. The cashier smiles as he sees her and instantly says, "Hey Kat!" Kat? hmm.. that's an interesting name.. obviously a nickname, I'm assuming, but still intriguing. She glances up at the cashier, flashing a smile to him, responding, "Hey Chris, how is your shift going so far?" she says this sweetly to him, making him smile even bigger at her. "It's been good. I can't complain, and I have about an hour or so left until this shift is done and over with... You know what would make my day even better, and topping it off just right? If you come to dinner with me." he says as almost a question to her. She places her hand on his gently but responds, "I'm sorry Chris your a sweet guy, but I'm going to have to say no. I just have too much going on right now. You know where I'm at almost every night, and I don't have too much extra time for anything else. Thanks for the offer, though. That's too sweet of you." I wonder where she is talking about that she is at every night... "So you're telling me the only way I will ever get lucky enough to see you is at The Clover? Fine! I'll see you tonight then.. have a beer waiting for me!" the cashier says so casually as he smirks at her. She let's out the most beautiful sounding laugh, and I bet if I could see her face, her smile would be just as genuine as her stunning laugh right now. Her laugh is just as melodic as her singing voice. I'm enticed and enthralled with her for sure. "Well, first things first, Chris, you need to be of age to drink, and then we will talk about that beer." The cashier matches her smile and laughs, shaking his head as he continues ringing up and bagging her groceries. Wait.. are they talking about the 4 Leaf Clover Bar at the edge of town? Hmm, I wonder... She pays with cash as she grabs her bags, changes, and reciept walking out the front door. Once I see her walk out the door, I start to panic. I want to talk to the one girl who has struck my interest in a long time.. for once, even if it's just for a moment. So I set down my basket on the floor and left the store to follow her. I try to go fast but not too fast to alarm anyone at my sudden exit of the store. I see her turn down the side alley right next to the store. That's a weird area to walk down, but ok, I'll take the bait and still follow. I hurry up getting to the alleyway, but as I turn to go down the alley, she is nowhere to be seen. That's weird. Where did she go? I look around, looking for any sign of her, and I see nothing. I slowly keep walking farther down into the alley, still in search of this stunning woman, when I receive a hard hit to my chest. This action caught me off guard startling me, but now I'm alert to this attack. I keep getting hit with a fury of fists as I block each hit. I keep blocking myself from this attack until I realize it's the girl I was following hitting me with all these precise attacks. The hits that she is landing on me take years to perfect with jujitsu. I watch her intently still blocking her moves, and man, her flight of fury fists into my body is almost stunning.. but in a good way. I keep blocking every hit she throws at me, not wanting to hit her back, so I just continue to block the whole time. I would honestly have been intimidated on a whole new level because of her, if I wasn't so mesmerized by her movements. We twist and turn, kicking and hitting, moving so swiftly around the alleyway. We're matching each others movements as if we are dancing to an intricate song and dance that only we know the dance moves to. Our dance.. or fight goes for a little while since I have been training in jujitsu for years now, but apparently, so has she. We both twist and turn, still throwing new moves at each other and blocking as much as we can until she lets out a huff as she ducks from my move dodging it. She spins on one foot, lifting her leg up backward and kicking me in the chest with the other foot quickly so she can pin me to the wall, ending our intricate dance to my dismay. Our eyes lock instantaneously. She looks at me with confusion in her eyes as she and I are both panting at this point. "Why are you following me?" she asks abruptly, breaking the silence between us.. I'm still in shock as I stare at her beautiful features up close. I noticed her one blue and one green eye, which is curious, I thought her eyes were both green before. I would have remembered if they were one green and one blue... I have never seen such beauty. I take in her scent it's even more intoxicating up close. She brings me out of my thoughts as she says once more, "Don't deny it, I saw you were following me.. why?" She asks this with so much dominance that it instantly turns me on to see this dominant fire in her eyes. I take the chance to catch her off guard as I sweep my leg under her legs making her fall backwards as I catch her mid air, spinning her and pinning her to the wall and underneath me now. Without hesitation, she pulls a butterfly knife out from her boot and flips it around until the sharp tip of the knife lands against my throat. She holds it their with a little pressure, so I know it's there, but not enough to cut me.. at least not yet. The knife, I think, is more of a threatening warning to me before anything bad happens. So for a moment, we just stare at each other in close proximity since there is almost no space between us.. That is until she says what I'm not expecting with so much challenge in her eyes, "Tell him I will NEVER go without a fight." We are still locked in each others gazes for a second until I register what she has just said and respond with confusion laced through my voice, "Tell who?..what?" After I say this, her eyes turn wide..."If you aren't.. um.. who I think you are.. then why are you here?! What do you want?" She asks curiously, now looking more confused than me, as her eyes search my face for an answer. Who was she planning on attacking like this? If it wasn't me, I wonder... I take a deep breath in taking in more of her amazingly soothing scent before I decide to answer her. "I just wanted to come talk to you.. is it that strange for you? Where did you learn to fight like that? Oh, and why are your eyes like that?" I bombard her with my stament and inquiries, catching her off guard. She lowers her knife slowly from my neck as I can tell her mind is reeling even more now. She slowly lets me go lowering her hands, and I do the same as we are still in close proximity. She puts away her knife in her boot securely before looking back up at me. She keeps complete eye contact with me responding to my inquiry, "First, Yes it's weird for a guy to follow a girl in the store, then outside as well to an alleyway and then fight her in that alleyway. Secondly, it's none of your business where I learned to fight like this.. and..wait, did you say my eyes?" I nod at her, and her eyes go wide as she pulls her phone out, turning on the camera looking at her eyes, now one blue and one green eye. She starts to panic and cuss to no one in particular. "F*#k where did that contact go? I can't go out there like this f*#k what am I going to do?!" "Wait..contacts? Why would you have contacts in if you're wearing glasses?" I ask curiously because this situation is getting weirder and weirder by the minute. "Your eyes are breathtaking, by the way. I have never seen a woman with one green and one blue. That's so... mesmerizing, and they make you really stick out." I say to her as she stares at me with confusion evident on her face. It's as if she has never been complimented on her eyes before. I don't know how that would even be possible, Her eyes are one of her best features for sure with them being so big and even more stunning now with the two colors.. but that's what it looked like to me. It was like she was confused about my compliment. She stares at me for a second, nodding at me before responding softly under her breath. I can still hear her response whether she thinks I can or not, "make me stick out.. yup, that's why I wear the contacts.. so I won't." I pause and think about what she just said before I respond. "Well, I'm sorry about your contact. If you want, I can try to help you." I say to her, trying to make up for this misunderstanding. I can tell she is thinking about my offer as the wheels in her head turn. "Ok, fine..can you please go back inside to the pharmacy area and grab me another pair of green contacts so people won't be able to see me like THIS.. please." her eyes are pleading with me at this request. She acts as if it's a bad thing to see her eyes like that. But I guess who am I to judge. I nod and gesture for her to stay here as I run inside the store and take her instructions. I buy the contacts and come back out to the alleyway where she is still waiting for me against the wall. I hand her the box holding the contacts and she smiles at me as she opens it taking one green contact out and putting it over the top of her blue eye so that now both of her eyes appear as green again. "Um.. thank you for the help with getting me these, and sorry about the misunderstanding.. oh, and sorry if I hurt you.. I thought you were with someone else and... um.. nevermind.." She says this as she pulls cash out of her pocket to give me for the contacts, but I just wave her off nicely telling her no. She curiously stares at me as I decide to break the silence. "So now that the misunderstanding is done and over with, would you maybe like to go to dinner sometime or practice jujitsu together? You're one of the only people who can give me a run for my money with your fighting techniques." I ask as she smiles at me, blushing slightly, looking to the side, showing that there is just one dimple on the right side of her cheek. It's adorable. I don't think I have seen anyone with only one dimple before either. She thinks about it for a moment, you can tell it peaks her interest to a point..then shakes her head nervously stuttering through her answer, "I'm sorry I can't.. I.. um.. nevermind.. I have to get going. Try to have a better night, and please don't tell anyone about my eyes, please." She says this to me with her big doe pleading eyes as I nod at her. She grabs her grocery bags and quickly walks out of the alley, leaving me completely stunned after what just happened. I don't think I have ever been left speechless and stunned after an encounter with a woman.. I have to say I will never forget this encounter. It was, without a doubt, verbally invigorating and unforgettable.
