The group had no idea what to do about the little girl that Laken took in the open snowy field.
The little girl is only unconscious and looks fine. The bruises and frostbites mean she's been out for too long.
Luciella let the little girl lie on her lap, “Light Blessing,” she gently chanted few Light Blessings to her several bruises.
“First a teenage half-elf lady, now you kidnapped a little girl who loves to dress as a mage?” asked Eirisse while she's also taking care of the little girl. She rummages through her pocket to get her red polka-dotted handkerchief and she poured a little bit water from a container to rub on the little girl's lips.
Just in case the little girl wakes up and recognized he's the Bloodless Revenant, Laken puts up a white mask that is amongst the merchandise Dunkan gave them. He paid for the price as an equivalent exchange.
“Shhh!” Xenon shushed, “We're about to enter the Frostwolf's City's southern gate. There are four guards, two of them are checking the travelers' belongings while the other two were guarding the gate.” Xenon spoke according to what he sees from afar using his telescopic eyes.
“Eirisse, prepare the merchant pass and show them the document if needed. Everyone, talk only if they asked.” Laken told.
“Roger!” The rest nodded in confirmation. Luciella even got used to it for some reason.
When their carriage was in line for the inspection, Eirisse went out of the carriage to take care of the business before the two guards inspector doubts their facade. She held the merchant pass in her hand to be sure.
The guards took a peek inside the carriage, some goods, and other stuff makes it looks real and legitimate traveling merchant carriage.
One of the guards approached Eirisse, “Your merchant pass young lady?” He asked gesturing Eirisse that he wanted to see the pass.
She gave what he seeks to verify the truth, “It's here sir knight,” Eirisse modestly handed the merchant pass.
The guard read it back and forth. He gave it back to her, “Your carriage may enter now,” the guard confirms. His demeanor changed into a gentleman.
Eirisse thought it's all clear and is going to go back inside the carriage when the same guard who talked to her asked something, “What's your company name?”
The guard grinned secretly so Eirisse determined he's just hitting on her. She needed to answer his question or else something bad might transpire before they could enter the city.
“Ughh... ahh...” Eirisse's out of ideas. She's sweating despite the chill and she needed to think something they will use for all eternity.
The guard is waiting. He is starting to doubt her when Eirisse tried winging it to get out of the problem, “Ahh... we are a traveling merchant that works for... the Pandora Corporation!” she replied in a panic, “We'll be going now, see you around!” Eirisse grinned back at him and went back inside of the carriage.
“Wait, what's your name?” the guard asked but it's too late. The carriage managed to enter the Frostwolf City without getting into trouble. The guard dejectedly returned to his post.
“Sheesh, that was close...!” Eirisse exclaimed. She's groaning trailing her breathing.
“You're so cool back there Eirisse,” Luciella praised her with a smile. Eirisse thought that it was worth it as their facade was not revealed or else they're screwed.
Eirisse sat next to Laken considering Luciella's taking care of the little girl they found on the snow. She was surprised when Laken patted her head and said, “You did your best, and Pandora Corporation's not bad,” he praised Eirisse too.
She's so flustered when Laken did that out of the blue. Eirisse moved to the corner of the carriage and said to herself, “Luciella's my little sister but this time I won against her,” everyone heard it.
Laken and Luciella are simply oblivious to understand what she said so they didn't care much.
Once they were inside the fortified port city, Frostwolf, they began to witness the lively and vigorous scenery it brings to the people around.
The streets are busy. The folks were exuberant and joyous. Traders selling many things that were only available in the city like giant squid and shark meat.
What makes the city's merry lifestyle the most is the cold winter season. The ice flakes that gently touch their cheeks were chilly but the crowd will warm it up.
To prevent themselves from taking a detour around the enticing fun of the city, Xenon headed out to the west to reach the coast. They needed to take care of the paperwork and other stuff before they can board a ship to travel in the Arcadion Continent.
Luciella was startled when the little girl moved her arm. She wakes up from unconsciousness.
“Hmm... Wh-What...?!” The little girl freaked out seeing persons she doesn't know. She insinuated to the seat to reach the corner of the carriage.
The little girl doesn't know what to do as she shivers in fright, “Wh-Who are you people...? Are you go-going to... kidnap me?!” she asked shivering.
Laken is hopeless when it comes to children so Eirisse and Luciella calmed her instead.
“No, no, don't be afraid it's okay now,” Luciella smiled at her.
“Are you hurt? We found you lying in the snow on the outskirts of the city.” Eirisse told her kindly.
“This man here with the mask helped to carry you in the carriage and Luciella here healed your frostbites. We are here to help you.” Eirisse explains trying to be as gentle as possible.
The little girl seems to have calmed a little bit. She ascertained Laken's party aren't bad people and they were only helping her. She remembered she passed out from the outskirts because of extreme cold.
Laken's wearing a creepy-looking white mask that instills distrust. She's still avoiding them while pushing herself on the edge.
“What's your name, little girl?” Eirisse kindly asked.
The little girl's unhesitant to answer. She hides her face with her white hair and meekly tried to talk, “It's... a secret!” she totally covered her face with the tome she got on her waist belt.
“A secret?” Luciella's confused tilting her head.
“Adorable...!” Eirisse's a little bit in joy. Eirisse is restraining her arms so she won't pat the little girl. She wanted to reach her but she's still keeping away from everyone.
“Uhmm...” She eventually feels wanted to talk so everyone listens to what she has to say, “I actually have my sister... we were separated and I don't know what to do...” the little girl said in distress.
“What does she look like?” Laken asked. He feels that it is his responsibility to help her since he's the one who brought her to the carriage.
Laken at least wanted to help her so that they can mainly focus on what's in hand. The girl decisively had the confidence to discuss it up.
“She's the same height as me... her mage dress is color blue. She had black hair as you mister...” The little girl answered.
“Are we some kind of caretaker?” Xenon butted in out of nowhere. Laken gave Xenon another head-chopping. The clanking metal almost sounded that his armor is crushed.
“Shut up if you don't have an important thing to say,” Laken told him off.
“Sorry! It was a zargonian joke so I can't just don't use it after you gave me an opportunity. Don't take it seriously.” Xenon apologizes and fights for his point.
“Forget about that walking metal jest. We'll find your little sister alright.” Laken kindly extended his arm and you can tell he's smiling even with a mask on.
“Really...? Thanks, mister!” The little girl was joyous.
The party is now taking a little detour to the Frostwolf City in order to find the sister of the missing girl.
She reminded Laken of someone he knew but he can't seem to remember on what context did she saw her.
