Chapter 11 – Chasing Fate

1561 Words
The sunny and spacious greenery in the sanctuary of Eirisse made Laken couldn't resist himself from performing morning workouts and push-ups after checking the outside ward. Meanwhile, Luciella extends help to Eirisse on taking care of the house and packing up important things such as rare grimoires, potions, and other adventuring necessities. Eirisse believed that the reason Laken came rushing in her sanctuary is to get a helping hand. “Any time now, surely, Laken will invite me on your journey.”  Eirisse smiled. She packed an eccentric-looking silver chain that seems to be imbued with a seal. “He will? Does that mean you'd assist us?” Luciella asked and is a bit elated, “Yes, I couldn't just leave him to you forever.” Eirisse declared but Luciella's too innocent to comprehend what she just said. The early bird gets the worms is what they say, but when Eirisse's ushered Luciella to leave the house so they'd speak with Laken about the next plan, abruptly, he came crashing in front of the door. Almost losing his breath. He warned them. “Get out of here now!” Laken exclaimed at the top of his lungs. The surprised and distressed countenance of Eirisse quickly discerned what is going on so they immediately went out without explaining a thing or two to Luciella. “What's going on? Why are we running?” Luciella asked bewildered. The party sprint towards the back exit of the sanctuary. “I never expected them to be early than the birds.” Eirisse bit her lips in disappointment to herself. “Dodge!” The instinct of Laken to see a blast of invisible magic projectile pushed away both Luciella and Eirisse. The path exploded so strongly the gust propelled them away. “I'm in your debt again Laken...” Eirisse checks her body to see any injuries and examines Luciella along. Good thing no one was hurt and everyone is safe for the time being. “They are here...” Laken breathe. He grasps the sword on his back. Readying himself on the unavoidable encounter. After the smog went out, the silhouette of five personalities became clear as the day. They possess a great amount of magical affinity enough for Eirisse to grit her teeth. What revealed in their path was the five notable, and gallant members of the Heavenly Heroes, unhesitant to strike down evil. “We are here to end this once and for all, Bloodless Revenant.” declared by the woman who had the garments of an archmage imbued with violet magic. “Helenia Aracana Endellion, third Heavenly Hero. If you truly desire to end all, where's the rest of the members?” Laken mocked her but it didn't seem to affect the overflowing pride they had. “There's no need, we will suffice.” Reciprocated by the guy with the knives covered in a dark cloak. “You're conceited Dimitri! I, Sherkylle, will bring judgment upon these peasants in no time.” the haughty asrial told. The beauty of his elegant wings was enough to make you forget his arrogant ego; it seems his race is of an asrial hailing from Sky Domain. He carries a bow that is infused together with the affinity of light. “Begone.” The little girl beside the asrial who seems to be levitating and carrying a bear puppet beckoned in the sky downward. The ball of frozen oxygen came crashing down to the three of them, but Laken couldn't allow meeting his demise delivered by an arrogant brat. “Severe!” Laken shattered the spell of the little girl. She hid again on the back of the lofty asrial. She was frightened by the furious eyes of Laken, the patience is about to topple the balance. “You scared my little Alice! How dare you make her feel sorry.” the woman whose half body is of a fish seemingly a mermaid, patted the head of the little girl to comfort her. The woman could turn the ground into spring water to freely move while in the ground, but surely it drains her magic as not all merfolk from Millennium Shore had that ability. “There's no escape now, surrender now or face demise.” Helenia pointed out her wooden rod towards the party. Such a predicament seems to make the party be stuck at an impasse. Laken won't accept the dangerous situation go on. There's no telling if the strategy of Laken will get them out of that mess since there's no choice. Laken struck his sword on the soil, waving both her hands upward indicating he surrendered. “I surrender,” Laken declared. Before he put up with his false concede, he gestured Eirisse and Luciella to leave the place the moment he commenced the plan. Eirisse doesn't want to admit at first because that will expose Laken in a much more vulnerable circumstance, nevertheless, she agreed. Afterall the five Heavenly Hero is currently smoking them out, there's nothing they could do about it. “Oh? Were you sure we never saw you gesture to your comrades? The eyes of the oblivion see all.” Helenia chuckled. There's no time to waste, it may turn to be a blunder, but time is much more important, is what Laken had thought. “Now!” The moment Laken shouted, Eirisse went to place a silver choker made out of chain on his neck. Then right after she ran in the opposite direction together with Luciella. “Don't let the two escape! Especially the red-headed woman.” Helenia commanded the other Heavenly Heroes to chase after the two. Laken will not allow such a thing. “Step back!” Laken roared his soul out. The azure flames in his right arm engulfed his sword. Completely entering into Revenant Metamorphosis in no time. Through the help of the special chains on her neck given by Eirisse, he won't totally lose control as the artifact helps Laken perceive good-willed thought which is the opposite of the Revenant Metamorphosis. Clearing the mind of impurities and letting anger run rampant. Years ago, Laken asked if she can create such an artifact. Eirisse accepted and wanted to help him too. That's the sole reason she is staying in the border of the Jade City to create an artifact that temporarily stops Laken's Metamorphosis. “Change of plan, we need to focus on him,” Dimitri suggested. All the five Heavenly Heroes nodded; they surrounded the lone wolf who only desired the world to be freed of darkness. “Rain through the clouds: Arrows of Judgement!” The asrial's bow fluctuates a light towards the clouds. A storm of arrows that resembles rain droplets falls from the sky. Laken with his maneuvered instinct not that of a madman thanks to the artifact, but of a master swordsman, he skillfully sliced all of the incoming arrows into half. “Don't turn back!” The Heavenly Hero whose name is Dimitri clashed blades with Laken. They are of equal style and elegance. The flashing blades are so fast the other Heavenly Heroes couldn't interfere. The reckoning part is that Dimitri's blade was about to meet its limits because of the strong blows Laken is taking out. With another strike, Dimitri's blades were destroyed, “Tch.” He groaned retreating in the backline for the moment. “Be trapped into the nothingness! Eternal Prison!” Helenia finally invoked large-scale grand magic; a void-type magic spell. The sky and the land where Laken stand turned grayscale rendering lifeless. The magic is not the same as Space Prison Morgan had since it only stops the matter, but Helenia's magic stops the very fabric of time and space itself. The lone wolf was locked in a rift of time, he couldn't move nor utter a word, it was a real prison. “Alice put him into sleep,” Helenia commanded. Alice communes the spirits surrounding her to reach Laken under the pressure of the Eternal Prison. She stopped invoking the spell when an odd thing started to occur inside the magic prison. All the Heavenly Heroes present in the scene were all astonished when Laken moved inside the time and space lock. “Argh!” The howl of vengeance resonated up to the clouds. Breaking the artificial mirror realm they bound him with. Laken proves that a Revenant will not be bounded by the concept of time and space. There's no such thing as a limit to the vocabulary of the cursed ones. “Since you guys' are kind to come all the way here, might as well steal the shards.” The smirk Laken exhibited surely sent shivers down to their spine. “I can't make him sleep...” The little girl Alice has hidden again behind Skerkylle. She's too frightened of Laken's demonic face. Even though she was considered as a Heavenly Hero, she's still an innocent girl who is tasked to be a hero. “Dimitri are you finished now?” Helenia gestured to her party. They chased Laken and Eirisse with a plan after all. “It's finished now,” Dimitri assured. “Get back for a while everyone!” Helenia commenced their last resort of capturing the Bloodless Revenant. A thin yet masquerading the trace of magical affinity beckoned the process of capture. Octagon-shaped lines manifested through the soil; eight vampire-type magical circles appeared on the corners of those lines and it seems Laken is restrained again. “Bring the dusk over the sun: Diosis Lunar Eclipse!” Dimitri invoked an ancient spell. The sky turned pitch-black. The magical circles summoned a large-scale sealing spell; a type of ancient vampire-type magic that turns the victim into stone. “Laken!” From afar the voice of Luciella can't reach him. Eirisse pulled Luciella while crying, non-verbally saying that they shouldn't waste the ample time given by Laken for them to escape. There's no shred of hope left. A Revenant is still subjected to sealing magics. The petrification is slowly taking over his body, not until a flare of solar laser descends from the skies as if it came from heaven.
