Lydia.
I slipped on a blue denim and a white silk shirt to pair, along with two inches of my black heel to my feet. My gaze stared at my reflection in the mirror, while I took the last of my wear, which was the blonde wig that covered over my natural black hair.
I wasn’t Lydia anymore, but Stella. Stella Jenkins.
I took my leave out of the house, before taking an Uber to ‘The Vue’ , which was a restaurant where I and Sebastian decided to meet. It was past 12 in the afternoon and I knew I was running late to meet Sebastian, as the time we set was to be 12 sharp. I arrived at the 5 star restaurant, while my gaze wondered to find Sebastian and when I couldn’t, I took out my phone to dial his number. “I do hope I’m the one you’re searching for,” I felt a hand rest on my back, which took my attention to turn and stare at Sebastian.
“Hi Sebastian,” I spoke with a smile which took my lips. My gaze dazzled his appearance, with his outfit pair of a black pant trouser and grey polo shirt tucked in. My smile stayed pleased with his appearance even more, when I noticed the beard which he kept to be well shaved, so as his hair.
What was it again about men with beards?
Oh they were breathtaking.
“How are you Lydia?” Sebastian asked, as it was a notice of mine that such a question always exited Sebastian’s lips anytime we greeted. He always asked about my well-being. “Come on, I’ve reserved a table for us,” Sebastian spoke, as he didn’t let me answer his question, before we proceeded to the reservation he had for us. It wasn’t the first time I was meeting Sebastian at a high class restaurant like this, for if I wasn’t meeting him with his family, we would always be at one high class lounge or the other.
“Please, take your seat.” Sebastian pulled out the chair for me at the table that was at a secluded spot in the restaurant.
“Thank you.” I smiled gracefully, as I appreciated every of Sebastian’s offers. Through my time of knowing Sebastian, I came to realize how much of a gentleman he was, yet, I felt it was too early to conclude on his nature, as even I, wasn’t exactly portraying my true self. “I hope I didn’t keep you waiting for long?” I asked Sebastian, as he took his own seat opposite me.
“Don’t worry about it.” Sebastian said. “You look beautiful by the way,” Sebastian gaze rested on me with a smile on his lips.
“Thank you.” A calm, yet, appreciative smile took to my lips. “And you look pleasant yourself, I see you’ve had a change of hairstyle.” I said with a smirk on my lips, referring to new pompadour cut.
“Well, I thought it was time to look different for a while.” Sebastian said with a sly smile on his lips, as indeed he did look different and more handsome to say, if I must.
“It does suit you.” I complimented him, while I watched a smile took to his lips.
“Thank you.” He passed me a nod. “So, what would you like to have?” Sebastian asked me.
“I’ll just have a glass of wine.” I said.
“Just wine?” Sebastian inquired with a scrunched brow.
“Yes, I’m trying to be on a diet.” I spoke and to my stun, Sebastian let out a chuckle. “What? It’s true,” I said as his chuckles made a smile to creep to my lips.
“I believe you Lydia, I’m just thinking you don’t need it, that’s why it’s funny to me.” Sebastian said. “I do understand if you want to keep fit, but your physique makes you even more attractive.” Sebastian added and only a smile took to my lips. I would be lying if I said, I didn’t enjoy receiving compliment from people, especially when it came from someone as Sebastian whom had a haughty taste in fashion from his wears. Sebastian took his gaze off me, while he placed an order for our meal. “Lydia,” Sebastian called my name and my gaze merged back with his. “I didn’t request for you to dine with me based on business, but something else.” Sebastian spoke and my gaze became solemn.
“What is that?” I asked him.
“Asides from the transaction we have together, it is my wish to know you personally.” Sebastian said and my gaze relaxed, for I presumed his words to be more solemn than I thought.
“And do you think that would be a good idea for us?” I questioned him. “Do you not believe personal relationships would affect the other?” I added.
“Not if we’re planning to merge the two.” Sebastian spoke and my gaze furrowed. “It’s evident I’m interested in you Lydia.” Sebastian said plainly and openly. “I want more than just the woman i see now.” Sebastian added, as with each of his words, so did his gaze remain fixed at me and my gaze with stun.
“Your family knows me already Sebastian, and no, not as Lydia but a pretend girlfriend of yours going by the name Stella. Wanting to know each other personally is only going cause complications.” I told Sebastian vividly, as my words came true.
“I get to make decisions for myself Lydia, and I get to choose what I tell them.” Sebastian said.
“I agree with that, yet, what about me? When they do get to find out, what does that make me? A liar of course, there wouldn’t be any trust Sebastian, which is why I still believe indulging in getting to know each other personally doesn’t sound like a good idea.” I told him.
“You have already become my person Lydia, and there is always going to be an explanation as to why I did what I did. And any explanation comes from me, which you need not to worry about.” He spoke. “I don’t beat around the bush and I don’t go after what I doubt. With you, I’m certain it is a decision I want to make of wanting more than just to see you when we have a business transaction. I want to get to know Lydia and not just by her name, but her favorite things to do too.” Sebastian spoke, and words failed to exit my lips any longer. I was perplexed, bewildered and stunned at the same time, because Sebastian was the least of persons whom I ever fathomed to be interested in me. I knew I had where my heart laid, which was with Liam, yet, having heard Sebastian speak, my thinking began to wither. I began to wonder, if indeed accepting to Sebastian’s proposal of getting to know each other would be a decision I don’t regret.
