Chapter Twelve
The gray-white moon of Triton was visible on the feed, a celestial silhouette with pale-blue Neptune in the background. Erik had traveled all over the Solar System, including far beyond Sedna, but he’d never been this close to Neptune or its moon. Despite being there on a military-directed operation, he marveled at how beautiful the moons and planets of the Solar System could be.
If humanity had never left the Solar System, they could have spread out to the planets and moons without too much trouble. The Solar System was far from the territory of the Local Neighborhood races. Until the UTC spread out, their only encounter with another race had been the result of a fluke.
