Jia could barely tear her attention off Barbu’s each and every word. At first, she wanted to believe he was spinning a fanciful tale, but every new detail felt right. It all sounded correct and fit with what they’d learn about the conspiracy.
So many things now made sense, from their resources to their previous slow timetable. Technology had to catch up with their ambition.
She’d spent her life believing that Earth was a shining beacon of justice and civilization. Erik had opened her eyes, and now Barbu was smothering all the questions that had been screaming in her mind since then.
