An hour later, the field team, along with Lanara, stood in the cargo bay of the Argo, staring at the two devices collected from Triton. The Argo remained on the surface while Emma continued to download data from the outposts’ systems to better understand what had happened and gain clues about what the Core team had been up to.
They’d sent off a quick report via Tensen to the nearest Fleet vessels and back to Earth. Given the standing orders of the Fleet, that meant the next step wouldn’t be decided for probably six or seven hours depending on how quickly the brass on Troy could come to a decision. The local Fleet commanders didn’t have the authority to decide what to do with mysterious Core devices discovered in DD installations.
