Chapter Ten All Good Things Must Come To An End Billy padlocked the barn door from the inside. This was an ominous move that Andie watched with some concern. Inside, the light from two antique oil lanterns was the only illumination, that and the smoldering fire in the old blacksmith’s grate. Billy turned the irons that glowed above the coals, watching them carefully as the menacing orange color brightened. He’d branded cattle and even a classmate when the practice became a daredevil stunt the year following his high school graduation. But he’d never branded the flesh of a woman and that gave him reason to be especially careful.
