Mimi’s POV
Marissa: Hey Mimi, this just came from the management company and its address to you.
Mimi: Why would they be sending me something?
Miss Hansen,
We would like to first apologize for Mr. Jacobs actions toward you and please know that we here
at Waters Management company are greatly trouble by what he did. That being said we believe
it’s in the best interest of Joe’s Gym, that instead of going through more managerial interviews as
the silent partner suggested, you should be promoted. Your duties as manager will begin next
Monday, and your first order of business will be to find and hire someone to take over teaching
your advanced classes ASAP. While you are searching we will cut the amount of your classes
down to Monday – 5, Tuesday – 4, Wednesday – 6, Thursday – 3 and Friday – 5. You will be paid
for all overtime as needed, of course. Might I suggest making Thursday your day for taking care of
the office paperwork, since it will be your lightest class day? Also, when you are the manager full
time you will receive a raise in pay.
Signed,
S. Waters
Mimi: Really, really? Me as manager? What are they thinking? I have no time between classes to be a paper pusher like Joe was, it’s just not me. I don’t believe it. Marissa, they are making me the new manager. What am I going to do?
Marissa: Mimi, this is great news. We couldn’t ask for a better manager. You will be fair but firm like you are in your classes.
Mimi: They say I have to find someone to take over my classes as soon as possible. My students might not like that.
Marissa: Are you kidding? As long as you are here they will stay, especially if you are the one picking out your replacement. Those who take your classes love and trust your judgement, just like we who work here do. You went to bat for us in so many different ways over the past few years, first with Joe and now with this Waters Management company. We all will stand behind you, so you can’t possibly fail. Mimi, smile, this is good news. In fact, I may know someone who can help you.
Mimi: Who?
Marissa: Well, you know, I have been dating one of the guys who takes your classes and he has the same amount of belts as you do. Maybe you could have him co-teach for a few classes and see how he does?
Mimi: Is he looking for a job?
Marissa: Oh, yeah. He’s been stuck in a boring office job for so long and doesn’t get the chance to use his skills as much as he wants too. That is why he likes your class, it helps him stay sharp.
Mimi: Marissa, YOU ROCK!!! (Hug her) Let him know if he wants to come and learn the routine, I have a few late classes for those who have to come after work. Do you think he would be available to join on Friday night’s class at 7p? Afterwards, I can spar with him to get a feel of his skill set.
Marissa: Let me text him now and see what he says.
Mimi: Great let me know what you find out. I have to go get ready for my next class, and I have something HUGE I need to talk to you about later.
Several hours later after your last class, Marissa finds you in the locker room getting ready for a much needed hot shower.
Marissa: Hey Boss Lady! (She giggles) Jimmy is really excited to get started. So much so he has taken vacation days for the rest of the week and wants to start shadowing you tomorrow. Is that ok?
Mimi: That is beyond perfect, Marissa. I’m gonna back you a batch of Mom’s famous cookies tonight.
Marissa: My mouth is watering at the thought of the best cookies on the planet, but you are going to be busy tonight.
Mimi: What? No, I’m planning to go home and veg, but I will stop at the store for the ingredients first.
Marissa: No, Mimi, there is a stretch limo our front and a dress was hand delivered about 30 minute ago. I put it in your locker. Go shower and get changed, I’m dying to see what it looks like on you. I peeked at the size and it’s yours so it should fit.
Bemused, you head off and take the quickest shower in your life and dry off while you are plucking up the courage to look in your locker. Opening it you see the most stunning gown you’ve ever laid eyes on. Marissa, who grew impatient, came back and helps you put it on.
Marissa: WOAH, Mimi, it looks like it was made to fit only you. Are you going to tell me who could know you well enough to send you something this perfect for your shape? A mystery suitor or something?
Mimi: It has to be the guy who saved me last month from that drunk at Sab’s bachelorette party. His name is Sam and he keeps claiming to be my husband.
Marissa: WHAT?? Hold up, husband? When did you get married?
Mimi: I haven’t, but there is something so familiar about him. I’m not his wife, but after that night, I am having his baby. The condom broke and I’m 3 – 4 weeks pregnant now.
Marissa: A baby???? I’m so happy for you, but this mystery is deepening. You go get this girl, and find out more about him. I’ve got to know everything that happens, tell me more tomorrow. We can go baby clothes shopping at lunch.
You hug Marissa and nod as you move out of the locker room, through the gym, which earns you wolf whistles and “Looking good, Mimi!” from several of your students who are still completing their work out routine. You head out the door toward the limo, unsure of what comes next. The driver hops out and opens the back door for you, its dark inside as you slid in and the door closes. You watch the as the city lights fade as you are driven further away. The silence in the car is deafening as you pull up to a hug house near the hills. The driver gets out and helps you stand then motions you toward the front door. Dazed and confused, you obey and begin moving that direction. Before you can raise your hand to knock the door swings open wide.
Mimi: Nooooo
