Four year old Amara Mary Highmore sat comfortably on her high chair waiting for her nanny to serve her food. It was exactly 8 am and the time for breakfast at the Highmore family.
Her blue eyes scanned the long dinner that was empty except for her, confused she asked her nanny Sara in her innocent voice, "Where are momma and papa?"
The nanny hesitate as she served the young girl her breakfast porridge, how was she supposed to break the news to the little girl? Mustering up all her courage she sat on the chair next to the young mistress of the house and softly ran her thin fingers through her long, light brown hair, "Amara, momma and papa are not coming home, dear."
Amara stopped eating and looked at her nanny in confusion, why would her momma and papa not come home? Are they staying somewhere else? But they would have taken her if they were, did she do something wrong? Amara wanted to cry at the possibility of her doing something wrong and driving her parents away.
"I'm sorry if I did something wrong Miss Sara, tell them to come back home. I love them." Sara held back her painful tears at the child's innocence, she hates god for doing this to her and hated herself more for she was the one who will have to see her in pain of grief.
"You remember I read you that story one time? Where the momma and papa of a little princess were turned into stars?"
"Yes Miss Sara. You said that God took them so they could watch over the princess and keep her happy and safe." Amara recited perfectly with an excited grin, it was one of her favourite bed time stories where the princess gets her prince in the end and they live happily ever after.
"Well darling, you were their little princess so god took them and placed them high up in the sky so that they can watch over you, they were made into beautiful stars so that you can see them every night." Sara explained as best as she could careful of the fragile heart of the child.
Amara Mary Highmore then realized that she won't be seeing her parents ever again, all that was left of them was two shiny stars that Miss Sara pointed to, saying they were George and Fiona Highmore.
