[REVISED]
Seri’s POV
I wonder what the prince looks like…
I wonder what kind of personality he has…
What kind of person he is…
Is he kind like those stories in kid’s fantasy books?
But then again, those stories have human princes, right?
Werewolf princes must be quite different, right?
Or are they really?
Maybe he will be strict and refined like how an alpha is. Maybe better cause he’s royalty after all.
Would that really be the case?
I wouldn’t really know because I have never met royalty in my 18 years of life.
The most powerful designated wolf I’ve ever really met is an Alpha since I met quite a few when my father was still alive. He too was an Alpha.
The Alpha of our pack to be more precise.
I have only ever heard of stories and rumors about the royal family when I was still a child and most of those stories only ever mentioned the Queen. Rarely did it mention the Queen’s children. Sometimes, it did mention his majesty, the Queen’s mate and husband.
I remember my mother telling me how truly amazing and phenomenal the Queen is as she was the best leader that both Lunar and Halo have ever had.
I remember that she had told me before that the queen was immortal and that she has been bound and blessed by and with the Gods.
I remember how my mom told me that the Queen was the reason why the 2 kingdoms had come together after so many years of being each other’s enemies.
I also vividly remember being in complete awe upon hearing the Queen’s story and I remember telling my mom how I wanted to meet the Queen someday.
“Someday when you’re older and wiser, you’ll get to meet her, my love. Until then, you have to work on becoming someone truly worthy of the Queen’s attention and acknowledgement.” She would tell me.
The Queen’s stories were my favorite as a child but after all that happened to my family and I, her stories started to become some sort of trigger for me and when I would hear and remember the Queen, I’d be reminded of my mom, and I would immediately start bawling my eyes out.
“Seri”
I snapped back into reality.
“Yes?” I replied to Annie feeling a bit dazed.
“Are you okay? You were spacing out just now” she pointed out. I chuckled slightly.
“Uh yeah. Sorry about that. I was just reminded of something” I explained.
Annie looked worried as she rubbed my back.
“Are you sure?” she asked softly. I nodded.
“Yes. I think I’m feeling just fine” I assured her.
Annie gave me an assuring smile and hugged me.
“I’m right here, okay. You have me. You have us” she said.
I hugged Annie back with a smile.
“I know and I am truly grateful for that” I told her.
Annie hugged me tighter and I chuckled a bit. It seems I worried her for nothing.
“I’m sorry for making you feel worried. I didn’t mean to make you feel that way” I said.
“You don’t have to apologize for anything, Riri. It’s not your fault” she assured me.
“It was never your fault…” she whispered to me.
I forced a smile.
It’s not my fault…
Annie and I finally finished getting ready and we both helped out with finalizing everything since the guests might come at any moment.
I accompanied the kids and tended to their needs as I prepared them.
Once every single pup was ready, I gathered them in one space and sat them down.
“Okay, pups, eyes and ears on me” I said to get their attention.
The kids obediently followed me and gave me their attention.
I smiled at how cute and good they were.
“I am going to tell you something very important, so I needed you all to listen and understand, okay?” I said calmly. The kids nodded in unison.
I took a deep breath before telling them the news.
“A very important person is coming here to visit. This person will be accompanied by other important people” I started.
“These people are coming to see us and hopefully, offer us a helping hand so that we can live comfortably for a long time” I continued.
“Now, we have met other important people too. Ones that have also helped us plenty. But, this particular person is…bigger than those that we’ve already met before. This person is someone that not only a lot of wolves respect, but he’s someone that every single wolf in the world acknowledges” I explained further.
The children started to become a little confused based on their facial expressions and one pup raised their hand to ask a question.
“Yes?” I said.
“How is he more important than the others, Seri?” the curious pup asked.
“Well, this person just happens to be the son of the most powerful family to ever live” I answered.
Everyone reacted with awe.
Ever since I came to the orphanage, I don’t believe I have ever heard anyone really talk about the royal family with the kids.
Maybe because before it didn’t really matter.
We mainly would focus on teaching the kids basic survival skills and manners since we felt that that was more important than anything else.
Most wolves in our orphanage either come of age and leave the orphanage to seek for their mates or they choose to stay here in the orphanage and help out in taking care of the pups for as long as they can.
I choose to do the latter.
This orphanage is my home now.
This is where I belong.
I looked at the kids as they talked and laughed with one another and I smiled as I admired them.
These pups were unwanted and abandoned by many people and the orphanage was the one who chose to keep them.
Every single wolf in this orphanage has a story to tell. Ones that can make you cry, angry, disappointed, and so much more.
Just like me.
I was once this orphanage’s unwanted pup too.
The orphanage was the only one that gave me a warm home, good food and a nice family who truly cared for my well-being without a doubt.
We did not have much specially before but we were contented with what we had. We learned how to enjoy what we had and work hard to have what we did not currently have.
That’s why I vowed to myself that I will give anything and everything that I can to the orphanage and the people in it for as long as I am able.
