Heaven’s Curse

*Heaven’s POV* “Look on the bright side Heaven, at least you gained a little popularity,” Mona Lisa, my only friend whispered to me, and I, in turn, rolled my eyes at her. Who cares about popularity? I just humiliated myself, and in the most horrible way you could think of. If I listened to this girl, I was going to end up making a total fool of myself and loose whatever was left of my dignity, that's if there is even any left. Lisa has been my only friend right from junior high and she is as loyal as they come. Being the most bullied student in school, you can guess what that did to my self esteem. But of course, Lisa is always there to fight for me and you know what? She's one of the most beautiful girls in school, so you would wonder how she manages to be friends with me right? Well, that makes two of us. She has a body to die for, and the only person that comes close to her in looks is Alexander, the hottest and most sought-after girl in school, and also my greatest nightmare. So guess the stupid thing I did? I asked her boyfriend out on a date! The most stupid decision I ever made in my life. Now I was a laughing stock in school, and Alexandra was making life hell for me. Thank God for Lisa, I don't know what I would have done, but still she was the one that pushed me to it. Yes, Lisa. Andrew is like the hottest guy in school, and once I thought we had connected, because we were paired in music class to do a duet together, and ever since then I've had like the maddest crush for Drew, as he is popularly called. Drew is also the gamma’s son in my pack, and that makes him the future gamma of our pack.  What the hell was I thinking when I asked him out right? Well, as the least popular girl in school, and a nerd at that, without no wolf, it was normal that I was taken for granted. I use the phrase ‘taken for granted’ because I believe there is more to me that is yet to be discovered, and even though I haven't found my wolf yet at seventeen, I just had to believe there was something special about me, at least allow me praise myself if nobody will, duh. Lisa is the only one I can tell anything to because she's a good friend, and she has stuck out for me since God knows when. Did I also mention she's the Alpha’s daughter? Yep. That's me, the unpopular girl with a popular friend. I wouldn't trade Lisa for anything in the world. So yes, back to what I was saying. You see, Lisa is the only one that knows about my long standing crush on Drew, and on this particular day, that was yesterday anyway, she gave me a lot of inspirational talks about how I should ‘shoot my shot’, that maybe Drew likes me too but I was never going to find out if I just sit and do nothing. It wasn't the first time she would be leading me on or giving me talks about ‘taking the bull by the horn’ and blah blah blah. But I must confess, I had dreamt over and over again of the day I would tell Drew about my feelings for him, and he would take me into his arms and… and… Urgh. Never mind. So yesterday, after hours of rehearsals, and a perfectly written and mastered speech, I thought it was time to let out my feelings to the future gamma of the Midnight pack. Imagine me, a wolf with no rank whatsoever, what a nerve! I had it all planned. Drew always preferred taking his lunch alone, something I did not understand why. He did not seat amongst friends to eat, and people hardly ever joined his table. I took a deep breath and had the nerve to carry my tray over to his table in the cafeteria; where almost all the students were having their meals. Me a senior, ended up humiliating herself in the presence of all my juniors. Well, I walked over to him, a smile plastered on my face and laid my tray down on the table beside his, totally ignoring the many eyes that were staring at me. Good thing was, Alex wasn't in school that day, so that gave me more courage to do what I did. At first, he pretended not to see me. I looked across the hall to where Lisa was seated and even Lisa looked surprised. The thing is, Lisa wanted me to ask Drew out quite alright, but what she hadn't expected was that I was going to do it in public. I should have known better. I sat next to him, and was tongue tied for a few minutes, but this was my chance. I had already taken the first step, so I was going to get it over with. I moved closer to him, he shifted and put a distance between us. Ouch, that should have been my cue to stop, but no I didn't. The thing is I always believed I stood a chance in being famous and I saw this as my one chance to fame. Do you know what it would mean if I could get the attention of Drew the hottest guy in school?  Do you know how popular it would make me if he even shows interest in me and decides to go on a date with me? Then he ditches Alex to be with me? Boy! That was so much popularity, that would also serve Alex right for all the bad things she did to me, it would be a great payback for me. So, I moved closer to him. “What do you want?” Drew shouted at me. I could have walked away then or just silently eaten my food in peace, but no, whatever spirit that possessed me yesterday was a strong one, so I went ahead. “I was won-d-ering if,” I swallowed. He was eyeing me disgustingly now and people were murmuring “I was wondering if you wanted to go on a date with me tonight?” I finally managed to blurt out. There was a hush in the room for a few seconds, and Drew stared at me like I was some kind of alien, but I gave him an equal stare back. He burst out laughing after a while, and stupid me joined in on his laugh. I didn't see what was coming next. He dumped the contents on his plate over my head. Yes, that's what he did. The whole crowd burst into a series of laughter as he walked away, and guess what? His friends that were seated at the next table took their turns to dump their food on my head. Yup, that's how humiliated I was. Before Lisa could walk to the table to drag me out of there, I  was already a mess. So I ran. I may have been craving popularity, but not in this manner. So, yeah, I'm the new gist all over campus; the servant who thought she could have the princess's boyfriend. I was doomed. Alexander came for me afterwards, saying all manner of things that I cannot even remember now, or maybe I'd rather not remember. Talk of the devil, Alex just passed by me and Lisa in the locker room, She and her bunch of friends making me cower in fear. Why would the ground not just open up and swallow me already? “Loser,” She stuck her tongue out at me and her friends are laughing so hard. She's in front of me now, arms crossed across her chest, and I'm trying to hide behind Lisa's back, but Lisa is not having any of it. She wants me to stand up to Alexander which I don't think I will ever gather the courage to. Wait, it was this same motivation that Lisa gave me that made me walk up to Drew. Well, maybe I shouldn't have done it in public but there was no way I was taking her advice again when it came to matters like this. “Buzz off alright,” see, that was Lisa, always ready to fight for me. You see, the thing with Lisa and Alex is that they are both Alpha's daughters but from different packs. Alex is yet to have a mate, but she believes she and Drew are in love, and that he was probably her mate but the moon goddess was yet to reveal it to them. Drew is already nineteen by the way. Lisa however already found her mate, and guess who it was? Drake. Alex’s elder brother and future alpha of their pack, Creek wood pack. So, Lisa was the future Luna of Alex’s pack and Alex is in love with the future gamma in my pack, but no one knows if she’s actually his mate yet. And me? I'm a nobody. Yet, I was stupid enough to crush on the hottest guy in school and look where that got me. Now, I'm an open prey to the entire school. I earlier said I was the most bullied student in school right? Well maybe I exaggerated about that, but right now I can say for sure that I succeeded in making things worse for myself. Please let me just go back to my former life already. “Why don't you let her speak for herself?” Alex flips her hair back as she speaks “She had the nerves to ask my man out for a date but she can't even face me? Can you imagine this fool,” Alex was pointing a finger at me as she spoke and I can feel sweat running down my underarms. s**t. I don't want to be humiliated again but Alex is already causing a scene, and I don't like the stares I'm getting. “f**k off and let the girl be Alex, get out of here,” Lisa is using a commanding voice now and Alex is not having it. “Don't you use that tone on me because you are mated to my brother,” Alex is shouting too. Not many people know about Lisa and Drake and I can clearly see shock on all their faces. For crying out loud, there were humans in this school. What if any of them happens to hear this? Alex was being too extra, and she was going to spill a lot if care is not taken. “Stop making a scene Alex, respect yourself and let it go,” Lisa is already pissed by the mention of her mate's name.  “I'll handle you, trust me,” Alex replies back “You better be ready,”  “Are you threatening me?” Lisa's voice was loud enough now for even those that are not in the locker room to hear “Are you threatening me Alex?” She asked again for clarity, but Alex jabs her finger in Lisa's chest. “Take it however you want to,” Alex tells her.  Alex’s fingers on her chest were what annoyed Lisa. She grabs the fingers and twists them hard, and then Alex let’s out a loud cry before using her free arm to push Lisa hard. Her girls come for me, and soon everywhere is in chaos. I’m fighting off two of the girls, and Lisa is tackling Alex and others. Lisa is pretty strong, and I hope one day when I get my wolf too, I'd be equally as strong. The sound of Mr. Adam’s voice dispersed the students, but we were too caught up in the fight to hear it.  “What is going on here?” he thundered. Oops. We had been caught, and it's a serious offence to be fighting inside school premises. We stop midway through the fight and Lisa is trying to explain but Mr. Adams shut her up by just raising his right palms. “Detention! All of you!”
