"You must have misheard. There is no elixir, no manipulation,” Alpha Orion tries to talk his way out.
But, I’m not a fool to believe his lies more than what I heard firsthand. I’ve made my decision, and it can’t be swayed.
"I'm resigning and I'm leaving the pack," I say with conviction, the words pulling at the edges of my hazy memories, as if I’ve said them before.
Alpha Orion's eyes narrow while Michelle's face crumples, tears spilling down her cheeks.
"Please, Colt, don't leave me. Our child needs a father,” Michelle says as she kneels down in front of me.
"I'll support our child. But I can't continue trying to love you. I've tried for years, and it's never worked."
