Junie hesitated at the doorstep of the weathered house on Sunshine Avenue. Her friend Jo slid the key into the old lock again. “Are you sure about this, sweetie?” April asked, squinting at the peeling paint. “It’s a great location,” Junie replied. “Jo lives right across the street in that cute lavender house.” Still, Junie had reservations. Was she truly ready to unlock a new chapter in her life? And was this the right house? She hoped her mother would like it, but she also valued her honest opinion. “I love living here,” Jo added, turning the lock. The door creaked open with what sounded like a sigh of relief. April peered inside, looking doubtful. “Are you sure it’s okay if we go in?” “The attorney handling Mrs. Ashbury’s estate eats breakfast every day at Cuppa Jo’s,” Junie said.
