Chapter Three–––––––– Nat woke up hung over like never before. Everything hurt and his mouth was as dry as a ball of cotton. He pushed up with his arms and turned away from the window. The bright sunlight that stole through a crack in the blackout drapes stabbed his eyes. He collapsed and pulled the sheet over his head. A soft groan from the other side of the bed. Lucy! He remembered where he was, but the night before remained hazy. Am I still drunk? He peeked at her. Her face was puffy, eye makeup had bled under her eyes, leaving black smudges and rings. Was this the woman who had been magic the night before? He swallowed. This is Lucy. He wondered how he looked and dreaded facing himself in the mirror.
