CHAPTER 5HE WAS STASHED IN SOME strange woman’s garage, he could barely move on his own and he felt like he hadn’t eaten in days—which was probably the case if he’d spent the past two days unconscious. She’d said she was coming back with food, and though he had no way to keep track of time, he’d guess at least a half hour had passed since she’d left the garage. His stomach growled furiously to punctuate the thought. Was she growing the food herself? He would have been happy with a few slices of bread, but it seemed his presence there had been forgotten. A car had pulled up in front of the property several minutes prior, and footsteps had sounded from the vehicle to the house—heavy, confident footsteps. He’d worried she had handed him over to her group, but when no one burst through the ga
