CASSIA’S POV:
“Mate” I repeat the word he had just uttered, almost in joy, but the look in my mate's eyes makes me understand that not all is well and that there is absolutely nothing for me to be joyful about.
I take a step backward to escape his closeness that intimidates me, but to my greatest shock, he stalks closer to me and runs his hand through my long black hair.
He grabs it tight and pushes me against the wall where I hit my back hard and a scream escapes my lips. Still holding my hair, he jerks my head up and forces me to look in his eyes. By this time, his almond-shaped, sea rover-blued eyes are blazing with contempt and irritation.
His imperious nose is flaring and his angular cheekbones are tight as a result of him gritting his teeth.
Anger, disappointment, loathe, contempt, and every other negative emotion are all I can see in his eyes.
I whimper in pain as tears fall freely down my cheeks. He isn't only hurting me physically, but emotionally and psychologically too.
Mates are supposed to protect each other, why then is he hurting me instead?
When I thought things couldn’t get any worse, he lets go of my hair and grabs my neck with his big palm, choking me gently and perhaps if the case was different, the proximity and gesture would have felt intimate.
I grab his hand and struggle to get him to release me, but all my efforts go in vain because he's a hundred times stronger than I am. He's a future Alpha and he is very powerful and almost invincible.
“Please…" I cry breathlessly. "Let me go.” I plead in tears and immediately, he releases my poor neck and I fall to the ground, gasping for breath and crawling away from him.
He stoops down and snatches me one more time by my hair and forces me to get on my feet and I do so without any hesitation. He plasters me to the wall and gives me the same scornful look.
My eyes turn yellow and I give him a scornful look as well.
“Omega! A mere omega! The moon goddess dares pair me with a mere omega!” He laments in fury and I’m tempted to roll my eyes.
That’s a very typical thing for a spoiled brat like him to say.
“Alpha Lucius…” I start to talk but he cuts me off with a shout.
“Shut your mouth. You do not talk when I’m talking.” He orders in a low, dangerous growl and I quietly nod my head. “Now you listen to me, you are my mate but I’m not going to accept this bond. You are nothing but a pitiful omega. I will never accept you as my mate” He sneers and I just keep looking at him like he has lost his mind.
A sharp retort is on the edge of my lips but the coldness in his eyes seal my mouth shut. I know better than to enrage a man like him further.
“I’m in a relationship with Ariadne, the Beta’s daughter, and nothing will make me break up with her, not even you. By the next full moon, which is next weekend, we will both perform the rejection rituals. Is that clear?”
“What if I refuse this rejection?” I ask boldly, staring deep into his blazing eyes and before I know it, he's pinning me back against the wall, a menacing glint of yellow clouding his eyes.
“You will not refuse this rejection, little wolf. I am your Alpha and you will do as I say and this is what I say. You will not spread a single word about this to anyone and on the day of the full moon, we shall meet and perform the rejection rights in secret. If you dare mention a word about this to anyone, I will kill you and feed your body to the crows and I will not be reprimanded for it because you are nothing but an outcast. So, if you want to keep on living, you will do as I’ve instructed. My words are a promise and I never break them” He further threatens and a shiver runs down my spine at the poison that laced his every sentence.
Terror sucks the very breath from my mouth and fear becomes a tangible, living force that creeps over me like some hungry beast, immobilizing my brain, holding me captive.
I would have loved to take a step away from him, but I’m glued to the wall and imprisoned in his arms. I heave out a heavy breath and burst into tears.
“Please, I will. Whatever it is you want! Just let me go. Please” I cry pathetically and the vicious drags me by the arm and out of the rest room.
He drops me to the ground at his feet and I'm too much of a wreck at the moment to fight it.
In less than no time, staff members from the school join us outside and everyone bows down to him, probably waiting for him to give orders.
He looks down at me and I look straight into his eyes, hoping he will see the pain and sorrow in mine and pity me.
He suddenly averts his gaze like he was refraining from something and turns to look at the staff members who still have their heads bowed down.
“I found her trespassing, lock her up in the dungeon and give her the punishment she deserves.” He orders and I watch in terror as he shoves both hands in his pocket and smirks wickedly at me before walking away.
When his father, the Alpha, killed my father for no just cause, I harbored a lot of hatred in my heart for him, and right now, that is the same hatred I harbor in my heart for Lucius.
He is nothing but a arrogant bastard and I want nothing to do with him.
Come the night of the full moon, I will accept his rejection and spit in his face.
