“Oh, gosh, I’m so sorry-” the young man who had stepped into the room said as he stumbled his way back out.
Savannah had lurched away from Mario, who steadied her at the elbow as her foot slipped off the edge of the pedestal. It was only five or so inches up, but the short fall startled her nonetheless.
“I’ll just give you guys a few minutes to wrap up, ok?” the nervous voice from the door said, before it closed again with a click that nearly echoed in the ensuing silence.
Mario chuckled lightly as he got up to his feet. “Well, that was fun while it lasted.”
“It was,” Savannah said, smiling a little as she straightened out her clothes, then moved to pack up her things.
